Bears sign Toub to 2-year deal
The Chicago Bears have signed special teams coordinator Dave Toub to a two-year contract.
The team announced the move on Tuesday. Toub had an expiring contract and was reportedly in the running for the Miami Dolphins' head coaching job.
The Bears' special teams have consistently ranked among the league's best since Toub arrived in 2004. He's helped Devin Hester develop into one...

2011 Season Awards: Special Teams MVP
It's awards season, so it's time to break out the navy and orange carpet, tuxedos and high-strung hosts as we recognize the best of the Bears season. We start with the special teams most valuable player. Special teams are undervalued with other franchises, but since Lovie Smith hired Dave Toub, they've been a key part of the Bears success. The nominees are: Robbie Gould: The...

Bears-Vikings prop picks (01.01.12)
Kahlil Bell is inspired to have a big game against his one-time team, the Vikings.
Here is a look at hypothetical propositional wagers between the Bears and Vikings.
First team to score
Bears. It’s hard to pick a Bears team that has lost five straight games to score first on the road, but Minnesota is such a bad team that it’s even harder not to.
First Bears player to...

Early Hibernation for Bears
Five straight defeats have put the Chicago Bears (7-8) out of the playoffs. The Bears lost to Green Bay 35-21 with a makeshift offense that gained 441 yards, and an improved passing game due to Josh McCown, the backup QB, who played well in defeat. McCown, showed poise, and a pretty good arm, as he battled with the Bears to a 14-10 half-time score. Then in the 3rd quarter, Green...

Blah... might I recommend we all leave our TVs off and spend more time with family and friends on Christmas night?
Here is a look at hypothetical propositional wagers between the Bears and Packers.
First team to score
Packers. I don’t think there’s any question on this one. Unless the Bears receive the opening kickoff and somehow manage to drive the ball into field goal...

Your 1pm Open Thread: Brought to You by Slangin’ Sammy Hurd
Sam Hurd was released by the Bears following his arrest on federal drug charges this week. Speculation surrounds the existence and contents of a list of Hurd’s NFL customers that is supposedly in the possession of authorities. While the NFL doesn’t need another scandal—it could set an example for other beleaguered sports organizations by owning this problem.
My suggestion...

Moments in Time: Seattle Seahawks vs. Bears 2007 Playoffs
Seattle Seahawks nostalgia in this weeks Moments In Time. In 2007, the Seattle Seahawks headed to Soldier Field in Chicago to take on the Bears in the divisional round of the 2007 NFL Playoffs. The game was back and forth as Shaun Alexander rushed for 2 touchdowns and Nate Burleson caught one, but Bears kicker Robbie Gould had the ultimate say in the game.

Week 15 Kicker Rankings
Unlike running backs, quarterbacks and even tight ends, kickers have always been known for their longevity in the NFL. You can easily have a player in his late 30′s to even 40′s booming kicks from 50 yards out. This year we have seen a few kickers who have stood the test of time and continue to put up strong performances.

Who Stuck Out in Last-Minute Loss?
Chicago's loss to Denver was like a punch in the stomach that you saw coming but couldn't stop. But there were some players who stood out more than others.
Grizzly Bears -- the Bears who tamed the bucking Broncos
Israel Idonije -- Though he was angry at himself for not blocking the game-winning field goal, Izzy was the star on defense. He blocked a field goal, recovered...

Chicago Bears Fail to Show Up, Lose 10-3 to Kansas City
Raise your hand if you think Sunday’s Bears game was one of the worst ones you’ve watched in a long time.
Or maybe you were smarter than me and turned it off at halftime.
Overall, it was a team fail. I’m not really sure where to start other than to say the Bears never really got out of the starting gates for the entire game.
While gray clouds blanketed Chicago,...
