Babin: Eagles are a 'socialistic' team

Though he's now a Jaguar, Jason Babin still harbors significant hostility toward the Eagles, who surprisingly released him last month.
Made available to the media Wednesday, Babin didn't hold his tongue. The defensive end touched on a variety topics, including his time in Philly and their "socialistic" organization.
For the former, Babin intimated that he just never jived in the City of Brotherly Love.
"They have a different approach and a different style than I do," Babin said, via Adam Caplan of The Sideline View. "It’s upsetting because they knew what they were getting when they hired me. I don’t know if they were going to try and change me. My stripes are kind of already the way they are, the way I practice, aggressive, loud, the way I play the game. I don’t know, I just guess they thought they could change the way I went about my business."
In reference to his "socialistic" barb, Babin pointed to the firing of defensiv...

Jason Babin digs at the Eagles as he joins the Jaguars

It was not expected that former Eagles defensive end Jason Babin would pass through the waivers process unclaimed.
As some predicted that a short list of contenders would quickly upgrade their pass rush to head into the playoffs, it was obvious that a non-contender would earn his rights thanks to how waivers work.

Jason Babin rips Philly media

During his first press conference with the Jacksonville media, former Eagles defensive end Jason Babin blasted the Philly media for their “loaded questions.”
Of his image in Philly, he said he challenged the Philly writers to be professional. Said they asked loaded questions. @jaguars @eagles
— Vito Stellino(@vitostellino) November 29, 2012

Babin said of Eagles, “Things are kind of stagnant. They cud ultimately get worse before they get better.” @eagles
— Vito Stellino(@vitostellino) November 29, 2012

besides loaded questions, not being professional, babin said Philly writers didn’t tie shoes, wore shorts, had stinky breath @eagles
— Vito Stellino(@vitostellino) November 29, 2012

If Babin had a problem with the Philly media, he’d get eaten alive in New York.
One things for sure, there’s not as much pressure to win in Jacksonville like there is in Philly, so Babin shouldn’t have a problem getting along with the media.

DE Jason Babin laughed when learning of his release from Philadelphia Eagles

Jason Babin doing his QB sack celebration, something he hasn’t done much in 2012.
Bye bye, Jason Babin.
The Philadelphia Eagles defensive end was released on Tuesday, the first prominent player this season to see that fate. Babin, acquired during 2011’s free agent spending frenzy, has not performed anywhere near last season’s Pro Bowl level. His 18 sacks last year have met with dramatically declined production in 2012, with Babin only having 5.5 sacks.
Andy Reid issued the following statement about Babin’s release:
“We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years. We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation.”
To be sure, Babin isn’t the only player on the Eagles defensive line to go silent this season. But the fact that he was unpopular in the locker room, with CSNPhilly’s Geoff Mosher saying that several...

Breaking down potential Jason Babin landing spots

Jason Babin is a free man this morning, which in the pass-rush-happy NFL is kind of a big deal. Babin is less than a year removed from an 18-sack season and could be a valuable addition to defenses league-wide.

Between now and the end of next season, the 32-year-old Babin is due a reasonable $6 million, which means he can at the very least be a rent-a-player for this season but could also stick around in 2013 at a decent enough price.

So, who has the best chance to land the veteran defensive end? Well he'll have to clear waivers before it's a free-for-all, and that process will go down this afternoon. The waiver order is as follows:

	1. Kansas City
	2. Jacksonville
	3. Philadelphia
	4. Oakland
	5. Cleveland
	6. Carolina
	7. San Diego
	8. Buffalo
	9. Tennessee
	10. Detroit
	11. Arizona
	12. New York Jets

Eagles release defensive end Jason Babin

A prized free agent in 2011, Jason Babin has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, and it’s all starting to come apart with the Eagles out of contention. Babin's lone season with Titans proved to be his best, recording 58 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles, which led to a five-year, $27.725 million contract, with more than $16 million in the next three years. He proved to be too rich for the Eagles taste in such a sour season. =

Breaking News; Babin visits top teams

Jason Babin; recently released by the Eagles, is on his way to visit the Atlanta Falcons tonight. Following that visit he will visit the New Orleans Saints Wednesday morning followed by the Denver Broncos Wednesday evening. Assuming that Babin is not claimed on waiver these teams can renegotiate his contract. Now in his second stint in Philadelphia, Jason Babin is a ferocious defensive end who has flourished over the last two seasons and emerged as one of the NFL’s top pass rushers. Babin re-signed with the Eagles as a free agent prior to the 2011 season and earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection after registering a careerhigh 18 sacks. A former first round draft choice (27th overall) of Houston in 2004, Babin has spent time with the Texans (2004-06), Seahawks (2007-08), Chiefs (2008), Eagles (2009) and Titans (2010). Following his Pro Bowl season, Babin signed a five-year deal with the Eagles worth approximately $28 million. This deal included guarantees in the $5–6 million range an

Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Babin Held Accountable

When you’re a two time Pro-Bowl defensive end playing in a wide-nine technique, you have one major function on the field. Sacks! And when you are Jason Babin and you walk away from the win against the Baltimore Ravens without any, you’d expect Andy Reid or Jim Washburn to have some sort of punishment. An incentive to make sure you get it done the next time around.
But Babin didn’t walk up to the mic after the game yesterday with excuses. He didn’t wait for Washburn to give him the sit-down. He came up with his own way. Jason went to his fan club site and posted the following:
“To all my fans. Since I didn’t record a sack on Sunday, I am putting some special things on the site for my fans. Take advantage of it because it stops on Sunday. 20% off with the proper discount code “NOSACKS””
Now we all know Babin will be back next week and ready to give Kevin Kolb a look at the bright blue sky. But since this sale stops on Sunday, I’m assuming Babin is making a pledge to get this do

Report: Philadelphia Eagles DE Jason Babin may miss entire preseason

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin may miss the entire preseason due to a right calf strain injury, a league source tells CSNPhilly’s Reuben Frank .
Babin got hurt on Saturday during 1-on-1 drills.
Per Frank, Babin has suffered a Grade 2 muscle strain, meaning that a small tear exists in the muscle and that there is some bleeding. According to the source,
the injury is a tricky one for a defensive end, because it’s located on the inside of his calf, and the muscle that’s injured is the one that he uses to push off when the ball is snapped.
Babin is coming off a monster season with the Birds, in 2011 making 18 sacks and earning a trip to the Pro Bowl.
Since Babin’s injury occurred, Brandon Graham has had the chance to take his spot on the line with the first team defense and has had a great training camp so far.
Philadelphia’s last preseason game occurs on August 30 at home against the Jets. The regular season begins on September 9 against the Browns in Cleveland.

Philadelphia Eagles DE Jason Babin named one of best bargains in the NFL

Not every player new player signed by the Philadelphia Eagles last season was a bust or took a long time to acclimate to the team’s system. DE Jason Babin had the benefit of having worked with defensive line coach Jim Washburn previously. And that experience helped him have the best season of his NFL career.
Babin recorded 18 sacks in 2011. In 2010 he had 12.5 sacks with the Tennessee Titans, and prior to that, his best season was in 2006, when he had 5 sacks with the Houston Texans.
While the Eagles defense struggled mightly at the start of the season, Babin was ready to go from the word “go.” He produced in the team’s Wide 9 scheme, racking up sacks like it was… okay, well, it is his job. Babin was recognized by his peers throughout the league for his prodution by being named as the 44th best player in the NFL this year.
All of this for the bargain price (in NFL terms) of $5.75 million for the coming year. In a list of the 11th best and worst deals in the league, Jason La Canfora ...

Eagles DE Babin’s plans to run with the bulls are off

Philadelphia Eagles DE Jason Babin made headlines recently when he revealed plans to run with the bulls in Pamplano, Spain in July.
It didn’t sound like a good idea at the time and after teammates, including Mike Vick, questioned the wisdom of the decision, Babin will reportedly plan to check off this item from his bucket list at a later time.
Babin didn’t directly come out and say, “I no longer plan to run with the Bulls, ” but instead feigned confusion.
“I’m not sure what you guys are talking about. I’m a little confused. I’m not a big basketball fan but growing up I was a Bulls fan. I’m confused. I have a lot of bulls on my farm in Texas.”
Did his teammate’s comments get to him? Did he get an official talking-to from someone on the team? We may never know. The most Babin would say about the change of heart was, “things change, times change.”
So it seems.

When arriving at the Philadelphia Eagles OTAs this week and explaining his absence from last week’s practices, DE Jason Babin revealed something unexpected: He’s planning to run with the bulls in Spain in July.
Alarm bells rang with fans, teammates and I’m guessing several members of the coaching staff and front office. Here are some of the reactions of other Eagles:
Mike Vick: “I’m going to try to talk him out of it, if it’s the truth. I would much rather have him on my team this year than have anything catastrophic happen, so we’re going to keep him on the safe side.”
Jeremy Maclin: “That’s Babin for you. I wouldn’t do anything like that, personally.”
Jason Kelce: Babin’s a crazy dude. He’ll do anything to put his life at risk, for whatever reason.”
Evan Mathis: “There’s no way he’s serious. He can’t be series….maybe he’ll go and watch, but he can’t be dumb enough to run with them, is he? Is he?”

Philadelphia Eagles DE Jason Babin has a man card, and he’s not afraid to use it. Sack-meister by day, bear hunter and bull-dodger by night.
Jason Babin is the most extraordinary man in the world. And, he doesn’t always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis.
I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but if you haven’t, the latest on Babin is that he just returned from a bear-hunting expedition in Alaska and is now planning on running with the bulls in Pamplona.

Maybe I’m crazy, but, hasn’t there been people who have been killed and/or seriously injured doing this? I mean, running with hundreds of people while having six bulls come up from behind certainly seems a tad risky, right?
At the top of the list would be the risk of being gored, followed by being trampled. However, there is also the inherent risk of a “normal” injury, like a broken bone or tearing a ligament.
If Jason Peters can rupture his Achilles from just working out, th...

Jason Babin’s wild, whacky offseason adventures: Next up, running with the bulls

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin was a no-show to the team’s OTAs last week. He had planned to be with his teammates, but things don’t always go according to plan when you are in the midst of a grand adventure.
Babin was in Alaska on a trip to hunt black bears. What was already sure to be a memorable experience became even more so when Babin got trapped in a storm and couldn’t make it back to Philadelphia. He also had no way to let anyone know what was going on.
“When the weather blows in, you don’t have a lot of options. There were times when the tents bended so hard, it was hitting us in our sleeping bag. There was snow drifting over.”
Babin survived by eating freeze dried meals and getting drinking water from glacier. On top of it all, he wasn’t able to kill a bear. His wife is making sure that he plans ahead next time.
“Put it like this: My wife said, ‘If you ever want to go on a trip like that again, you’ll be buying a satellite phone.”
You go, girl.
Babin is not o...

Eagles Exclusive: Pro Bowl Defensive End Jason Babin Skype Interview

I’m growing a phenomenal crew here on Bleeding Eagle Green, so good that I was afforded the extremely rare opportunity to have a Skype interview with Philadelphia Eagles 2011-12 Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin for just the third episode of Bleeding Eagle Green TV. All the thanks goes to Jason Babin, my colleague Brian Talon, the folks over at www.babinfanclub.com, and Jason’s publicist for getting everything set up. Lastly, a lot of credit to my video editor Andrew Pochan as this was not only my first “face-to-face” interview, it was my first Pro Bowl player interview.
Babin is currently in Hawaii to partake in his second Pro Bowl after a tremendous 2011 campaign. He recorded 40 tackles, 18 quarterback sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Best of luck to him playing with the best-of-the-best and now I’m looking forward to training camp more-so than ever!
Hopefully Eagles fans, there will be plenty of Philly players to appear in the future, but this one…I’m relishing this one!
