Vinny Prospal Gives The Best Hockey Interview Ever!

After being the number one star in Tampa Bay's 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens, Vinny Prospal was still pissed. Unhappy after being demoted from Vinny Lecavalier's and Martin St. Louis' line for a few games, he let his feelings be known about the people who made the decision to give him less ice time.

If nothing else, the Tampa Bay Lightning's front office appears to be learning from their rookie mistakes of last summer. Unfortunately, the Phoenix Coyotes have reached their quota for assuming other teams' bad contracts after taking Radim Vrbata from the Bolts, so Tampa announced it's going to have to buy out the remaining three years of Vaclav Prospal's contract...

Another mediocre Euro flees to KHL, will anyone follow? (I’m looking at you Prospal)

By KYLE BAUER Now some guys are getting desperate, or maybe not. The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) –born out of the Russian Super League– has mined European NHL talent for the past four seasons in an attempt to boost their notoriety and talent pool. So far, the crop has been mostly veteran defectors- Sergei Fedorov, Alexei Yashin, Viktor Kozlov, Jozef Stumpel, Marcel...

Simon Gagne return unlikely

Over a month ago, I discussed the possibility that Simon Gagne, who has been out since February with concussion symptoms, might return to the ice if the Flyers make the Stanley Cup Finals. Well, with the Flyers a mere four wins away from the Stanley Cup Finals, it now seems there is little hope that Gagne will be suiting up any time soon. When asked about Gagne's possible...

On the Beat: Buying out Vaclav Prospal and the U.S. Hall of Fame inductees

What team beat writers are saying this afternoon: Take a look at the Bruins’ possible opening night lineup.  That team is pretty stacked and it doesn’t even include Kessel and Krejci.  Granted there still are some concerns on defense, but the Bruins should, once again, be a dominant force in the Eastern Conference. Tony Amonte has been [...]

Flyers Acquire Vaclav Prospal

After finally notching a win, the Flyers got more good news, as they announced they had acquired former Flyer Vaclav Prospal from the Tampa Bay Lightning for minor league defenseman Alexandre Picard and a draft pick. Prospal was in a feud with the Lightning coaches over his playing time, so the Flyers might have gotten a bargain. Here is a hilarious interview he did after a recent...

Martin Biron = Islander Killer

The Flyers look to be turning the corner again at just the right time. They defeated the New York Islanders 4-1, mostly thanks to a tremendous effort by Martin Biron. Biron, who made 32 saves and gave up the lone goal late in the third period, has owned the Islanders this season, going 6-0 against them. He has a chance to earn another win against the Islanders when the teams play again next week.

Jon Jordan: Prospal Buyout Implications

As was first reported (via Twitter) by Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune, the Tampa Bay Lightning are in the process of buying out the remaining three years of forward Vaclav Prospal's contract. Flyers trade Prospal back to the Lightning

Paul Holmgren did it again, this time getting something for nothing. Vaclav Prospal, who the Flyers acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in February, was sent back to the Lightning for two draft picks: a 7th round pick this year and a conditional pick next year. Prospal had no interest in coming back to the Flyers and it was unlikely that the Flyers could afford him, so Holmgren...

Vaclav Prospal is Gone, But His Cap Hit will Live on

Following a season in which he tied for the fourth-worst plus/minus rating in the NHL (-20), 34-year-old Vaclav Prospal cut ties with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. Whether that poor rating was the result of a drop in his play or just the result of playing on a bad team, Prospal won't be given a chance to prove otherwise with the Bolts. He was due to make $3.5 million during...
