A mini player rotation has swirled through the NFC East during the days leading up to Thanksgiving. Yesterday, it was announced that the Redskins had signed offensive guard Paul Fanaika off of the Eagles practice squad. Today, the Eagles have replaced the 2009 7th round selection with former Cowboys LG Greg Isdaner. The rookie free agent spent the 2009 preseason with Dallas, only to be released during the final r...

Big East Eliminator: Three reasons West Virginia won't revive its glory years

No one has a clue who's going to win this league. So the Doc's logically crossing off the contenders, one by one. Part of Big East Week.
White out. There's no understating Pat White's impact on the salad days of West Virginia football, whether that's in the record (he was 35-8 as a starter with two conference championships; see below), the numbers (he accounted for 10,529 total yards and 100-plus touchdowns) or his all-purpose panache. If last year's Mountaineers coul...

2009 All NFL Draft Sleeper Team

Offense
QB – Stephen McGee ~ Texas A&M = Another guy who
lit it up at his pro day. He also can really run (4.6). Has a pretty
decent set of tools to develop into a solid backup.
RB – Cedric Peerman – Virginia = His attitude is what
I love. A very serious guy who is built like a small house. Had one of
the best combines (27 reps, 40 inch vert, 4.45 40)
RB – Andre Brown – N.C. State = Ideal size 6’0” 225,
good hands, and he keeps his legs moving at all times. I think Brown
could carry the ball 10-15 times for a team and keep a solid average.
FB – Quinn Johnson - LSU
WR – Austin Collie – BYU = Really impressed at his pro
day running a mid 4.5 in the 40, while showcasing his incredible
catching ability. This guy could develop into another Brandon Stokley.
WR – Jarett Dillard – Rice = Dillard can jump with
anybody in the NFL (42.5 inch vert at the combine), which is ideal
because he is only 5’10”. Didn’t face stiff competition in college, but
he dominated the teams he did face. Has great hands to boot.
TE – John Phillips – Virginia Tech = Phillips reminds
me a little bit of John Carlson, only a little bit slower. He can catch
the ball well, and is a willing blocker.
OT – William Beatty – Connecticut – A little
undersized, but this guy has great feet, a strong punch, good mirror
skills, he just needs to get stronger.
OG – Kraig Urbik – Wisconsin = One of my favorite
lineman in the draft, Urbik hails from the offensive line capital of
college football and his technique/tenacity shows through when you
watch him.
C – A.Q. Shipley – Penn State = A very tough, undersized center that does everything well. Also very strong.
OG – Greg Isdaner – West Virginia = A big, strong guard who is nimble.
OT – Augustus Parrish – Kent State = Great feet, a solid all-around tackle that didn’t face very good competition in college.

Defense
DE – Paul Krugar – Utah = Krugar reminds me a lot of Patrick Kerney. He has a non-stop motor and is a relentless pass rusher.
DE – Kyle Moore – USC = A big defensive end who also can play some tackle in pass rushing situations.
DT – Jarron Gilbert – San Jose State = This guy has
great size/athleticism and has the frame to add on more weight. His
knock is the weak competition he faced in college.
DT – Alex McGee – Purdue = A guy who was a late
addition to the Senior Bowl roster, yet made an instant impact. Guys
from Purdue are known for their burst off the line and this is McGee’s
biggest asset. For being 6’3” 298 he can get up field in a hurry.
OLB – Lawrence Sidbury Jr. – Richmond = Can fly off
the edge, not much strength but won’t get blown back either. He can be
a very good situational pass rusher.
MLB – Scott McKillop - Pittsburgh = Here is a guy who
gets the job done. Does everything fairly well but nothing will jump
out at you. Can be a very valuable special teams player or fill in.
OLB – Zack Follett – California = A big strong guy who
was very productive in college. He also showed surprising athleticism
at the combine (37 inch vert, 4.7 40).
CB – Victor “Macho” Harris – Virginia Tech = Macho is
a guy that many people don’t feel can succeed in the NFL. This guy has
very good instincts, is extremely versatile and could possibly play
safety. His size and straight line speed are a concern. He needs to get
in a zone scheme.
CB – Kevin Barnes – Maryland = One of the top
performers at the combine, had a great pro day, and has very intriguing
size (6’0” 190). A guy who could be a better pro then college player.
SS – David Bruton – Notre Dame = I fell in love with
this guy at the Senior Bowl, and he didn’t disappoint at the combine
either. A big physical safety that will crush opponents coming across
the middle, has the range to defend the pass and excellent size (6’2”
219).
FS – Chip Vaughn – Wake Forest = 6’1” 221 of solid
rock. This guy is a two year starter on a defense that featured Aaron
Curry as well as Alphonso Smith. Vaughn was the “other” guy making big
plays in big situations for the Demon Deacons last season.

Bonus Player – WR Mike Thomas – Arizona = An
absolute burner who runs crisp routes and has good hands. I love him as
a slot receiver on the next level as well as a dynamic kick returner.

IGN Predicts The Meineke Car Care Bowl

Two teams, on course for a possible Orange Bowl matchup, instead
relegated to a minor bowl in North Carolina. But wait, the fans will
travel, especially between a team familiar with bowl status and a team
still trying to remove itself from the basketball shadow that usually
dominates school talk. We got two good teams in a bowl that will help
someone get back on their feet after a late-season stumble. It's time
to preview the Meineke Car Care Bowl!

2009 Top Offensive Prospects (Draft Eligible)

QB

 1. Mattew Stafford (Georgia/Jr.) -While the Bulldogs may not have lived up to the expectations, Stafford is the best pro-style quarterback in the country.
 2. Tim Tebow (Florida/Jr.) -Tebow is a stud, some may say he may not have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback, but I'm not one of those guys. He does what he is asked, his discipline and leadership will carry over to the next level.
 3. Colt McCoy (Texas/Jr) -I love what this guy has to offer, he's the second coming of Tony Romo. He still has to polish up his game and coming back to Texas is the best decision he could have made.
 4. Mark Sanchez (USC/Jr.) -Sanchez has fell off the radar a bit, but his leadership, and accuracy make him one of the top quarterbacks in the nation.
 5. Nate Davis (Ball St./Jr) -To most he's a no name player, on a no name team. But he is putting up huge numbers, can move around in the pocket, and has a rocket arm.

RB

 1. Chris Wells (Ohio. St/Jr.) -While he has been banged up this year, he is still the best all-around back. He has the size, strength and speed teams love.
 2. Javon Ringer (Mich. St./Sr.) -Ringer has been a very pleasant surprise for the Spartan fans. He has exploded this season and has carried the Spartan offense on his back.
 3. James Davis (Clemson/Sr.) -Coming into the season, people were expecting huge things from Davis. But the bottom line is the Tigers just aren't that good. Still, Davis has all the tools to be an effective running back.
 4. C.J Spiller (Clemson/Jr.) -Spiller is a homerun threat every time he touches the ball. His versatility is what separates him from most backs in the country.
 5. Donald Brown (Uconn/Sr.) -While most have never heard of Brown, don't be fooled, he's the real deal. He has good speed and even better vision.

WR

 1. Darius Heyward-Bey (Maryland/Jr.) -Has the size and tremendous speed that the NFL loves. He can jump over as well as run by almost anyone.
 2. Percy Harvin (Florida/Jr.) -Is possibly the biggest homerun threat in college football. When he has the ball in his hands he simply makes big things happen.
 3. Juaquin Iglesias (Okla/Sr.) -Has size, speed, and very good hands. He has been the big play receiver for a few years now in the Sooner Offense.
 4. Derrick Williams (Penn.St/Sr.) -He came to campus as a big chipper, he is leaving as Mr. Versatility.
 5. Brian Robiskie (Ohio. St/Sr.) -Robiskie, is a sure handed receiver who is going to make a very reliable slot receiver. He doesn't have great size, or blazing speed, but he sure knows how to play the game.

TE

 1. Brandon Pettigrew (Ok.st/Sr.) -This guy is a stud, at 6'6 260 he's got the size, hands, can block, and more importantly can make plays after the catch.
 2. Jermaine Gresham (Okla./Jr) -He too has all the tools, he's going to be a real player at the next level.
 3. Chase Coffman (Missouri/Sr.) -Coffman has been a favorite target of Chase Daniels for some time now, and for good reason. He's in the mold of Chris Cooley.
 4. Travis Beckham (Wis/Sr.) -At one point Beckham may have been the best of the bunch, but injuries have slowed him down this season. He's more of a receiving tight end than anything else
 5. Ed Dickson (Ore./Jr.) -Dickson is another Chris Cooley type player, who has the size, and speed to do it all.

C

 1. Alex Mack (Cal/Sr.) -Mack has been regarded as the top center for sometime, he has the size, power and brains to anchor a line at the next level.
 2. Antoine Caldwell (Bama/Sr.) -This guy has been all over the place for the Tide this season, he has the size and athletic ability NFL teams love.
 3. Jonathon Luigs (Ark/Sr.) -Here's another guy, who can really move, he gets to the next level and lays the wood.
 4. Max Unger (Ore/Sr.) -Unger is a solid blocker in both the passing and running game and also has the size to hold his own against defensive tackles.
 5. A.Q Shipley (Penn.St/Sr.) -Regarded by some as the toughest guy in the Big 10, he is similar to Detroit Lions center Dominic Riola.

OG

 1. Duke Robinson (Okla/Sr.) -This guy is a monster, has the power and feet work to start at the next level.
 2. Herman Johnson (LSU/Sr.) -At 6'7 362, he is another mammoth of a man, his feet work could use work, but he's a good in-line blocker.
 3. Sergio Render (VT/Jr.) -Has good athletic ability who can make all the blocks
 4. Greg Isdaner (WVU/Jr.) -Another good athlete, very good open field blocker.
 5. Trevor Canfield (Cinn/Sr.) -Tough as nails guy, with good speed and feet work.

OT

 1. Michael Oher (Miss/Sr.) -Oher is the hands down best tackle in the country, he was made famous by the book Blind Side.
 2. Eugene Monroe (UVA/Jr.) -Moore is not far behind Oher, he has great feet work, and the athleticism teams love in tackles.
 3. Andre Smith (Bama/ Jr.) -He is the best lineman on the best team in the country, he's been dominate in both the running game and passing game.
 4. Ciron Black (LSU/Jr.) -At 6'5 328, he certainly has the size, he is still raw, but has a lot of room to grow as a player.
 5. Phil Loadholt (Okla/Sr.) -At 6'8 340 he is one of the biggest men in college football, while he has the size teams love, he is not very athletic and has trouble with speed rushers.

The List: Big East's Top 10 Players

The Big East has been college football's equivalent of John From Cincinnati. The talent is there. The expectations are there. But the results just aren't.
The conference saw two national title hopes dashed as USF fell on its face after reaching the No. 2 ranking and West Virginia's offense disappeared as it failed to seal the deal in the regular-season finale against Pitt.
Despite an inability to meet expectations, the Big East isn't likely to follow John's example and get...
