Seattle Seahawks Vs. Buffalo Bills Preview and Key Matchups

This Sunday, the Buffalo Bills take on the Seattle Seahawks in their annual Toronto Series, which is held at the Rogers Centre. The Bills (5-8) are coming off of a crushing, last minute loss to the St. Louis Rams, while the Seahawks (8-5) are following a 58-0 beatdown of the Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are pushing for a playoff berth and have been playing very well under rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. The Bills, on the other hand, have squandered many of their opportunities this season, and now the team is decimated with injuries across the roster. The Bills are pretty much eliminated from the playoff hunt, but still would like to win out, especially facing two AFC East foes in the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets to close out the disappointing season.
Bills Pass Offense Vs. Seahawks Pass Defense
The Bills’ spread offense is ranked 25th in the league in passing yards, averaging 200.2 yards per game in the air, despite the pass-heavy scheme that coach Chan Gailey operates...

Buffalo's new-look offensive line braces for Rams

Protecting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick could be an issue on Sunday when the Buffalo Bills (5-7) host St. Louis' strong pass rush.

Buffalo's offensive line is in patchwork mode after injuries to center Eric Wood and tackle Chris Hairston. In fact, two players - Sam Young and David Snow - will make their first NFL career starts vs. the Rams (5-6-1).

''It's insane how many guys we lose every year,'' said Kraig Urbik, who will start at center or right guard. ''It's not like guys are just wearing down. These are actual, physical injuries.''

The Rams have the NFL's fourth-best sack total (34) and those numbers might spike up Sunday. St. Louis is paced by former first-round picks Robert Quinn and Chris Long, who have registered 8 1/2 and seven sacks, respectively.

''They bring a lot of pressure,'' said Snow, a 6-foot-4, 303-pound rookie out of Texas who can play center and guard. ''It's evident that they're a very good defense.

Bills lose another lineman, RT Hairston, to IR

Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Chris Hairston has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season with a bruised right ankle.

Coach Chan Gailey will shuffle his line, and use rookie David Snow and also veteran Sam Young at times to replace Hairston, 23, a 6-foot-6, 330-pound right tackle out of Clemson.

The news made matters difficult for the line. Erik Pears, the team's top right tackle, has been out since Nov. 6, and is also lost for the season with a hip issue.

Buffalo signed Chris Scott off the Tennessee Titans' practice squad to the fill the roster vacancy. The 6-4, 360-pound tackle has also spent time on the practice squads of Green Bay and Tampa Bay after playing two seasons with the Steelers. He was selected by Pittsburgh in the 2010 fifth round.

The Bills (5-7) will take on St. Louis (5-6-1) on Sunday.

Johnson playing for Bills; Keller in for Jets

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson is active for the team's season-opening game against the New York Jets after being questionable because of a groin injury.

Johnson missed practice Thursday and was limited Friday after tweaking his groin Wednesday.

Among the Bills' inactives were: quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, wide receiver T.J. Graham, safety Delano Howell, defensive end Kyle Moore, linebacker Kirk Morrison, offensive tackle Sam Young and center Colin Brown.

Jets defensive tackle Sione Po'uha is out after missing the preseason with a sore back, but tight end Dustin Keller was set to play after missing time with an injured right hamstring.

Also inactive for New York were safety Eric Smith, defensive lineman Damon Harrison, offensive linemen Caleb Schlauderaff and Dennis Landolt, wide receiver Clyde Gates and quarterback Greg McElroy.

TJ Graham Headlines Inactives List

The Bills have released their inactive list, and TJ Graham will not go today. Absent any known injury, the Gailey obviously felt that Graham was not prepared to be effective against the Jets secondary. As mentioned earlier, Donald Jones will likely be the teams primary deep threat.
The remaining inactives are QB Tavares Jackson, OT Sam Young, OG/C Colin Brown, S Delano Howell, DE Kyle Moore, and LB Kirk Morrison. Morrison is slightly interesting, as that puts some added pressure on special teams LBs Chris White and Nigel Bradham should there be any injuries at the position, leaving the Bills with only 5.
The Jets haven’t released their inactives yet, but we’ll update you once they do.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Battles Part One: Offensive Tackle

With the 2012 NFL Draft in the rear view mirror, it’s time to take a look at the training camp positional battles that will ultimately determine the opening day starters.
In my first installment, I’ll take a look at the offensive tackles, a position the Buffalo Bills really addressed in the draft this year.
The Bills currently have five offensive tackles on the roster, with right tackles Erik Pears and Sam Young, along with left tackle Chris Hairston, the only returning players from last season’s squad.
The right tackle position is all but locked up after Buddy Nix inked Erik Pears to a three year, $9.3 million deal, keeping him on the team through the 2014 season. Sam Young saw time across the line, but mainly due to injury.
The left tackle position is where it gets a bit tricky. With Demetress Bell’s departure to the Philadelphia Eagles, second-year man Chris Hairston, a fourth rounder out of Clemson is the incumbent starter. Hairston performed relatively well in his seven starts ...

Choice sees familiar faces

Newly signed RB Tashard Choice practiced Thursday and was glad to see some familiar faces.
“It’s good to be here,” he said. “There are a lot of good coaches here…the ones I knew from Georgia Tech and also players that I know on this team. I know Sam Young, Scott Chandler, CJ (Spiller) and a couple of other guys because I played against them in college.”
Choice also is familiar with some of the offensive scheme.
“Oh, yeah, it does make it easier. You pick up things quickly…you remember everything you did before. So it’s not that difficult to know the plays and know what’s going on. So it was actually a really smooth day…really smooth.”
Knowing there’s a chance he could be in the Bills game day lineup soon Choice is anxious to get up to speed completely.
“My thoughts are just to get rolling. It’s been more difficult this season than I thought so I’m just really ready to get the opportunity and to get my chance and do the best I can.”
