TODD JONES NEWS

A Closer Look

Over their history the Marlins have had their share of inconsistent and unreliable closers.    It hasn’t been all bad over the years for Miami though, as they have had a few dominating finishers as well.   Heath Bell who will take over the role in 2012 may wind up the best closer in Marlins history but he does have some competition for that title. Bryan Harvey served as...

The advantage of the Marlins reliever plan

The Marlins have made it very clear that one of their goals this offseason was to revamp the bullpen after last season’s disaster. Leadership

When the Mariners decided to call a players only team meeting last week, it got me thinking about the importance of leadership. It may be the hardest trait to quantify. There is definitely no stat for it. It’s a label that gets applied typically to veterans, disproportionally to Caucasians, and usually to guys that hustle and speak well to the media. But that doesn’t mean...

TODD JONES DOES AWESOME IMITATION OF MAGGLIO ORDONEZ DURING RAIN DELAY

Todd Jones is a funny dude. I remember one year I was at the Phillies vs. Tigers game  at Citizens Bank Park. We were standing over the Tigers bullpen and Todd Jones had about a 20 minute conversation with my friends and I. I noticed his socks looked a little funny and asked him about it. He lifted his pant leg up and had argyle dress socks on. Funny dude.

Alabama's championship created a special memory
