The Brandon Wood Bowl, where Michigan State will take on the team Brandon Wood transferred from when he came to MSU. Wood who is playing professional in Hungary will not be able to make the game, but his father will be in attendance. Wood was also given the day off from practice so that he could watch his two former teams play. Which team is Brandon rooting for? Apparently: He will stay neutral.

	Three Things to Watch:

	1. Ryan Broekhoff: If you haven’t seen him play before; this kid loves to launch the three. Broekhoff can also pass and rebound the ball, he does it all for Valparaiso. If Valparaiso has any chance at winning it will be because Broekhoff is draining some threes, rebounding the ball and dishing to teammates. I doubt that happens, but it is March…

	2. Branden Dawson’s First Tournament Game: Well Branden has averaged 3.6 points per game

Spartans have hands full with Valpo's Broekhoff

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Michigan States NCAA tournament game against Valparaiso on Thursday (12:15 p.m. EDT tip-off) will seem as if its being played inside-out at times.

Spartans power forward Adreian Payne (6-foot-10, 240 pounds) will be defending Crusaders forward Ryan Broekhoff (6-7, 215) out beyond the 3-point arc much of the time.

Broekhoff, an Australian, averages six 3-pointers per game and leads Valpo with 15.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Ryans kind of a unique player for us, Crusaders coach Bryce Drew said. Hes kind of a perimeter player, but he plays some of the floor for us.

"Weve seen all types of matches. Weve seen the five man on him. Weve seen the one man on him. So well have to wait and see how Michigan State matches up.

Break Broekhoff and you break Valpo.

What I love about him most is, he just loves to compete, he loves to win, Drew said, As you can see, he doesnt have the biggest frame ... doesnt have a lot of pounds on him.

"But he is our leading rebounder because

Crazy night of college hoops highlighted by several buzzer-beaters (Video)

March Madness is officially upon us. Conference championship play has begun across the nation, and Saturday marked one of the most exciting days of college basketball we have ever seen. Buzzer-beaters became the theme of the night, as four teams knocked off their opponents with dramatic last-second shots. Let’s start with the Big East, which has always been known to provide us with some of the best drama in college hoops. On Saturday, Marquette’s Vander Blue helped his 15th-ranked Golden Eagles grab a share of the Big East regular season title with a last-second layup in overtime against St. John’s. The title is Marquette’s first since joining the Big East in 2005. As usual, the smaller conferences were also filled with plenty of excitement as teams fought for an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. In the Horizon League semifinal, Valparaiso’s Ryan Broekhoff drained an off-balance three-pointer at the buzzer against Green Bay to give his team a 70-69 win and punch a ticket to Tu...

Bryce Drew’s Valparaiso Crusaders Deja Vu!

LeRoyMcConnell III Its been 15 years since Bryce Drew wore a Valparaiso Crusader uniform, hitting that immaculate buzzer beater over 4seeded Ole Miss in the 1998 first round of the NCAA tournament. It was a little over two seconds left in the game and the Crusaders had to go the length of the court down by two points. Bryce’s father, Homer Drew, was the coach on the sideline watching his son perform heroics as he nails a 23 foot 3point shot to win Valparaiso’s first ever NCAA victory.
Now it’s Bryce’s turn to manned the very same sidelines his father did back in 1998, and so far he was able to see some magic first hand Saturday night as his Valpo team beat Green Bay with some familiar heroics. Ryan Broekhoff saves the day for Crusaders as he hits a fade-away three for the game winner. Watch the video below and look at the reaction of second year coach Bryce Drew. Priceless!

Valparaiso 70, Green Bay 69

Ryan Broekhoff made a desperation 3-pointer as time expired Saturday, giving Valparaiso a 70-69 victory over Green Bay and a berth in the Horizon League tournament final.

Valparaiso had pulled within 68-67 on Matt Kenney's 3-pointer with 7 seconds left. After Green Bay's Alec Brown made a free throw, Broekhoff threw up a shot from the right wing while he was falling down. It went in, setting off a raucous celebration on Valpo's home court.

Broekhoff scored 25 points and made five 3-pointers to lead the Crusaders (25-7), who will face third-seeded Wright State in Tuesday's final. The Raiders needed their own buzzer-beater - Miles Dixon's off-balance jumper - to beat Detroit 56-54 earlier Saturday.

Keifer Sykes led the Phoenix (18-15) with 31 points, including four 3-pointers. Green Bay lost despite shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Valparaiso led for most of the game, but Green Bay went ahead 51-49 on Sykes' layup with 8:36 left and didn't trail again until Broekhoff's gam

Ryan Broekhoff scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers, to help Valparaiso cruise to a 67-46 victory over Chicago State on Friday night in a Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic matchup.

Kevin Van Wijk added 12 points and Bobby Capobianco had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Crusaders (4-1), who opened the game on a 16-3 run and never trailed. Jordan Coleman scored six of his eight points during that opening run on a layup and two dunks.

Jeremy Robinson led the Cougars (1-4) with 10 points and was the only Chicago State player in double figures. Both teams struggled to make baskets, with Chicago State shooting 36 percent from the floor and Valparaiso making 40 percent of its shots.
