Willingham should fit nicely into right field
MINNEAPOLIS New Twins outfielder Josh Willingham has just 11 career at-bats at Target Field, playing three games there last season when the Oakland Athletics came to town. It's a small sample size, to be sure, but Willingham showed in that series that he should have no problem hitting at what has been tabbed as a pitcher's ballpark.

Why 2012 Is An Important Year For the Twins (Part One)
The Twins were one of baseball’s biggest disappointments in 2011. After winning the American League Central division in back to back seasons, the Twins lost 99 games last year and were irrelevant for the majority of the season. Several key players had extensive stints on the disabled list and many players who were healthy were extreme disappointments. The Twins farm system is lacking...

Pressing Questions: The Minnesota Twins
John Sorbi, an old buddy of mine, visited a number of baseball stadiums during a cross-country jaunt in the summer of 1995. He was still jaded by the strike in those days, but he didn't let that get in the way of exploring baseball history. When Jonas walked into Tiger Stadium on a summer day in '95, he carried a simple sign to get his point across:
Just Here for the Park...

Farewell 2011
Yet another
year has passed us by and I am headed into my fifth full season of operating
this blog.
Strange how
things happen over five years. It is amazing to me how this went from being a
place where I posted my personal thoughts and findings -- doing so shrouded in anonymity
because I was partially ashamed to admit that I was “blogging” (the word just
sounds awful, right...

Improvement in Twins rotation must come from within
The onus is on Scott Baker, Nick Blackburn and Francisco Liriano.

What is the plan for the rotation?
Baseball’s GMs have invaded Milwaukee and the game’s roster-creators are undoubtedly using the time to discuss impactful deals presumably in-between stops at the Miller Brewery tour and the Harley Davidson factory.
On Wednesday Twins’ general manager Terry Ryan checked in from Wisconsin with Tom Pelissero and Phil Mackey for 1500ESPN’s Talkin’ Twins feature and illuminated...

Roy Oswalt?
Sports Illustrated is doing a team-by-team preview of each club’s off-season plans. You can read the entire thing yourself, but relevant to our conversation here is the list of “targets” they identify for the Reds: SP James Shields, SP Roy Oswalt, SP C.J. Wilson, SP Jon Danks, SP Scott Baker.
Shields: yes, please. Wilson: too expensive and probably not worth the money he...

End of Season Post-Mortem: The 2011 Minnesota Twins
It was uh, not a good season for the Minnesota Twins. We normally break this down into "what went right" and "what went wrong"...I'm not sure I can find anything in the "right" side of things. A year after winning 94 games and winning the AL Central title yet again, the Twins lost 99 games in 2011, finished last in the AL Central, and will actually pick second in the 2010 amateur...

2011 MLB Season in review: Minnesota Twins
While we wait for the St. Louis Cardinals to finish their 2011 season, we will shift our focus to the American League Central. We start there with the last place Minnesota Twins. I cannot believe we are actually saying that put with a number on injuries the Twins really got kicked around this year. I think if they get healthy this season becomes a statistical abnormality...

About Last Night......10/13/2011
Is this a new feature? Maybe.
1. Justin Verlander is on a whole different plane of existence than anybody else. It's not that he pitched 8 innings in a game where the team's bullpen was essential empty (because Valverde and Benoit had pitched three straight days and everybody else sucks), and not even because he threw 133 pitches. I can't decide what was more impressive...

Twins Season Wrap - Corner Infielders
I'm going to lump 1st and 3rd together because I'm starting to realize if I really do this one position at a time I'm probably going to kill myself. I'm going to start with 3b because that's a little more clear cut - and it really comes down to if you believe Danny Valencia is the long-term solution or not.
After last season when Valencia finished 3rd in R.O.Y. voting and OPS+ed...

Top 6: struck out swinging against Slowey
Top 7: struck out swinging against Slowey
Top 9: called out on strikes against Scott Baker
Final Line: 0-for-4, 4 K
Notes: Really not too much to say about Liddi’s golden sombrero against Slowey and the Twins on Wednesday. It’s the sort of thing that will happen when you are...

Scott Baker Quietly Put Together A Very Solid Year
Minnesota had a respectable rotation in 2010. Led by Franscisco Liriano, who’s 6 WAR season was good for third among American League starters, groundball machine Carl Pavano and Brian Duensings’s fluky 2.63 ERA, the Twins took over the AL Central lead in the middle of August and never looked back. Scott Baker was virtually an afterthought last year, pitching to the tune of...

Life. Soul. Crushed.
Do you have any idea how hard it is keep writing this stupid blog when the Twins are this uselessly useless? God every time I sit and think, "I really need to write something" I then get this nearly uncontrollable urge to stab my own eyeball with this pen (NOTE: the god damn pen is blue). They just drain your life force like a Dememtor or Myrddraal or Shade or Ring Wraith...
