According to Rotoworld the Mets have declined to offer salary arbitration to C Paul Lo Duca, C Sandy Alomar Jr., 1B Jeff Conine, C Mike DiFelice, INF Damion Easley, OF Shawn Green, RHP Aaron Sele and 2B Jose Valentin.

Scott Hatteberg: From Goat to Hero in Space of 2 Innings

Cincinnati Reds' first baseman Scott Hatteberg started his career with the Boston Red Sox as a catcher, a position he played through his seven seasons with the BoSox, from 1995 through 2001. In 2001, Hatteberg's final season with the Red Sox, during a game with the Texas Rangers on August 6, he earned a unique distinction in all of MLB history.

Yanks & Mets Interested in Conine

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting the Mets and Yankees both have interest in Reds outfielder/first baseman Jeff Conine. Conine is currently batting .276 with six home runs and twenty-four RBIs in a limited role with the Reds. Rumors are circulating that he will be one of the many players dealt this summer in what most expect to be a fire sale in Cincinnati. Conine is a career .286 hitter, and while he really has no power, Conine could find a role on the Mets. As far as the Yankees go, I'm not so sure.
