Zucker trailed the puck, which was being moved behind the net, and crept to the front of the net virtually unseen. He knew that he’d have only a split second to find his shot and that the angle would be nearly impossible; that didn’t stop this unflappable rookie though. Here is what Zucker had to say about his game winning goal: “I don’t know if I even saw the net. I probably didn’t even look at the net.” He went on to say, “I just tried shooting it, and it happened to go in for me.” Some may call that luck but if they’ve seen Zucker play they’d know that his work effort and toughness creates his good fortune. Zucker, 21, and Veilleux, 31, will join the team for its final game in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche, where Minnesota faces a scenario in which a win would clinch a playoff berth for the first time in five seasons. The Wild reassigned forwards Jake Dowell and Carson McMillian to Houston in corresponding moves. Veilleux was called up earlier this week for Minnesota but was a healthy scratch in one game before being sent back to the Aeros. He had three goals and five assists for Houston this season. Zucker is back with the Wild for the third time this season. He has four goals and one assist in 19 games with Minnesota after a season at Houston in which he had 24 goals and 26 assists in 55 games. Anaheim's Corey Perry nailed with a late hit that included a hard shoulder to the head. The poor kid was down for several minutes before he was finally helped up and off the ice. Football players get a lot of attention for the hits they take, but these guys really get hit hard.
