Phillies Don't Offer Arb. to Burrell and Moyer

Both Burrell and Moyer are Type A free agents, which means that if the Phillies had offered one or both arbitration and either declined, they would have been given two draft picks as compensation. The risk is that a panel of arbitrators will decide how much of payroll is dedicated...

I'm down in Tampa on Vacation this week & I have some notes on Iwamura, Young, Upton, Crawford & more. Some are standard fair (Iwamura = good), and some will raise some eyebrows (Crawford is a terrible fielder, Young & Upton aren't 100% MLB ready) & more.

Finally! Last night was the first time that Big Papi has homered this season. He joins the one homer list led by Rocco Baldelli, Micheal Bourn, Willie Bloomquist, and Ryan Church. To be honest, it feels good to get number one off his back, considering he is my utility player in the...

Nothing a like a good game of rock paper scissors to decide who is going to play center field.

Ken Rosenthal thinks the Yanks have some interest in Rocco Baldelli. It doesn't make any sense to me. He can't handle centerfield everyday and as a backup he`s probably not as good as Melky or Gardner. I couldn't really get upset about it but it seems kind of dumb.

The Red Sox are where they are. Five and a half games out of first place, with the division seemingly wrapped up, at least according to the stat-heads. And I myself are included in those "stat-heads."

I did it again, folks. I gave up on the Sox. Wrote them off when all looked grim, convinced we were on the cusp of getting taken to the woodshed for the second day in a row by a team with guys named Aubrey, Ty, Felix and Gregg with two Gs. But the Sox battled back, perhaps every bit...
