Kendall Hunter ahead of schedule with his rehab

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, 49ers’ running back Kendall Hunter is ahead of schedule with his rehab after tearing his Achilles last season. The good news is he’s expected to be ready for training camp.
Hunter was having a pretty strong season in an more expanded role during the 2012 season. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back in 2013.

49ers Injury Report: Kendall Hunter Out for Season

It was reported Monday that San Francisco 49ers wide
receiver Kyle Williams would miss the remainder of the season due to injury,
and yesterday it came out that the team will also be without running back
Kendall Hunter for the rest of the year due to a torn Achilles, reports Matt
Barrows of The Sacramento Bee.

Hunter and Williams were injured on the same play Sunday
during the 49ers contest against the New Orleans Saints. Following the contest
San Francisco diagnosed Hunter as having an ankle injury. However, Barrows
reported yesterday that Hunter had actually sustained a torn Achilles and will
likely be placed on injured reserve. The 49ers later confirmed the report and
placed both Williams and Hunter on IR.

Hunter was starting running back Frank Gore’s primary backup
this season. Prior to his injury he had rushed for 37

49ers RB Hunter, WR Williams on injured reserve

San Francisco 49ers running back Kendall Hunter is the second player in two days to be lost for the year after he and wide receiver Kyle Williams were hurt on the same play in Sunday's win at New Orleans.

The 49ers said Tuesday both players had been placed on season-ending injured reserve. Williams announced Monday on Twitter that he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, while Hunter is listed out with an ankle injury - though some of his teammates said he was undergoing treatment on his left Achilles tendon.

NFC West-leading San Francisco (8-2-1) activated running back Jewel Hampton from the non-football injury list and added him to the 53-man roster.

The 49ers released safety Eddie Whitley from the practice squad and signed wideout and returner Chad Hall to the practice squad.

Report: 49ers Lose RB Kendall Hunter For The Season

Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that a source has informed him that 49ers RB Kendall Hunter will miss the rest of the 2012 season after he suffered a left ankle injury during Sunday’s win over the Saints.
San Francisco also lost WR Kyle Williams for the season after he torn his ACL during the game.
Frank Gore figures to see an increased workload in the coming weeks, but Brandon Jacobs, who has been inactive for nearly the entire season, should also see more carries. It will be interesting to see if the 49ers work rookie LaMichael James into the mix, considering that he resembles Hunter’s skill set better than the other two backs.

Mike Garafolo of the USA Today is reporting that 49ers running back Kendall Hunter is done for the season after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday. (Thanks Goodell for re-instating Vilma)
Garafolo is reporting it from a source of anonymity because the 49ers haven’t yet announced how long Hunter will be sidelined.
With Hunter done for the season, look for LaMichael James to be activated on gameday and also expect more carries for Brandon Jacobs.

49ers Injury Report: Kyle Williams, Kendall Hunter, Ted Ginn Jr.

While the San Francisco 49ers were able to defeat the New
Orleans Saints yesterday, the victory came with a cost as wide receiver Kyle
Williams and running back Kendall Hunter sustained injuries that could sideline
them for an extended period, reports Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

The 49ers' victory may have come at a cost, as receiver Kyle
Williams and running back Kendall Hunter sustained injuries that could keep
both players sidelined for an extended period.

Williams suffered a significant left knee injury and the
team immediately ruled him out for the remainder of the contest. A source told
CSNBayArea.com that the injury is “not good.”

Hunter exited due to a left ankle sprain and was later seen
on crutches and wearing a boot on his foot. Both Williams and Hunter are set to
undergo MRIs today to determine the extent of their injuries.

Hunter’s injury could move Brandon Jacobs, who saw his first
action of the season yesterday, into a role as Frank Gore’s primary backup.

Kendall Hunter Having a Strong Camp

The San Francisco 49ers have the luxury of being well-stocked with a diverse group of running backs this year. Recently ESPN’s Mike Sando confirmed Kendall Hunter has enjoyed a “tremendous camp and will play a significant role this season”. The same could be said about second-round pick Oregon Duck LaMichael James although trying to get him the ball may be a problem. It’s hard to complain when one the teams biggest questions entering 2012, is how to divide a workload between four talented runners. Although, by being too diverse, could cause problems with rhythm in the running game.Fantasy owners are already overlooking Frank Gore as the feature back for the team. Gore’s ADP has dropped quite a bit over the last month, as players like Kendell Hunter and LaMichael James are all of a sudden get the “sleeper”grade from FF owners. Frank Gore actually played all 16 games last season, but has had a history of missing time. Gore is a bruiser and still has gas left in the tank, yet after seven seasons, six as

According to ESPN's NFC West reporter Mike Sando, 49ers running back Kendall Hunter "has enjoyed a tremendous camp."Fantasy Spin:The 49ers' backfield is crowded, with incumbent starter Frank Gore, free agent signee Brandon Jacobs and rookie LaMichael James on board along with Hunter. Gore may not be on the field enough to even justify his current price tag as an early-round selection, as Hunter will be the third-down back and Jacobs will handle goal-line duties.

Brandon Jacobs blames Giants line

San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs made an appearance on KNBR in San Francisco (via SportsRadioInterviews.com) to discuss why he chose to sign with the 49ers and also discussed role in their offense.
Jacobs said that he signed with the 49ers because they made him the best offer.
“Well, ya know, they had the best offer for me as well. … At the end of the day we go out and play this game for it being football, what we all love playing. But after you’ve been in the business a certain amount of time, and know that they’ve turned it into nothing but a business, that what-have-you-done-for-me-lately type attitude comes. And that’s what we turn it into as players, and that’s when things happen. Anyway, it’s a great opportunity for me to join the 49ers. Not only did they have the best offer for me — I think that’s a special group of guys in that locker room, and coaches and the whole organization. And I grew up a 49er fan and I’ve loved the 49ers always. So it’s a good opport...
