Injured Bama WR Kenny Bell goes through warmups

Alabama wide receiver Kenny Bell was dressed in uniform and warming up before the BCS championship game against Notre Dame.

Bell broke a bone in his lower left leg in the regular-season finale against Auburn on Nov. 24 and had surgery. Alabama hasn't indicated whether he'd be available for the game.

Two days before, Bell was coy on his status. He was cleared to do some work when the Crimson Tide started bowl practice in mid-December.

He's averaging a team-best 25 yards on 17 catches.

Alabama WR Bell has broken leg

No. 2 Alabama's once-deep receiving corps has been hit by its third big injury.

The Crimson Tide lost deep threat Kenny Bell to a broken leg against Auburn, marking the third major hit among receivers this season. It has left a thinned-out group facing No. 3 Georgia in Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game.

Coach Nick Saban said Monday he's considering playing highly touted freshman Chris Black, who had shoulder surgery in August, over the final two games. Black is in line for a redshirt season.

''He's been practicing for three weeks now. Now he's been cleared,'' Saban said Monday. ''So we're going to try to get him some reps because we're getting down to where we only have maybe five guys that have much experience at the position. We still feel good about the guys that we have. We just need to get more guys ready to play so that they can complement each other.

No. 2 Alabama's once-deep receiving corps has been hit by its third serious injury.

The Crimson Tide lost deep threat Kenny Bell to a broken leg against Auburn and now faces No. 3 Georgia in Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game.

Coach Nick Saban says ''we definitely need to get more guys ready to play.'' That could include highly recruited freshman Chris Black, who has been practicing for a few weeks after a preseason shoulder injury.

Black would be in line for a redshirt if he doesn't play in the next two games. He was the nation's No. 2 receiver prospect, according to ESPNU.

DeAndrew White started the first five games before a season-ending knee injury against Mississippi.

The Bulldogs have lost receivers Michael Bennett and Marlon Brown to knee injuries.

Texas A&M stuns No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa 29-24

It was not supposed to be close. The Alabama Crimson Tide was supposed to roll over No. 15 ranked Texas A&M. After all the ‘Tide entered the game 13.5 point favorite and were playing at home.
Alabama will have to hope for some help if they are to have any chance at a National Championship. They still control their destiny in winning the SEC West.
Texas A&M scored 20 points in the first quarter and pressured Alabama all day. Alabama’s A.J. McCarrin did not top 200 yards passing until just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon were shut down. Yet Alabama was not about to give up. McCarrin found Amari Cooper for a 54 yard touchdown pass with 6:09 left to cut A&M’s lead to five.
A&M was forced to a three and out as the Alabama defense found a way to get to Johnny Manziel when it mattered. Getting the ball back Alabama launched another 54 pass from McCarron to Kenny Bell to get down by the goal line. The A&M defense stopped Alaba...

AJ McCarron throws a bomb play action pass to a wide open wide receiver

The Alabama Crimson Tide were down 29 to 24 needing a touchdown to win. AJ McCarron threw up a bomb to a wide open Kenny Bell to put them in a position for a possible game winning score against the Texas A&M Aggies and Johnny “Football” Manziel. Once in the read zone, Texas A&M held the Alabama Crimson Tide to 4th and goal where AJ McCarron was picked off in the red zone. It’s up to the Aggie offense and Johnny Manziel to run out the clock to take down the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers: Three Bold Predictions

Saturday night the Alabama Crimson Tide roll into Death Valley to meet the LSU Tigers. The Tigers are a 9.5 point underdog at home. Will this be the game of the century? Or just another roll of the Tide? Here are three bold predictions.1. Alabama's Defense Will Outscore LSU's OffenseAlabama's defense will outscore LSU's offense by two touchdowns. This may not be as bold as it sounds. LSU's quarterback Zach Mettenberger has just seven touchdown passes this season. Last season in two meetings the Tigers never got to the end zone against the Crimson Tide. This year the Tigers' offense will continue this stat, they will not find the end zone. Saturday night Bama's defense will show the Tigers how to score a touchdown.2. The Tigers' defense will do what hasn't been done against the TideLSU ranks eighth nationally with 13 picks as a team. Saturday night they will show their prowess by intercepting Tide's quarterback A.J. McCarron once.McCarron hasn...

Florida goes down and Kansas State takes the number two position in the BCS rankings, followed by Notre Dame, Oregon, and LSU.
The Alabama Crimson Tide holds the number one spot in the rankings like it has for weeks upon end, but the question of the most talented team in the country has yet to be answered.
The most obvious speculative response from fans is “Alabama is the best team in the country,” but this answer seems rash and difficult to believe. While I will not argue that they are not the best team in the country, I will explain their weaknesses and how they could be knocked off their high horse.
Prior to any criticism for the Crimson Tide, one must a...

No. 1 Alabama rolls past Florida Atlantic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- AJ McCarron threw three touchdown passes, including an early 85-yarder to Kenny Bell, and No. 1 Alabama routed Florida Atlantic 40-7 on Saturday.

Eddie Lacy rushed for 106 yards in the first half for the Crimson Tide (4-0), which rolled to 134 consecutive points and two shutouts before allowing a touchdown in the final minutes.

The Owls (1-3) managed only one first down through three quarters and were outgained 503-110 in total yards. They were coming off a 56-20 loss to another Southeastern Conference power, No. 5 Georgia.

This one was even more one-sided for the 50-point underdogs.

McCarron was 15-of-25 passing for 212 yards before leaving midway through the third quarter. The 85-yarder came 1:42 into the game and is tied for the fifth-longest touchdown pass in Tide history.

The only suspense late was whether Alabama could complete a third straight shutout for the first time since Bear Bryant's unbeaten 1966 team.

#6 Alabama Crimson Tide: College Football 77 in 77

welcome to The Sports Bank 77 in 77. We’re previewing one team a day everyday as the college football season approaches. And we’re doing it in rapid fire sequence. Today, the Alabama Crimson Tide

2011 was: a national title banner year, they were #1 in the preseason 77 in 77 and #1 when it counted and they were the last team standing
2012 will go smoothly if: the defense simply reloads and rebuilds as it returns just 4 starters. The D was #1 overall nationally in all the major categories. Nico Johnson and Robert Lester are the names you’re familiar with, the rest are in the NFL now. Also the OL returns pretty much in tact.
2012 will be rough if: new receivers, new tailback, new starters all over the defense- plenty of question. But this is ‘Bama, where the new guys stepping up are all top recruits. Eddie Lacy will be a good next man in for Trent Richardson
BMOC: all the dudes I mentioned plus the rest of the secondary, Outland Trophy winner and OT Barrett Jones, QB AJ McCarron who...

Alabama Offseason Update

Alabama Offseason Update
By SBRForum.com
No doubt the Crimson Tide are going to be popular in 2012's college football odds among the masses. They may have lost some key pieces from last season, but this team is always stacked on offense and especially on defense, meaning the rest of the SEC is likely in store for another world of hurt.
OK, so Trent Richardson has moved on to the NFL. Receivers Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks have graduated, and the defense has lost some talent too.
That’s not stopping the majority of the public from backing Alabama to reach the national title game once again.
Eddie Lacy was Richardson’s backup last season and will assume a much bigger role in the offense now. There’s also Jalston Fowler and Dee Hart who will see some touches out of the backfield as well.
As for receiving targets, DeAndrew White and Kenny Bell will be two of the main options, as will tight end Michael Williams.
They’ll all be catching passes from quarterback A.J. McCarron, who shou...

Alabama Football Starts Slow, Dominates Tennessee in 2nd Half

The Scoop: The Alabama Crimson Tide shook off a slow start that saw them tied with Tennessee at halftime, and blew it open in the second half to the tune of a 37-6 victory. It moved Alabama to 8-0 on the season, and was the team’s fifth straight win over the rival Volunteers.
Turning Point: Alabama played its worst first half of the season, but came out with something to prove in the second half. The Crimson Tide had taken a 13-6 lead, and had just held Tennessee to its second straight three and out. Derek Dooley decided to go for it on 4th-and-1 from his own 40, and Alabama’s defense stoned Tennessee quarterback Matt Simms on a sneak attempt. The first play of the Alabama drive saw AJ McCarron hit Kenny Bell in the endzone for a 40-yard touchdown to stretch Alabama’s lead to 20-6.
Stat of the Game: Tennessee had 114 yards of total offense in the first half, but were held to just 40 yards in the second half for a grand total of 154 yards. The Crimson Tide also didn’t allow the Vols ...
