Youth Movement

With the coming of the new year, the Canucks have found a rising star within the roster. As of January 2nd, the third line center of the Canucks, Cody Hodgson, has posted 9 points in 9 games. His efforts have been flawless, as shown by holding a positive +/- thus far through the 2012 portion of the season. With both a cunning offensive sense and a defensive effort equal to that of top line centers in the league, Hodgson is proving to be a valid asset in the Canucks deep lineup.
Hodgson's presence became very apparent in his Saturday's late game heroics as he not only scored once in the second to tie up a close battle with the Sharks but he also remained clutch by scoring the game winner with 4:17 remaining in the third period to lead the Canucks to their 29th win on the season. His team leading, two point night pushed him to 29 points on the season, 13 of those points being goals, and his left him 6th in Canucks scoring this season. With output the likes of this coming from a rookie, the Canucks ca

Depth Like An Ocean

First and foremost, I’d like to say I’m sorry I've been gone for so long without posting a new story in a little over a month and a half. I had a very untimely computer crash that had to be dealt with by buying a whole new laptop. Now I’m back and ready to pump out stories for my adoring readers. Thanks for reading guys; hopefully I will have no more setbacks in my writing. Enjoy!
As the title states, this issue is about DEPTH. The Canucks, as everyone on planet Earth knows, is by far the most benefited team in the NHL depth-wise. This is indeed the tool that the Canucks should be using to lead them to victory night after night. The Canucks as of the 2011 NHL playoffs on have been “brain washed” into playing into other teams styles, whether it be the Bruins checking/in your face style, or Nashville’s defensive-minded ways. For whatever reason the Canucks have not been able to play Canucks hockey. The fast, pass first, outskate your opponent style has appeared to die and it is costing the C

Schneiderman, Schneiderman, Does Whatever a Starting Goalie Can!

To keep it simple, the numbers don't lie. Cory Schneider has been a better goaltender than Roberto Luongo during the 2011-2012 campaign. Schneider has won the same amount of games as Roberto, but done it in two less starts (Schneider- 7 wins, 2 of which are shutouts, in 11 starts, and Luongo- 7 wins, none of which are shutouts, in 13 starts). Stats the likes of an unbelievable fourth ranked 1.93 goals against average and a second ranked save percentage of .937 are just further proof that the man between the pipes for the Canucks in his seventh straight start tomorrow night against Nashville, deserves to be a starter in the National Hockey League. During his last two wins, Schneider has stopped over 90 pucks and he's done it in magnificent fashion. His goaltending abilities are keeping up to the elite goaltenders in the NHL, and at the rate he is on he is sure to be a Vezina candidate if he continues to get the amount of starts he has gotten thus far.
Controversy? Of course there is controversy. Wh
