Chiefs' McCluster tweaks hamstring in workouts

Chiefs wide receiver Dexter McCluster hurt his hamstring early in Thursday's voluntary workout, while defensive back Neiko Thorpe and linebacker Mike Catapano also picked up minor injuries.

Coach Andy Reid said after the week's final organized team activity that McCluster had a ''mild'' hamstring injury. There's a chance he'll be back on the field next week, when the Chiefs wrap up three weeks of voluntary workouts and prepare for their mandatory minicamp.

Catapano also hurt his hamstring, Reid said. Thorpe tweaked a knee.

Reid also revealed the tight end Tony Moeaki, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in the offseason, probably won't be on the field until training camp. The injury-prone Moeaki has been watching from the sidelines during the voluntary workouts.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki likely sidelined until training camp

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The Tony Moeaki Express is back in the repair shop again.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Thursday that he doesn't expect Moeaki, his talented but injury-prone tight end, to take the field again until his squad opens training camp in late July.

"We'll see," Reid said after the team wrapped up another three-day session of Organized Team Activities (OTA). "We'll see.

"But right now, I'm thinking he will be (available). We'll see how it goes. He's working like crazy."

Moeaki has been present at April mini-camps and May OTAs, but has yet to practice at full speed with his teammates. The 6-foot-3 receiver underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in the offseason, and Reid said he doesn't foresee him taking part in spring sessions.

The fourth-year tight end out of Iowa caught 33 balls for 453 yards a year ago, but missed all of the 2011 regular season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Given Moeaki's recent history, it's

Chiefs TE has idea for funny, cruel draft prank

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki is a ruthless guy. In a weekend filled with uncertainty, he suggested to his followers that they call their friends that are entered in the NFL Draft from a blocked or private number. This would undoubtedly get their hopes up it was an NFL team, only to find out it was one of their buddies from back home. This is a hilarious idea, but cruel all the same. Remind me never to mess with Tony Moeaki.

Tony Moeaki encourages friends of potential NFL draftees to screw with them

The NFL Draft is one of the most emotional experiences a college football player will ever have to sit through. For some, it brings overwhelming happiness. For others, it leads to unfathomable disappointment. But most NFL players would agree that draft weekend comes with a great deal of anxiety. Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki wants to make it even more stressful.
With every NFL Draft comes at least one or two clowns who like to play pranks and pray on vulnerability. Most top-tier college players are sitting at home waiting by the phone for the call that will change their life, and Moeaki is encouraging people to punk those players.
Remember if you have any friends eligible for the draft..Be sure to call them all weekend from a blocked or unknown number during the draft

Chiefs 4 Days to #1: Tony Moeaki

With just a few days until the Chiefs are officially on the clock, it’s become clear that, if this offense is going to leap forward, it needs production from the tight end position. But in KC, veteran Tony Moeaki has yet to live up to his lofty draft status. So what gives?

Kansas City Chiefs sign TE Anthony Fasano

The Chiefs needed a #2 tight end with no depth behind Tony Moeaki, who is no sure thing, and Fasano, a solid blocker who can also contribute a little bit as a chain mover in the passing game, can serve in that role well. However, this is way too much money for a backup tight end. Fasano will get 16 million over the next 4 years with 4.5 million guaranteed. This is even worse than the 3 year, 9 million dollar deal the Chiefs gave Kevin Boss last off-season (he was cut one year into it) and almost as bad as the 5 year, 25 million dollar deal the Vikings gave John Carlson last off-season. For comparison, Martellus Bennett, a much better tight end and the new starter in Chicago, got just 20.4 million over 4 years, just 4.4 million more than Fasano.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki Pleased With His Progress From Torn Knee Ligaments

Tight end Tony Moeaki said today that his rehabilitation from torn knee ligaments and the resulting surgery is going well and he expected to be at full strength when the Chiefs begin training camp in July. Moeaki said he has been running and lifting weights in the team’s conditioning program but was unsure how much he would participate when the Chiefs begin off-season practice next month. ''Rehab is good,'' he said. ''As far as team activities, I’m just doing what the trainers and the coaching staff tells me to do. I don’t really know until we get there.'' Moeaki, a third-round pick in 2010, had a strong rookie season for the Chiefs, catching 47 passes and scoring three touchdowns. But he injured his knee during the final preseason game against Green Bay and didn’t play during the regular season.
