Practice report: Swearinger ready to return
With senior safety D.J. Swearinger out of last week's game against Missouri due to a helmet-to-helmet hit in the UAB game the week before, freshman T.J. Gurley stood in and had a solid game. This week Swearinger returns as sixth-ranked South Carolina looks to move to 3-0 in SEC play when they travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky.
Gurley was only option
T.J. Gurley will be making the first start of his career Saturday afternoon when seventh-ranked South Carolina hosts Missouri in an SEC showdown. Gurley will be replacing the emotional leader of the Carolina defense, D.J. Swearinger, who was suspended Monday for a helmet-to-helmet hit in Saturday's game against UAB.
Practice report:: Sheldon Royster to transfer
Safety Sheldon Royster has chosen to leave the South Carolina program less than a week from the beginning of the 2012 season. It is unclear where Royster may transfer. That opens the door further for freshman T.J. Gurley to earn playing time. Also, updates on the injuries of Connor Shaw, D.L. Moore, and Brandon Wilds.
