Shawn Springs says Redskins should get Kyle Orton
Because it’s November in Washington, Tuesday’s release of Kyle Orton meant the biggest sports topic in this town was whether the Redskins should be interested. And really, I can see both sides.
On the one hand, the Grossman-Beck plan seems maybe not to have given the Redskins a quarterback on par with, say, Tom Brady. On the other hand, we’re talking about Kyle Orton here....

Ohio State And TTUN: My Thoughts
"The Game" is backHere we are, at a week like no other on the calendar. There are other big weeks in the sports world. The first weekend on the NCAA Tournament, the Final 4, the Super Bowl, maybe even the Indianapolis 500 are all great weekend. However, each of these weeks pales in comparison to the week that is Michigan Week.Michigan Week (this is the last time I will refer to...

Fletcher had a typically dominant day on Sunday, finishing with a team-leading 16 tackles, two for a loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. On yesterday’s post-game show with CSNWashington, Redskins linebacker London Fletcher fielded questions from the crew.
Former Redskins player and old friend Shawn Springs asked Fletcher first about his prolific dance following his...

Former Redskins CB Rogers thriving in fresh start
Carlos Rogers grew tired of the constant comparisons in Washington. All the questions about how he stacked up as a cornerback against Shawn Springs or Fred Smoot or DeAngelo Hall.
Good thing new 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh refuses to compare anybody. He preaches that his players only need to be themselves in order to flourish in his system.
And it sure is a good fit for Rogers, who...

You and Whose Army? - My 2001 Seattle Seahawks Story
Millions of people found their own ways to cope in the dark days after the 9/11 attacks, and my thin tether to sanity was, yet again, the Seahawks. Every week I'd endure the indignities of being the only Seahawks fan at some noisy, overpriced sports bar, but it was worth it- as Homer Simpson once said, it was a break from "stupid reality." Those 2001 Seahawks were a...

LSU cornerback Peterson could be No. 1 pick in draft
A cornerback never has been taken first or second overall in the NFL draft. In 1997, the Washington Redskins selected Shawn Springs with the No. 3 choice, matching Atlanta's nabbing of Bruce Pickens at the same spot in 1991 as the highest a prospect at the position has been taken.

Is Patrick Peterson worth a top-five pick?
When you own a top-five pick you expect to land a perennial All-Pro, and someone capable of anchoring your team for the better part of the next decade.
For that reason, certain positions are selected in the top five more frequently than others, such as quarterback, offensive tackle and defensive lineman. Those are generally safe positions to draft high, producing a relatively low...

Memories of The Game
[Ed: Bump for truth.]
"Remembrance of things past is not necessarily the remembrance of things as they were." (Marcel Proust)
We all begin these stories with two simple words: "I remember." That is how mine begins too.

The Cornerback Situation (NOT GOOD)
After losing top cornerback Domonique Foxworth for the season to a torn ACL, the Ravens needed some help in the secondary.
The Ravens signed undrafted free agent Chris Hawkins out of LSU.
Thus, with multiple highly-regarded cornerbacks in the free agent market, including Fred Smoot and Shawn Springs, the Ravens used the flexibility of a year without a salary cap and an open roster...
