Red Birds Keep on Keeping On

It never ceases to amaze me, the St. Louis Cardinals always exceed my expectations. Each year is the year they finally crack. And it never happens. And it doesn't get less annoying. Or worrisome.

Still, the news never gets better for them. Today, Chris Carpenter was transferred to the 60-day DL. August, September, perhaps February. He'll be back in one of those months.

Matt Clement has been getting pounded in the minors, so now the Cardinals are thinking about moving him to the bullpen.

Good, bad, or indifferent, Cesar Izturis goes to the DL and Nick Stavinoha gets promoted from Memphis.

Yadier Molina is dealing with a concussion. Pujols is just a few days to returning, and Todd Wellemeyer threw on the side.

With all this going on, they go for a series sweep today. Against the Red Sox. In Boston. This is not a team that is going away anytime soon.

There is joy in Cardinal Nation. Chris Carpenter is ok. Well, pretty much ok. After a surprisingly smooth and speedy road to recovery (as far as Tommy John surgery is concerned), Carpenter hit a speed bump. But at least it wasn't a brick wall. There was speculation that a second [...]

Cardinals experiencing a Carpenter delay

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris carpenter was shut down last week after experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired elbow. The pitcher visited Dr. James Andrews on Monday, the same doctor who performed his Tommy John surgery. There was good and bad news from this visit. The bad news well there wasn't much just that he's experiencing normal pain in the recovery just at a later stage then most people. The good, well the good is pretty much the same as the bad. How's that so? Well it means that its normal pain associated with the surgery and he won't need to have more.
