The Rule 5 Draft: An eight year review
Bryce Stowell (Photo: Lianna Holub)With the Rule 5 approaching, I thought it might be a good time to dust off this old column and take a deeper look at the last few drafts. For this year I am adding a new breakdown where each year we will also look at the highest level each player has reached. I will only count the highest level though if they make eight starts or appear in ten games...

Rockies’ Taveras enjoys solid spring
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Willy Taveras arrived as piece of a nostalgia. A mere mention of his name brought back memories of 2007, and well, little else. But something funny happened on Taveras’ way back to the obscurity of the minor-league fields. He has played exceptionally well this spring.
He’s still a longshot to make the roster, what with the Rockies currently committed only...

The Colorado Rockies hope that Dexter Fowler steps up in 2011
25-year old switch hitting Dexter Fowler enters spring training as the Rockies’ starting CF. He will need to improve all the way around if he wants to keep his starting gig. Your Rockies-Dodgers lineups
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Did I mention how much I enjoy typing SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. compared to TUCSON, Ariz.?
No offense, Tucson, but, in the end, it comes down to four words: location, location, location and did I mention location?

Havoc
Havoc is the nickname some gave to Willy Taveras in 2009 mocking what Dusty said about him wreaking havoc on the basepaths, considering he never got on base. It also was the anagram for the starting letters of our pitching staff at one point - Harang, Arroyo, Volquez, Owens, and Cueto. This year, we have an abundance of pitching - quality pitching - and no one knows who will be the...

Rockies have fun with arbitration, minor league contracts, and a trade
Over the last week, the Rockies have completed several signings and made one trade. In an effort to be concise, I decided to summarize all of the past week’s activity in one post. Very efficient of me, right? None of the following is particularly earth shattering; nevertheless, it is all worth mentioning. Let’s start with the trade…
