Next review, #24, Radek Martinek
Martinek played only 16 games this season, totaling 2 goals and an assist for 3 points and a -1 rating. Unfortunately, a knee injury cut his season short in November, which has seemed to be a recurring theme for him ever since he entered the NHL. I don’t think he has played a full season or over 60 games in a season since he joined the Isles.
Martinek is a very solid...

Player Review: Radek Martinek
Radek Martinek is one of the oldest players on the New York Islanders roster, and brings a lot of experience to the Islanders defensive group.
At 34-years-old, Martinek stayed healthy for 64 games, the most games he has played in a season since the 2007-2008 season.
Martinek had a solid season, with three goals and 13 assists, but with so much young talent I don’t think we...

Dee Karl: Martinek: Underrated or Spare Part?
Was trade deadline day really that far away? No. It just feels that way. That was the time that Islanders fans were clamoring to trade veteran defenseman Radek Martinek for -- something.
But Martinek himself had his fingers, toes and anything else he could, crossed that he would not get the call to pack-up and ship out. No. Radek Martinek is an Islander. He loves it here and wanted to stay....

Confirmed Radek Martinek has signed a contract with Columbus for 1 year and $2.2 mil. While Martinek was always listed as the Islanders best "under rated" defenseman, he also had a history of injury.
We wish him well in his new home. Columbus is a beautiful city. He will love it there.
Not too sure who is going to love it here yet...

Dee Karl: Radek Martinek: Up to the Challenge (maybe)
Radek Martinek has not had an easy career since being drafted by the NY Islanders in the 8th round of the 1999 draft. In his eight NHL seasons, he has never been able to play a full season. His body bears the scars of devastating injury that cut each season short. The 2005-2006 season saw Radek on the ice for 74 games, the highest number of his career. Last season saw him for only 16 games....
