Yankees Lefty Reliever Royce Ring Becomes A Free Agent

Via Anthony McCarron of the NY Daily News: Royce Ring, who had been outrighted to Triple-A by the Yankees, has opted for free agency. Ring had a very strong season with the triple-A Scranton Yankees, putting up a 1.93 ERA over 42 innings. But it wasn’t enough for him to gain the trust of the Yankees who didn’t call him up until September despite having...

He struck out 6 and walked 2 allowing 2 runs. Royce Ring stranded Walters 2 runners left on. Allen Craig went yard twice. [...]

Yankees Recall Royce Ring, DFA Chad Huffman

In order to provide themselves with more bullpen depth, the Yankees have recalled LHP Royce Ring from the minor leagues. Ring was not a member of the 40-man roster so the Yankees designated outfielder Chad Huffman for assignment. Ring, 29, is a former 1st round draft pick out of the 2002 draft. He last pitched in the big leagues for the Atlanta Braves in 2008. He has...

Yankees Field Trip: Video Arcade

Last season the Yankees went on a field trip to a bowling alley in what was meant to be part team building exercise and part break in the monotony of spring training. Mariano Rivera dominated at pool so this season they decided to switch it up as manager Joe Girardi took them all to a video arcade where they competed video Indy Car racing...

Could Royce Ring Help Yankees In Postseason?

Last night in their loss to the Yankees, manager Joe Girardi brought in a relief pitcher making his debut with the Yankees. Left hander, Royce Ring had pitched this season in Triple-A. Ring was very effective and efficient. This got me thinking. Should Girardi include Ring on the postseason roster?

They’ll Be in Triple Digits Soon

The Yankees have 15 retired numbers and about 65 people in camp, it’s really not out of the realm of possibility that they could have somebody wearing no. 100 on their back some spring training in the future. Especially because Yankee fans seemed to have unofficially retired certain numbers (21 and 51 among others). If you can’t...

A Look At How The Bullpen Is Shaping Up

The talk all spring has been who will win out the 5th starter spot. Well how about who will fill out the bullpen? This spring the Yankees have an abundance of arms pitching well. With the addition of Chan Ho Park this bullpen suddenly seems very crowded, and that's even with the losses of Phil Coke and Brian Bruney.Joe Girardi had this to say of Park's Yankees debut:“His outing...

Roster has no Ring to it

MINNEAPOLIS -- The possibility of adding Royce Ring to the bullpen as a second lefty to negate the Twins' left-handed hitters was nothing more than an idea for the Yankees. When the club announced its ALDS roster yesterday, the left-handed Ring wasn't on it. Instead, the Yankees opted to...

Non Roster Invitee: Royce Ring – Yankees

Good grief is there anyone who wasn’t invited to camp by the New York Yankees? Boone Logan and Royce Ring have been fighting for the second lefty spot in the pen. Logan is guaranteed north of 500,000 while Ring is guaranteed a pair of Yankee pants. While Ring has pitched 4.1 scoreless innings this spring with 5 k’s, a walk and a single hit allowed Logan hasn’t done...

Royce Ring Exercises Out Clause With Mariners

Reliever Royce Ring has exercised his out clause with the Mariners and is now a free agent, MLBTR has learned.  Ring, 30, signed a minor league deal with the M's in December of 2010. After posting a 1.93 ERA, 8.4 K/9, and 2.4 BB/9 in 42 Triple-A innings for the Yankees' affiliate in 2010, Ring hasn't been able to find similar success in 2011.  In 27 apperances for Triple...

Cubs Fans Frustrated With Offseason Can Take Solace In Cardinals' Significantly Worse Offseason

I don't know if you've been paying attention, but the Cardinals' offseason has been poor at best. They have done very little to improve and their pitching staff looks very thin. For some reason Cardinals GM John Mozeliak thought it would be a good idea to do an online chat where he answered questions from some very irate fans. Enjoy their misery:   dixie2003: Mr. Mozeliak...
