Duke Basketball 2012-2013 Wrap Up
The 2012-2013 Duke men’s basketball season was one that started with a great deal of uncertainty and ended with one big disappointment but all in all it was a successful season.
Duke Basketball walks into the post season sunset following its exit from the NCAA Tournament.
It was not a great season, Duke did not win the ACC regular season or tournament championships, and they...
Krzyzewski got all he could out of Duke team
In the end, Mike Krzyzewski got just about everything he could out of his Duke Blue Devils.
It didnt seem the season would end quite so early when Ryan Kelly went off for 36 points in his comeback game against Miami in late February. That night, it appeared the Devils were the national front-runners, and in many respects they were.
But nobody knew Kelly would go into the tank within...
2013 March Madness (Midwest and South Regions) – Sweet 16 and Elite 8
Well, that was embarrassing. I hyped up the Sweet Sixteen games as being great, and then three out of the four games last night were unwatchable blowouts. Even worse than that, I went 0-4 in my picks. Hopefully better things await tonight. This set of games features the best and then the team that no one but me and the Miami Hurricanes knew about a week ago. The Cardinals looked...

It will be the ninth meeting between the two schools and the third in the NCAA Tournament.
Duke (29-5) will appear in its 26th Sweet...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – March 27th Edition
While Duke is preparing to take on Michigan State Fri. night in the Sweet 16, news broke yesterday that Duke legend Bobby Hurley has been hired as the head coach of Buffalo University. This obviously set Twitter ablaze as everyone has been wondering when Bobby might get a head coaching job of his own. Dave Telep of ESPN had this to say about the hire:
Bobby Hurley took to recruiting...
Duke needs toughness, Kelly versus Spartans
Duke better bring its lunch pails and hard hats to Friday nights matchup with Michigan State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA East Regional in Washington, D.C.
In a town where lobbying, negotiating and posturing are at a premium, this battle may be better suited for the rust belt, or perhaps a back alley in some northeastern city.
Third-seed Michigan State (27-8) thrives on mucking...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – March 25th Edition
Duke is back to the Sweet 16 yet again after outlasting Creighton last night. Duke had 3 players with 4 fouls before the under 16 timeout in the second half. At that point, they had a 5-7 point lead and honestly, I thought the game was over. They were cold shooting, Mason was the only inside presence we had, and Kelly was the only one who was able to contain McDermott. Alas...
Duke 73 – Albany 61 Four Factors
Duke notched an 11 point win over their first round NCAA Tournament opponent Albany. Coming into the game, the two teams were far off in terms of perception and ranking, but their statistical profiles were not as different as it may have seemed based just on that surface information. There were two areas where Albany had an advantage on the Blue Devils entering the game: Offensive...
NCAA tourney: 10 things to watch for
Starting at 12:15 p.m. Eastern today, when No. 14 seed Valparaiso tips off against No. 3 seed Michigan State to begin the 75th NCAA tournament, much of America who made the awful decision to actually go to work will conduct a grand workplace ruse. There will be 2½-hour lunches. There will be surreptitious Internet radio and constant score updates. There will be out-of-office appointments...

The story of this year’s NCAA Basketball season has been the immense parody all across...
2013 March Madness – Midwest Region (First Weekend)
The Midwest region is home to the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Louisville Cardinals. Headlining the region with them are legendary programs with legendary coaches, #2 seed Duke and Mike Kryzyzewski and #3 Michigan State and Tom Izzo. Otherwise, at least on paper, this region is pretty devoid of star power. On paper it looks like this region will go mostly chalk, but...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – March 19th Edition
Today officially kicks off the NCAA Tournament with the First Four or First Round…whatever they are the play-in games and will always be that. Duke doesn’t start play until Fri. at 12:15pm when they take on the University of Albany. Duke’s bracket is LOADED and quite possibly the hardest this year. Media and fans alike are already looking ahead to potential matchups against...
A Glance at Duke's Path Through the Midwest
Duke did itself no favors when it lost in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The NCAA Selection Committee didn’t do the Blue Devils any favors either.
Despite having the best resume as considered by most experts and despite an 18-1 record with Ryan Kelly in the lineup, none of that was enough to erase Duke’s lack luster effort in their conference tournament, while Kansas...
Selection Sunday Primer: Matchups are key for Duke
By Ray Horn - Selection Sunday is finally here and if Championship Week has shown us anything it is that the NCAA Tournament is going to be wild. This year more so than most has no dominant teams. Last season there were a few teams when healthy that would easily be the favorite this year. The overall talent pool in College basketball is a little diluted this year, but the...
Ryan Kelly, Duke Expect to Resume ACC Tournament Dominance, But Miami, North Carolina May Have Say
Duke didn’t win the ACC’s regular-season basketball championship this season, finishing a game behind Miami, Fla., who secured its first conference crown. It’s the Blue Devils, however, who are the -175 opening favorites at Bovada to win their fourth ACC Tournament title in the past five years.
The Blue Devils lead the way with 19 ACC Tournament titles overall and only four...
Can Terps Do It Again?
Duke is unbeaten with a healthy Ryan Kelly in the lineup and the 6'11" senior forward adds an extra dimension to the Blue Devils attack. The Terrapins beat Duke 83-81 in College Park just last month, but Kelly was still sidelined due to injury.
"Ryan changes the dynamic of the team," said Dez Wells, who scored 21 in the Terps tournament opening win...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – ACC Tournament Day 2 Edition
Tonight Duke FINALLY begins ACC Tournament play as they square off against their hated rivals the Maryland Terrapins who struggled for most of the game to beat Wake Forest. Both Alex Len and Dez Wells were in foul trouble so that will be something to watch tonight. It will be Ryan Kelly’s first game against Maryland this season. Duke went 1-1 against Maryland in the regular...
Maryland-Duke Preview
Duke's case for a No. 1 seed in next week's NCAA tournament seems to be rather solid, but a few victories in the ACC tournament could make a spot on the top line all but a given.
When the conference has held its annual March gathering in Greensboro, the No. 2 Blue Devils rarely do anything but win.
Second-seeded Duke looks to win a 10th straight ACC tournament game at the...
Duke dominates UNC from start to finish
By Josh Evans - “Seth Curry was toying with us in the first half.” This was a quote taken from Roy Williams himself after the game in the press conference. That certainly was the case as Duke built an early double digit lead and never looked back. Seth Curry was the reason for that lead. Seth Curry was hitting everything early. He had 15 points in the first 10 minutes of the...
ACC Power Rankings: Duke back to No. 1
There is a new team atop the ACC weekly power rankings for the first time in six weeks. There were some other shakeups, as well, and near consideration for a new bottom club.
Duke sent a message to the rest of the college basketball universe while UNC failed doing so. Virginia breathes a sigh of relief, Mark Turgeon has to be really upset, and Erick Green still gives us a reason...

As North Carolina falls, Duke rises
CHAPEL HILL, NC --- This was supposed to be North Carolina's re-emergence onto the national scene.
The Tar Heels fell out of the country's consciousness two months ago after a series of ugly defeats, low-lighted by a 26-point drubbing at Miami. But, admittedly stubborn coach Roy Williams changed his stripes, switching to s smaller, more perimeter-oriented lineup, and aside...
