According to Tracey Myers, the Blackhawks assigned forwards Brandon Bollig, Marcus Kruger, Andrew Shaw, Ben Smith, Jimmy Hayes, Brandon Saad, and Brandon Pirri, defensemen Nick Leddy, and Dylan Olsen, and goaltenders Carter Hutton to the Blackhawks affiliate team in the AHL, the Rockford Icehogs. Two and a half years after being hired in place of Dale Tallon, perhaps we can go back and piece together the puzzle that Bowman is attempting to put together. Adding Brendan Morrison last week only built Bowmans trade résumé, adding another clue to the search, but once you put all of it together the picture starts to become a little more clear that the direction Bowman may be taking could have provided enough smoke and mirrors to get away with a state of rebuilding. Unfortunately for Bowman, this deadline may prove to be one of the most expensive markets due to the limited amount of options on the table. Very few teams are willing to sell and there are an incredible amount of teams willing to buy. Most teams are interested in acquiring a top-six forward along with a top-four defenseman. To be more specific, "most teams" means "more than half the NHL"... which could mean many organizations along with their fans could be left disappointed and empty-handed following the deadline.
