And now, will you please join me in prayer. I think you know what I'm whispering to folded hands, don't you?

Royals Sign Bloomquist
January 10, 2009 by
Eli's MLB Rumors
| Comments
The Royals and free agent infielder Willie Bloomquist have agreed to a two year deal. Bloomquist, who hit .279 with 0 HR in 71 games, really is not the type of player the Royals needed. He did have a .377 OBP, but his career OBP is .322, so to say he is an on-base guy is way off base...
Royals notebook: Bloomquist or Maier will replace Crisp in center

Look for the Royals to choose between Willie Bloomquist and Mitch Maier as their interim center fielders while Coco Crisp recovers from a strained right rotator cuff. Manager Trey Hillman shows no inclination to move David DeJesus back to his old position.

Pretty much everybody that gives a crap about baseball understands by now that the Mariners are way different from how they used to be, but people's minds have been changed by different events. Some people were convinced by the hiring of Jack Zduriencik. They knew about him...

Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Thursday when the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians meet at Progressive Field. The Royals will give the ball to ace starter Gil Meche in this one. Righthander Meche is 1-0 this season with a 2.25 ERA. Starting this game...

Could the Seattle Mariners go with a 6-man bullpen and 5-man bench, rather than a 7-man 'pen and 4-man bench? That is the latest rumblings, here's how they could pull it off:

Well, if we ignore that two-game set in Japan last week anyway. The M's retain all 162 opportunities to win games at this point. No yelling at Mac for stupid manager tricks. No bemoaning the sorcerers of roster construction (we'd just be adding to the din anyway). Not even any...

Initially I really liked this deal for the Pirates, who during this season earned the benefit of the doubt in my mind. After learning that Iwamura was only under contract through 2010 however, I was less excited. As often gets said with deals like this, "well, the Pirates...

Similar to the 2010 Relievers post from several days ago, this is meant to present a snapshot of who remains on the roster, can we jettison some dead weight, and are there any holes to be filled? The particulars about how many batters the team keeps on the 25-man and how...

Season Wrap Up
Despite having the ninth ranked payroll in the major leagues at $118 million (and bringing the face of their franchise, Ichiro Suzuki, back in the off season), the Mariners still managed to lose 101 games and finish in last place in 2008. Prior to the season, many believed...

Kansas City finally won a game after losing eight in a row. Luke Hochevar allowed just two runs over 6 2/3 innings, his only mistake a rare home run by Raul Chavez. Mark Teahen matched the two-run shot and added a third RBI, and Willie Bloomquist cleared the bases with a triple for [...]

The puns are a-poppin' because it's a perpetual pit of patheticness in Kansas City. David Glass and the Royals have decided that general manager Dayton Moore is doing such a rip-roaringly good job of guiding the U.S.S. Willie Bloomquist that they've locked him up for...

I admit that I've waffled on the idea of trading Carlos Delgado, my biggest concern is how do they replace his production in the line-up. If the team truly needs a shake up ( which I believe it does) then the place to do it is with Delgado, not only is Delgado the only core player...
