Whatever distracts you from the terrible college football season on the way…that’s what we’re here for with the first few teams of the 77 in 77 series. Actually, we don’t. Not at all. We’re here to preview your horrible season Ohio Bobcats fans. Just 76 more days till the Ohio Bobcats season kicks off. Ohio U. has made some funny news in recent years. Not news, but Fark. And Fark is one of my favorite news sites.
And here are a couple examples of stories Fark would love. Remember when the Ohio Bobcats mascot attacked Brutus the Buckeye ? Fun times in this program. (watch video here) I mean believe me I want to repeatedly punch everything and everyone Ohio State too, but I wouldn’t act like on it.

Former Ohio Bobcats punter Paul Hershey did some squawking through social media Let’s say he wasn’t happy that his Bobcats are going to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho, Hershey tweeted:

Ohio batters ULM 45-14 in Independence Bowl

Louisiana-Monroe had the better storyline and what amounted to a home-field advantage.

What the Warhawks didn't have was an answer for Ohio's Tyler Tettleton or Beau Blankenship.

Ohio jumped out to a big early lead and cruised to a 45-14 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Friday in the Independence Bowl, putting a damper on the Warhawks' first trip to college football's postseason since moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 1994.

In his postgame analysis, Louisiana-Monroe coach Todd Berry said he saw plenty of effort. The problem was his guys might have tried a little too hard.

''Guys were trying to make something happen and everybody was trying to make a play instead of playing their responsibilities,'' Berry said. ''There were a lot of busts, not in terms of not knowing how to do something, but in terms of turning a guy loose and obviously that showed.''

Tettleton completed his first five passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns to stake the Bobcats

Independence Bowl: Ohio wins big

Tyler Tettleton threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns, Beau Blankenship scored four touchdowns, and Ohio cruised to a 45-14 victory over Louisiana-Monroe at the Independence Bowl on Friday.

Chase Cochran caught three passes for 162 yards and a touchdown as the Bobcats (9-4) won their second straight bowl game. Blankenship's four rushing touchdowns set an Independence Bowl record. He added 104 yards rushing.

Tettleton was especially sharp in the first half, completing 9 of 14 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns as Ohio built a 24-7 lead.

Louisiana-Monroe (8-5) struggled in its first bowl game after 19 seasons in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Kolton Browning completed 21 of 39 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw three first-half interceptions.

Ohio broke several Independence Bowl records, including the 31-point margin of victory and 556 total yards.

Ohio lost four of five games to end the regular season - including the last three - but looked crisp in a complete performance ag

Ohio runs out of time in upset

Ohio gambled by going for one more play instead of a tying field goal, and Tyler Tettleton was sacked as time ran out, preserving Miami of Ohio's 23-20 upset over the No. 23 Bobcats on Saturday.

The Bobcats (7-1, 3-1 Mid-American Conference ranked 24th in the BCS rankings) played as a ranked team for the first time since 1968, when they finished the season at No. 20. They'd won the last six games in one of the MAC's edgiest rivalries, which added another notable ending.

Kaleb Patterson kicked a 31-yard field goal with 1:24 left, giving Miami (4-4, 3-1) its lead. Tettleton drove Ohio in range to tie it, completing four passes and running twice for 17 yards. His last scramble took the Bobcats to the 7-yard line with 9 seconds left and no timeouts.

Coach Frank Solich chose one more play. Tettleton took the snap, saw no one open and was sacked by end Wes Williams.

Ohio 27, Marshall 24

Tyler Tettleton threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns to help Ohio rally and beat Marshall 27-24 Saturday night.

Tettleton, who completed 20 of 35 passes, moved into Ohio's all-time, top five for career passing completions.

With the game tied 24-all with 5 minutes remaining, Rakeem Cato completed a 9-yard pass to Antavious Wilson. However, Wilson fumbled and the Bobcats recovered at their own 21.

From there, Beau Blankenship ran four straight times to drain the clock and Matt Weller converted a 38-yard field goal with 1:37 left to play.

Marshall (1-2) had a chance to rally, driving from its own 25 to the Ohio 27, but Jelani Woseley intercepted a Cato pass to seal the win.

Cato led Marshall with 432 yards and three touchdowns on 44-of-65 passing.

The win marks the Bobcats' first 2-0 start on the road since 1976 and second consecutive season with a 3-0 start.

Heisman Trophy 2012: Non-BCS players with a shot

In all reality, not a single one of these players has a legitimate shot at winning the 2012 Heisman Trophy. But that doesn't mean these guys don't deserve some consideration.
How tough is it for the small-school stud to win the Heisman? Consider no one has won it from a non-BCS school since BYU's Ty Detmer in 1990. In 1989, Houston's Andre Ware won the honor. Those are your only two non-BCS winners in the modern era.
So don't go off and bet any serious dough on any of these players, but here's a quick lesson on why they are reasonable options for the Heisman.
Tyler Tettleton, QB, Ohio
Tettleton, the son of former Major Leaguer Mickey Tettleton, is so good he convinced an old-school coach like Frank Solich to go with a no-huddle offense.
Tettleton threw for 3,302 yards and 28 touchdowns in leading Ohio to a 10-4 record, including a win Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
He's not Denard Robinson, but Tettleton is still a dual-threat guy. He...

Ohio beats Utah State 24-23 in Potato Bowl

Utah State is no stranger to tense, down-to-the-wire finishes, and the Aggies found a way to win each time in their final five regular-season games.

That streak of narrow wins ended Saturday when Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton scored on a 1-yard run with 13 seconds remaining to give the Bobcats a 24-23 victory in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The loss was a heartbreaker for the Aggies, who were making their first bowl appearance since 1997 and seeking their first postseason win since 1993.

Behind a rushing attack that accounted for 345 yards, the Aggies had led the whole game - at least until Tettleton and the Bobcats offense rallied in the final 2 minutes to spoil Utah State's best season in 14 years.

Despite the disappointing finish, coach Gary Andersen insists he's not about to let his team get down.

''This season has turned young men into men,'' Andersen said. ''It's been unbelievably gratifying to get to this point.''

Tyler Tettleton scored on a 1-yard keeper with 13 seconds left to give Ohio its first bowl victory, 24-23 over Utah State on Saturday in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

After the Aggies failed to run out the clock in the final minutes, Tettleton and the Bobcats' offense took over at their own 39 with one timeout and 2:02 left.

Tettleton was 3 of 4 on the final drive, and his biggest completion was a 14-yarder on fourth down to LaVon Brazill that gave the Bobcats a first down inside the 1 with 37 seconds left.

Tettleton was stuffed on his first try to score. On the next play, he rolled right and outran two defenders to cap the comeback and give the Bobcats their first 10-win season since 1968.

Tettleton was 19 of 26 for 220 yards and he rushed 16 times for another 31 yards.

For Utah State, the loss was a heartbreaker.

The Aggies dominated the first half and extended their lead to 23-10 in the third quarter behind a bruising rushing attack that rolled up 345 yards.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Ohio U. Claims First Bowl Win With Wild Finish

Don't look now, but the Mid-American Conference is 2-0 this bowl season.
It took a 17-point second half and one crazy ending, but Ohio earned its first ever bowl win and reached 10 victories for the first time since 1968.
The wild finish included Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton leading a great two-minute offense, which was capped by Tettleton scoring the game-winner from a yard out with 13 seconds left.
However, the Bobcats thought they had scored two plays earlier when Tettleton, under heavy pressure, connected with LaVon Brazill, who came down just shy of the goal line. However, he fumbled the ball into the end zone and recovered for what was called a touchdown.
The officials reviewed the call and said the call had been confirmed, which resulted in an OU celebration. Then it wasn't clear what they had actually confirmed, only to be told it was a TD. Yep, another celebration.

Of course, ESPN's Mike Bellotti was critical of the call (and rightfully so). So ...
