Dan Snyder Found The Hill He Wants To Die On

Dan Snyder has made no bones about the fact that he wants his team to keep being called the Redskins. It’s the name he grew up rooting for. He obviously has an emotional attachment to that tradition. That attitude has been reflected in the way the team has taken great pains to brush off the mounting pressure to change its name. The team’s official web site even recently made a defensive joke that those who want the name changed are probably just sneaky mischievous Cowboys fans.
But just as it appears like a name change is almost inevitable, Snyder is growing more and more defiant.
“We’ll never change the name,” he said in an interview with USA Today. “It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.”
Uh oh, someone’s bringing out the big boy capital letters.
Of course, now that Snyder had made this proclamation, he’ll either look extremely foolish for having said this when he eventually has to cave or he’ll stubbornly resist way too long just because he has to stick to his guns. Either way,

Redskins

Though the Washington Redskins have stood fast towards retaining their franchise name, each day they are being pressured more and more towards reconsidering that decision. The name is considered offensive by many Native American while others from different backgrounds are also beginning to acknowledge the name as a racial slur.

In the midst of this prolonged battle, the pressure has still not built up enough to force the team to part with a name that is considered part of franchise tradition. And the scenario doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon with the top of the team brass settling the case with a brief statement in support of the Washington-based team’s Redskins’ moniker.

“We will never change the name of the team,” said Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder on As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.”

C'mon, Sue Us Already

10) Knows that if his team stops being the most infamous slur in professional sports, they'll just become known as a tremendously mismanaged football team9) Wants to corner the market for gear purchases from unrepentant racists8) Doesn't actually know any Native Americans, so the constant injury that he's doing to them can't actually exist7) Scientology doesn't generally have much to say about the Indians, since most of them don't have a ton of money6) Thinks that losing a federal lawsuit is just more free publicity5) Is actually a spectacular performance artist or mole from some other team in the NFC East, whose sole goal in life is to see how low he can drive this franchise4) Dreams that if he can just stick to his guns long enough, he'll be able to one day play the New York Kikes, Dallas Spearchuckers and Philadelphia Filthy Stinking Belgians3) Has the deep desire to show that stereotypes abut short men without functioning ma...

Report: Snyder says Redskins staying

The support might be building, but Daniel Snyder isn't listening.

The Redskins owner removed any doubt about a potential name change for his franchise, telling USA Today that it will "never" happen.

"We will never change the name of the team," Snyder said. "As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it's all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season."

Snyder makes this statement despite growing sentiment to change the name, which some consider a derogatory term for Native Americans. A DC councilman reportedly wants the name changed to Redtails .

But not eveyone is on board with the name change. This poll actually shows there's a lot more support than some might think.

Some diehard Redskins fans probably don't want to let go of the past . Where do you stand on the subject?

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder says the team will 'NEVER change their name.' D

Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder was quoted in saying that “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.” Strong words by the often visible owner. Snyder and the Redskins have been under fire of late saying that the team name is “racist and derogatory” according to DC councilman David Grosso.
There has been a lot of banter as to whether or not the Native Americans are offended by the name “Redskins.” The Associated Press released a poll in which 79% of people polled thought the Redskins should not change their name. This was a 10 percent drop off from the poll conducted in 1992, however only 11% polled in the 2013 poll think the name should be changed.
Most people don’t know that the term Redskin was at one point a derogatory term. Many of us hear the term Redskin and at least in the Washington DC area think of the NFL team. In times like today many of us could care les

Dan Snyder Says The Redskins Will ‘NEVER’ Change Name

For years there has been a smoldering debate in regards to the Washington D.C. professional football team, and their nickname of the Redskins.
The name which has always been known to demean American Indians and seen as racist, has been cause for great debate in the nation’s capital for years.
It seems that for now, that debate can stop. While having a conversation with USA Today, the Redskins owner, Daniel Snyder made it very clear that the Redskins will “never” change their name.

Daniel Snyder Will NEVER Change The Redskins Name

Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder finally (and likely hesitantly, if history is any indication) addressed the latest round of murmurs surrounding a nickname change for D.C.’s most-storied sports franchise:
“We will never change the name of the team,” Snyder told USA TODAY Sports this week. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.”
What if his football team loses an ongoing federal trademark lawsuit? Would he consider changing it then?
“We’ll never change the name,” he said. “It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.”
Well, alrighty then.

Daniel Snyder Insists Redskins Will ‘Never’ Change Controversial Nickname

The public cry for Washington’s NFL team to change its nickname, which many feel is offensive toward Native Americans, has continued to gather steam, but the man ultimately making that decision, Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, remains undeterred.
“We will never change the name of the team,” Snyder told USA Today. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.”
Snyder is known as a man who does what he wants regardless of public pressure or criticism (see the numerous failed player acquisitions made during his tenure). Washington is finally showing signs of life on the field under the leadership of Robert Griffin III, but that has not silenced the cries from fans to retire the nickname the team adopted 80 years ago.
A trademark lawsuit has been filed against the team, but Snyder claims that even federal action will not change his mind...

Snyder: Team name will never change

According to a report from USA Today, Redskins owner Dan Snyder — who doesn’t do a lot of media interviews — spoke to USA Today on Tuesday about the ongoing name change issue. Again, this is a very polarizing issue in the community of Redskins fans. Snyder’s stance is pretty clear. “We will never change the name of the team” The Redskins owner has said this before in the past, and appears steadfast to stand behind in statement. There is currently an ongoing trademark lawsuit going on in regards to the team name, and when asked about changing the name if they lose the battle in court, Snyder had the following to say: “We’ll never change the name,” he said. “It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.” This certainly won’t be the last time we here of this issue. But it appears, at least according to the owner, that the team is going to be named the Redskins for as long as he has a say. “I can say, being one of four girls, sorry to say, the most flat-chested of all four, so I was never supposed to be able to have cancer,” she said. “So that was kind of the joke. They always said to me, ‘You would never have to worry about it. You don’t have enough to have cancer.’ ”
Her husband and his publicist laughed nervously at that in the midst of a phone interview with USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday afternoon. “Hush, guys,” she admonished them. Then, back to her sisters’ long-ago gibes: “So, that’s a myth.”
Tanya Snyder was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She had surgeries to remove the cancer, recovered fully and has emerged as the voice of the NFL on breast cancer awareness, a grassroots effort she’d begun nearly a decade before her diagnosis.
Wednesday she will receive the American

Top 10 Redskins rookie seasons during Snyder era

Since Dan Snyder bought the Redskins in 1999, there have been many solid draft selections to go along with the questionable ones as well. Since Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen have taken over draft duties, Skins fans have had sort of a relief in trusting the guys in charge as opposed to most of the Vinny Cerrato era. Regardless of who has been making the selections, there has been plenty of rookie success during the Dan Snyder era. These are the my top 10 Redskins rookie campaigns since 2000: 10. Carlos Rogers 46 tackles, 2 interceptions 9. Chris Horton 76 tackles, 1 sack, 3 interceptions 8. Chris Cooley 37 receptions, 314 yards, 6 TDs 7. Lavar Arrington 54 tackles, 4 sacks 6. Laron Landry 95 tackles, 1.5 sacks 5. Alfred Morris 1613 yards, 13 TDs 4. Brian Orakpo 50 tackles, 11 sacks 3. Sean Taylor 76 tackles, 1 sack, 4 interceptions 2.
FedEx Field Playing Surface to Undergo Renovations

After hearing plenty of criticism last year over the playing surface at FedEx Field, the Redskins have decided to re-sod the middle of the field for the first time in the history of using FedEx for home games. Following the Redskins season ending loss in the playoffs last year the hot topic up for discussion was the...
