Battery charge dropped against Dolphins Amaya

Prosecutors have dropped a battery charge against Dolphins safety Jonathan Amaya, clearing the third-year player of allegations that he choked a cabdriver in November. According to public record, Miami-Dade prosecutors notified the court on Jan. 11 that their office would not proceed with the case, the Miami Herald reported. Amaya was arrested on Nov. 26 and charged with choking Jonathan Vunge in his cab after leaving a Miami Beach nightclub. But Amaya's attorney, Edward O'Donnell, disputed the accusation to Miami Herald in December, saying "Jonathon Amaya never laid a hand on this man, never touched him, never threatened him. When a full investigation is made, we believe charges will be dropped." Amaya, 24, has played mainly on special teams and has 37 career tackles with the Dolphins and the Saints. He is not under contract for 2013.

Miami Dolphins defensive back Jonathan Amaya is paid to lock down receivers. However, the 24-year old opted to lock down a taxi driver over the weekend instead. From USA Today:A Miami Beach Police report shows Amaya was arrested early Monday morning. It was not immediately known if he has an attorney. The report says Amaya offered the taxi driver $100 to take him from Miami Beach to Weston. The driver told police Amaya became aggressive, so he turned around the car and asked him to get out. The driver said Amaya then leaned forward, wrapped his hands around the driver's neck and starting choking him. Officers saw the taxi driving erratically and heard the driver scream "this man is trying to kill me."Police escorted Amaya out of the car and he was later arrested. The driver wasn't injured.Amaya has since been charged with battery over the incident.
Lions and Saints Injury Report for NFC Wildcard Playoff Game

Here is the official injury report for the Detroit Lions according to DetroitLions.com and it looks like we are going to have a fully healthy team tonight vs the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have only 3 people out for the game WR Lance Moore, LB Jonathan Casillas, and backup TE John Gilmore. The Saints will notice Moore and Casillas being out and hopefully this will give the Lions another advantage… We will need all the advantages we can get, but I am still sticking to my 38-28 pre game prediction! Go Lions!

Wild Card Weekend Game Preview: Lions at New Orleans Saints

As hard as it might be to believe for the die hard Saints fan from way back when, many current fans of this team probably may not even remember more than a single losing season. Someone who started following the team 6 years ago in 2006, for instance, when Sean Payton first became Head Coach and Drew Brees became the starting quarterback, would be in that very category of such people. The Saints have gone 62-34 since Payton and Brees arrived in New Orleans, and that 64.6 winning percentage is tied for the 6th-best over that span. Even if a recently converted Saints fan goes back twice as long as that, to the start of the 2000 season, they would still only remember 3 out of 12 losing seasons for their favorite NFL team.
But, truth be known, from the Saints‘ inaugural season in 1967 to as recently as the end of the 2005 campaign, New Orleans actually owned the third-lowest winning percentage in the NFL. At .403, they trailed only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at .392 (established in 1976, ...
