2014 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 21-32

21. Green Bay Packers (8-7-1): Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State University The Packers are in tough situation because they need a lot of upgrades on the defensive side of the ball. The Packers are ranked 24th in pass defense and 25th in run defense.  With B.J Raji, an impending free agent and his price tag probably too high for the Packers to be able to resign him.  The Packers...

Oakland Raiders still lack impact players, must find some in NFL Draft

The Oakland Raiders and general manager Reggie McKenzie have done a good job improving the team roster this offseason. Between free agents and the trade for quarterback Matt Schaub, the Raiders have added 13 new faces to the roster this year and the majority of them will be starters who represent upgrades to the positions they are being brought in to play. But even with the addition...

Raiders free agents are older, but are proven winners

Despite a slow start to a highly anticipated free agency, Oakland Raiders’ general manager Reggie Mckenzie has definitely picked up steam. The team has signed 12 free agents and re-signed four of their own who were set to hit free agency. Within Raider Nation, Fridays are fast becoming McKenzie’s day of work for that seems to be when all the new signings have occurred. The most...

Tale of the Tape: CB Tarell Brown

Every year, I look at the Raiders new additions, both through free agency and the draft, and break down what I see are the strengths and weaknesses of each player. This year, I am starting with recent addition, CB Tarell Brown, who jumped the bay from San Francisco to Oakland on a 1 year, $3.5 million dollar fully-guaranteed deal earlier this week. Brown was considered one of...

Niners’ perspective of new Raiders Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown and Kory Sheets

The Oakland Raiders will have three new players on their roster in 2014 who have spent time with the San Francisco 49ers. Two of them, Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers, will see significant playing time with the Raiders next season and the third, Kory Sheets will be competing to earn playing time. In order to get to know these guys better, I sat down with a friend of mine who runs...

Carlos Rogers wants to ‘continue to win and try to get to that Super Bowl’

Free agent cornerback Carlos Rogers told reporters Monday that a big part of his decision to sign with Oakland was their offseason moves this year to bring in a lot of veterans with experience in big games. “Yes, that was a big part of it,” Rogers said, via the team’s website. “Part of it is they were one of the teams that definitely stayed after me throughout the process...

But while Jackson was in Washington DC meeting with the coaches and general manager there, the Raiders had their own guest. Raiders Aggressive Moves, #DJaxToOakland, and The Road Ahead

So far this offseason, the Oakland Raiders have been more aggressive than a recently divorced man on his Match.com account. However, unlike a creeper on the prowl on the internet, how could you not like what the team is doing? Granted, the start of free agency felt like the same old, crazy, against the grain Raiders when they had let Jared Veldheer and Lamarr Houston walk away, and...

Tarrell Brown says 49ers made “slap in the face” offer

Free-agent cornerback Tarell Brown signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal to remain in the Bay Area, jumping from the 49ers to the Raiders. So if that’s what Oakland offered to get Brown, what did the 49ers pony up to keep him? “[I]t wasn’t what I wanted and it was to me more of a slap in the face,” Brown told Erik Kuselias of Pro Football Talk on NBCSN. “But I understand...

Oakland Raiders Offseason: The Roller Coaster First Week Of Action

To say that the first week of the new NFL calendar year was a rollercoaster ride for the Raiders would be a supreme understatement.  The rising optimism of having close to $70 million in cap space began to spiral down the tracks when the team was unable to come to terms with Rashad Jennings, Jared Veldheer, and Lamarr Houston on new contracts. They had to void the new contract...

Oakland Raiders sign CB Tarell Brown

Tarell Brown has been an above average starter for the 49ers in each of the past 3 seasons, grading out above average on Pro Football Focus in each of the last 3 seasons, maxing out at 13th overall in 2012, including 4th in pure coverage grade. However, the worst of his 3 seasons as a starter was this season as he “only” graded out 32nd and missed 3 games with a rib injury that...

Grading week one of Oakland Raiders free agency

Day one of the free agency frenzy left fans breathing heavily into paper bags. Lamarr Houston was gone as was Jared Veldheer and the only new player coming to Oakland was Rodger Saffold (who would soon be leaving again). All the cap space for making moves was still in Reggie McKenzie’s pocket and Raider Nation was quickly bracing for full panic mode. What a big difference six days...

New Raiders cornerback Tarell Brown called it a “domino effect,” and the pieces of a new defense are falling into place the last couple of days. What’s next in free agency, now that Oakland has added Brown and defensive linemen Justin Tuck, Lamarr Woodley and Antonio Smith?
