Celebrities Participate in the Michael Jordan Invitational

Former St. Louis Cardinals baseball superstars and World Series champion teammates, Ozzie Smith and Vince Coleman joined forces to once again win a title, but this time on a golf course as they won the 12th annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI).
The tournament was hosted by ARIA Resort & Casino and was held at Shadow Creek for the third consecutive year. The event raised more than $500,000 for charity.
MJCI celebrities in attendance included Flex Alexander, Marcus Allen, Miles Austin, Jerome Bettis, Wayne Brady, Dez Bryant, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Bruce Jenner, Hakeem Nicks, Michael Phelps, Adrian Young, and many, many others.
Smith and Coleman, who each took home $20,000 for their designated charities, were able to overcome a late surge by the second-place team of Ahmad Rashad and the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky to win by four strokes. The two teams were tied heading into the 17th hole, but Smith/Coleman birdied the final two holes while Rashad/Gretzky bogeyed thei...

Mike Gundy, man of indecision

Did you ever have to make up your mind? Pick up on one and leave the other behind.

Those are the lyrics to a Lovin’ Spoonful classic song released in 1966. It reminds me of Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy.

A couple of weeks ago, Gundy declared that Clint Chelf would be his starting quarterback this season.

“Chelf is our starter,” he proclaimed. “He takes all the reps with the (first team) right now. Those guys (J.W. Walsh and Wes Lunt) compete out there, but I don’t necessarily feel like there’s a battle out there to start the game.”

Then, last week Gundy said that “we haven’t necessarily said anything about the first game of the season.

Did you ever have to finally decide? Say yes to one and let the other one ride.

Gundy mentioned that Chelf is the front-runner for now “I don’t see any reason to not mention that. But we haven’t established who would be the starter for any particular reason.”

Keep Gundy away from “Let’s Make A Deal."

Derp: Ernie Johnson, Greg Gumbel team up for epic fist bump fail (GIF)

Although they deserve a free pass with coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament just getting underway on Thursday, the awkward exchange that occurred between studio hosts Greg Gumbel and Ernie Johnson when they attempted to engage in some kind of hand-to-hand greeting. Yeah, it did not go well.
Granted, the fist bump is not the high-five, or as Jerry Seinfeld once referred to it, the lowest form of male primate ritual. Still, there is no reason why two men should not be able to execute the same hand-based greeting simultaneously. That is, if one guy sees the fist bump coming, the other should be able to adapt, even if he was going with the handshake move, on the fly.
Watch the epic disaster unfold in beautiful animated GIF form below.

Hoo boy, that’s awkward. Poor, poor Ernie Johnson. Maybe Paul Mooney should have inserted Bryant Gumbel’s older brother Greg’s name for Wayne Brady’s regarding the comic’s popularity in the classic “Chappelle’s Show” skit. Just saying.

“Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Returning To TV

The CW will be rebooting the improv comedy show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, the network announced on Friday. With former host Drew Carey currently as host of “The Price is Right”, comedian and “The Talk” co-host Aisha Tyler will replace Carey. Former stars Wayne Brady, Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie will return alongside one guest per week.
The show ended it’s original run back in 2004 after eight season on ABC. The CW didn’t say when Whose Line 2.0 would make it’s triumphant return but, as big fans of the show, we’re very excited and you should be too.

Dom Brown’s Monte Hall Paradox

As regular readers of Phillies Nation may have deduced, I am an avid fan of professional wrestling. While I attempt to limit my references to hide my fandom, every once-in-a-while, it rears its ugly head. In addition to baseball, and pro wrestling, I am also an avid game show enthusiast. I have spent more hours than I care to admit watching Richard Dawson’s Family Feud and analyzing Michael Larson‘s record breaking 1984 Press Your Luck win. One of my favorite game shows of all time, however, is Let’s Make a Deal.
Baseball is viewed in a lot of ways; one of the ways the game is interpreted is as a game of chance and probability positively or negatively impacted by the skill of those who are playing it. In this regard, Let’s Make a Deal does not appear to be very close to baseball; it appears to be solely a game of chance. Contestant is selected, is given a few choices, and either wins big or gets zonked. But in my opinion, Let’s Make a Deal and baseball can be summed up in the same w...

'UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II' Final Thoughts

 • While many will argue that Anderson Silva was not himself due to a rib injury the first time these two fought I believe that the true reason Sonnen dominated the fight should be disclosed. Put facial hair on Anderson Silva and he vaguely resembles Wayne Brady. Who wouldn't want to beat him up for 23 straight minutes? • All (awful) jokes aside, everyone has it wrong, Anderson Silva is inside Chael Sonnen's head. In a big, big way. • Tito Ortiz will retire tonight after his 27th fight in the UFC. Not that many people will ever say they got to fight that long against the best of the best. 12 of those fights came against five opponents (Shamrock, Griffin, Mezger, Evans, Liddell). • Griffin should have no problem finishing Ortiz tonight if he uses his kicks early and often. The body of Ortiz has just taken too much "Punishment" over the years. Hit him in that big noggin all you want. A couple of those deadly Griffin kicks to the body and its curtains for Tito. ...

Glenn Beck Backs Up Max Bretos For Using “Chink In The Armor” SHOCKER!

Gotta love Glenn Beck. I mean this dude speaks with a more convincing tone than Bernie Madoff at your grandmother’s house. So yesterday Glenn Beck was addressing how the “media has altered the way companies run” (which is definitely true), cutting taxes (SHOCKER) and then gets into ESPN’s Max Bretos getting unjustly fired for using the phrase “***** in the armor.”
Glenn Beck:”It’s incredible, this is ESPN, suspending a guy who is married to an Asian for using, in proper context ‘***** in the armor.’
Plays the drop of Max saying it…
Glenn Beck: “He is suspended for 30 days. Remember this is the same network that just got rid of Hank Williams. This is your man network. I mean you want to talk about a network that wears panties….IT’S ESPN. This is your sports network….MAN UP.” HAHAH gotta agree with Glenn on that one.

ESPN’s Robert Flores Nails “Is Wayne Brady Gonna Have To Joke-A-Vich?”

Say “Joke-A-Vich” about five times in a row. What phrase does it sound like you’re uttering? “Choke a *****,” right? Exactly. Over the weeekend, our hero at SportsCenter (besides Steve Levy, of course), Robert Flores, came up with the tennis call of 2012. Balls to the walls from this Flores guy. What the hell are we talking about? And why is Flores on your screen next to Chappelle?
Here is the highlight in question. Prepare to lose your sh*t.

Posted: Jan. 27, 2012
Premise of Video: This highlight from Friday has slipped through most of the blogosphere because we tend to ignore Aussie Open highlights from the men’s draw. But Robert Flores put us all on notice that he could possibly drop a Djokovic one-liner at any moment, like after this rally.
Climax of Video: “Is Wayne Brady gonna have to Djokovic.”
Conclusion: Still don’t get it? You either didn’t watch much Chappelle or need to catch up on the greatest, under appreciated sketch comedy show of our generation. Get the f$%k out of...

This Is Why We Need More Mike Tyson

If you’re trying to pinpoint the exact moment that Mike Tyson went from raging psychopath meltdown monster to the current hilarious and generally affable guy that we all love, most people would probably say it was his cameo in The Hangover. But I think it goes back a little further to one of his first appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, when he sang “Monster Mash” with Bobby Brown. The Hangover probably made us all realize that he was finally laughing with us, but if it didn’t, then his 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey at least made him a human to us again.
And that’s why his latest antics have been so fantastic and hilarious, even though we know he’s still batsh*t insane. Whether dancing with Wayne Brady to “Every Little Step I Take” or delivering the worst-yet-funniest Herman Cain impression or simply telling us how hard Sarah Palin should be, um, romanced, Mike Tyson should be more involved in every aspect of our lives. Thank God he’s back with an appearance on the Brazilian TV s...
