Alcorn St. 85, Oakwood 41

Alcorn State beat Oakwood 85-41 Sunday in the season opener for the Braves.

Oakwood, who plays out of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, counted the game as an exhibition match.

Alcorn State took a 21-point lead into halftime and continued that pace after the break, outscoring Oakwood 47-24 in the second half.

Alcorn State's lineup boast four starters from last year's team, all which are now seniors. Two of those starters, Ian Francis and Michael Starks, are the Braves' two leading scorers from last season.

The Braves will also look for a spark from sophomore LeAntwan Luckett, who was highly touted out of high school but sat out his entire freshman season.
