April featured strong performances from a number of the Padres highly-regarded pitching prospects. On the offensive side however, the top production came from unheralded and forgotten players. MLB News: The San Diego Padres placed pitcher Tyson Ross on the disabled list Saturday due to a left shoulder dislocation. It is to his non-throwing shoulder, so his recooperation time shouldn’t be nearly as drastic as if it had been his throwing arm. Daily Friar 8.26.12

How does it feel to be a fan of one of the hottest teams in baseball right now? I for one love what the Padres have been doing of late on the field, they are executing on offense and the pitching has been superb. Like I said yesterday, one of my biggest fears was that the team wouldn't be able to pitch as well at Chase Field. But both Eric Stults and Clayton Richard have been...

Daily Friar 8.24.12

The way the Padres have been playing of late an off day seems like a tiny little curse. I want to see these guys play every day! But it is a good thing to get the off day now and then to get rested up and then get back to what they are doing best right now. Tonight is the first game of a series in Arizona. We all know about the past history there for the Padres, but this year has...

Daily Friar 8.23.12

The Padres are the best team in baseball. Seriously go look it up, it's a proven fact. Alright, maybe that's not entirely true, but they sure are taking the role of spoiler to heart. The Pirates will most likely finish about .500 for the first time in forever, but to add something more sweet to that they are trying for a playoff push. After the Padres swept them this past...

Game 2012.65: Rockies at Tigers

Detroit Tigers, 30-34, 4 games behind Chicago (1st), 4 1/2 ahead of Twins (last). That was an exciting game last night. I had to leave before the extra innings, but I’ve got it recorded and will watch as soon as I finish this blurb.  I can’t wait! Looks like Valverde is coming in in a non-save situation, but I’m sure it will work out fine. This afternight (4:00 start) Doug...

Tigers edged by Rangers in 11th inning

DETROIT -- Yes, the umpires blew a call in the 11th inning of Detroit's 3-2 loss to Texas on Sunday. No one disputes that, including the umpires. That said, it probably didn't cost the Tigers the game. With the score tied after 10 innings, Tigers manager Jim Leyland was forced to use Thad Weber in relief. Weber was making his major-league debut and facing baseball'...
