Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic is claiming police harassment after being pulled over for allegedly driving dangerously in his $150,000 luxury sports car, the Courier-Mail reported. Police say the 19-year-old Tomic, who this year became the youngest Wimbledon quarterfinalist since Boris Becker in 1986, is under investigation for "a number of alleged traffic breaches" and also may have breached his special license allowing him to drive the high-powered vehicle. But Tomic, Australia's top-ranked male tennis player, believes he is being victimized by a jealous traffic cop on Queensland's Gold Coast, who has pulled him over several times while Tomic was driving his bright orange BMW M3, the Courier-Mail reported. "He doesn't like me for some reason. . . . He's always on my tail," Tomic said of the officer, whom he refused to name. "I think it's really bad. I haven't done a thing wrong -- I just go about my business as a tennis player." Tomic said he was pulled up Sunday night after he allegedly was seen "hooning," an Australian term that covers driving dangerously and street racing. "I didn't speed. I didn't do any of that stuff," he said. "The car's very loud, but I don't know what he defines as 'hooning.' "It scared me a bit, to be honest. He's pulled me over a few times, but now it's starting to get a little bit more aggressive." Tomic only has a provisional license. He has a special exemption from the Department of Transport allowing him to drive the high-powered vehicle. Police said the special license exemption allowed Tomic to drive the BMW to and from training, but Tomic said he understood he was entitled to drive at any time in the course of his professional duties. "I've got training, gym, massages and meetings," he said. "I don't know what it is -- jealousy or whatever -- but this policeman seems to have it in for me. "If I did the wrong thing, he would charge me, but he hasn't." Tomic said he did not plan to lodge an official complaint about the officer. Gold Coast police on Wednesday dismissed Tomic's claims, saying a review found there was no evidence of any breach of discipline or misconduct by one of their officers, the Australian Associated Press reported.
