To hell and back: 10 San Francisco Giants who were traded away, then re-acquired
by Troy Nelson, 22gigantes.com
Tis the season for returning unwanted Christmas gifts to the store for something better.
After the recent signing—or should I say re-signing—of pitcher Boof Bonser by the San Francisco Giants, I got to thinking about the number of players the Giants have traded away or let walk, only to re-acquire them years later.

2000: Hoping to fill the void created by the departure of Ellis Burks, the Giants sign veteran outfielder Eric Davis to a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The Players Choice Awards’ “Man of the Year” had considered retirement, but the lure of more playing time changes his mind.

SF Giants Rumors – More Insights On Giants Number 1 Pick, Joe Panik
Are you dying (not literally) to know more about the San Francisco Giants number one draft pick? Marc Raimondi of the New York Post recently wrote an article about the Giants drafting shortstop Joe Panik. Raimondi says Panik was just another smallish middle infielder with potential at the plate after high school. Panik went on to St. John’s and added 20 pounds of muscle, improved...

Your 2011 Giants: Panik Giants Draft Pick #29
With the 29th pick of the draft, the Giants selected St. John's SS Joe Panik. The choice is a bit underwhelming because higher potential players like Josh Bell, Andrew Susac, Austin Hedges, Dan Norris were still on the board. According to Baseball America's Top 200 list, Panik is the 67th best player in this draft. However, according to Perfect Game's Top 100 list...

The last time they made it to the playoffs was in 2003 with a lineup that consisted the likes of Barry Bonds, J.T. Snow, Rich Aurilia, Ray Durham, Marquis Grissom, Kirk Rueter and Jason Schmidt.
Seems like that was decades ago when those players wore San Francisco...
