Second Period Update on Game 3
Rob Blake saves a goal…………thank god for him. Props to Vlassic for getting in there as well.
Marleau’s goal came just in the nick of time as the two man advantage had one second remaining on it when Patty put the puck home.
Jonathan Toews pass to Patrick Sharp for Chicago’s first goal was one of the nicest passes I have ever seen. WOW.
Niemi looks stronger in the second...

Rob Blake to retire
If the news hasn’t hit already, it will soon. Former Avs D-man and all-around great guy Rob Blake has decided to retire.
A better guy in hockey, there could not be found. Yeah, I thought he should have been suspended for a hit on TJ Galiardi in the playoffs and railed about it a little bit, but he was still the same great dude when I saw him the next day. He never took it personal...

Rob Blake Knows What The Sharks Need To Do
from Mark Purdy of the Mercury News,
This week, he is unabashedly addressing Chicago’s confident swagger.
“They’ve earned that confidence by winning two in our rink,” Blake said. “Now we’ve got to respond. They’ve stuck to their game very well and we haven’t been doing that by any means.”
So which means are the right means...

Video of Blake hit – that’s a suspension-worthy one all right
To me, there is just no question this hit by Rob Blake on TJ Galiardi deserves a suspension. It’s a cheap shot to the head, just what the league said it doesn’t want.
No word from the league yet on any punishment for the former Av. If the league does nothing, the Avs can’t let that go without a response. Am I advocating violence? Nope. But you don’t get pushed...

Postgame Avs-Sharks, Game 2 – Suspend Rob Blake
SAN JOSE – He’s always been one of my favorite guys to deal with, and truly is a class guy, but I don’t play favorites when it comes to what happens on the ice. After the last time Rob Blake hurt a guy with a hit (Peter Mueller), I called it just part of hockey, not a dirty hit.
But not tonight. Blake’s cross-check/punch to the face of TJ Galiardi in overtime...
