Shining Prospects: November 12th-18th

The lockout has grown dull... actually, it has been dull for many weeks, if not months now. I have little interest in covering the drama anymore as you can see in my lack of articles lately... so instead every Monday (completely exclusive to IHN) I will release an update of Blackhawks prospects across the world.

THE SKINNY

MINOR PRO

-Ben Smith had a fantastic week for Rockford. He recorded 12 shots on goal, scored 2 goals, and added 2 assists despite the IceHogs posting a 1-2 record last week.

-David Gilbert ended his 8-game point streak (14 pts) last week as his team recorded a 3-2 win over Quad City. Gilbert has put together a solid season so far with the Bloomington Blaze, tied for 3rd on the team in points.

COLLEGE

-Sam Jardine suffered a serious laceration on November 10th, he will miss 6-10 weeks of action. He met with the media on Wednesday to talk about what happened and how he is moving forward. Thankfully, no tendons or arteries were cut, and it is not expected that ...

Blackhawks assign all eligible players to Rockford

As the NHL draws closer to a lockout, the Blackhawks made several roster changes on Saturday.

According to Tracey Myers, the Blackhawks assigned forwards Brandon Bollig, Marcus Kruger, Andrew Shaw, Ben Smith, Jimmy Hayes, Brandon Saad, and Brandon Pirri, defensemen Nick Leddy, and Dylan Olsen, and goaltenders Carter Hutton to the Blackhawks affiliate team in the AHL, the Rockford Icehogs.

The Bowman Effect - Trade Tactics

With the deadline looming, Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman has the equivalent of nearly $15 million in cap space that is growing in size every single day. Two and a half years after being hired in place of Dale Tallon, perhaps we can go back and piece together the puzzle that Bowman is attempting to put together. Adding Brendan Morrison last week only built Bowmans trade résumé, adding another clue to the search, but once you put all of it together the picture starts to become a little more clear that the direction Bowman may be taking could have provided enough smoke and mirrors to get away with a state of rebuilding.
Breakdown: Leading Up To The 2012 Trade Deadline

The rumor wheels are spinning something fierce and Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman certainly will have his hands full in the 2012 edition of the trade deadline. Unfortunately for Bowman, this deadline may prove to be one of the most expensive markets due to the limited amount of options on the table. Very few teams are willing to sell and there are an incredible amount of teams willing to buy. Most teams are interested in acquiring a top-six forward along with a top-four defenseman. To be more specific, "most teams" means "more than half the NHL"... which could mean many organizations along with their fans could be left disappointed and empty-handed following the deadline. Of course, Bowman is in the market for both of them so if he's going to swing any deals he'll have to pay up to beat his competitors.FORWARD CANDIDATESDERICK BRASSARDCENTER | COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETSDespite the GM Scott Howson denying rumors of trading his young center after his recent resurgen...
