Bubba and Rickie Fowler do some videobombing

Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler appear to be very loose early on at the U.S. Open, and they used the early weather delay to fine-tune their videobombing skills. Check out the duo pulling off two fairly epic videobombs during TV interviews given by Jason Day and Matteo Manassero. You have to love the fact that the two golfers are able to have some fun during a high pressure event. [Eye On Golf] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Matteo Manassero bids for 2nd straight win

Matteo Manassero remains on track for a second consecutive European Tour victory after taking a two-shot lead at the Nordea Masters on Friday.

The 20-year old Italian, who won last week's BMW PGA Championship, added a 7-under 65 to his opening 66 for a 13-under total for two rounds on the Bro Hof Slott course in Stockholm.

Manassero capped his round with four birdies in succession from the 11th hole.

He says ''it was nice after my good start to come back today and shoot another great score.''

Finland's Mikko Ilonen is second at 11 under after birdying his last three holes for a 9-under 63. He matched a new course record, set just hours earlier by Scotland's Peter Whiteford, who is third on 10 under.

Manassero birdies first 6 holes

Matteo Manassero birdied his first six holes en route to a 6-under-par 66 and a share of the clubhouse lead on the first day of the Nordea Masters on Thursday.

Four days after winning the BMW PGA Championship, Manassero's equal lowest score of the year tied with Pablo Larrazabal of Spain, who was 6 under after 14 holes then went par-bogey-par-birdie in ideal conditions on the Bro Hof Slott course.

''I've never started that well in my career, that just seemed a little strange,'' Manassero said.

''It was a guess how I would wake up this morning as I had been pretty tired up until last night but I felt good and I could see that from the first tee when I hit good shots.''

One shot behind them were Sweden's Fredrik Andersson Hed, Welshman Jamie Donaldson and England duo Chris Lloyd and Simon Wakefield.

Sweden's Peter Hanson, the highest ranked player in the field at No. 23, signed for a 3-under 69.

Manassero survives four-hole playoff

Matteo Manassero left the $6.1 million BMW PGA Championship looking forward to the future. Lee Westwood departed wondering if he can find a long game to contend in next month's US Open.

It took four playoff holes, but Manassero finally prevailed over England's Simon Khan and Marc Warren of Scotland in the European Tour event. The trio stepped back to the 18th tee after tying for the regulation lead at 10 under after 72 holes, one shot worse than the 11 under Westwood reached by the fourth hole of the final round before he went into reverse.

Warren departed on the first extra hole when his tee shot found a bush and his fourth ended in the water hazard. Manassero and Khan played the 18th three further times before Khan's second to the par-5 ended in the water hazard fronting the green. Manassero found the green and two-putted for his fourth European Tour win.

"I'm feeling unbelievable, really emotional. I've always felt something really special about this place and this week," M

Manassero captures four-hole playoff

Matteo Manassero became the youngest champion in the 58-year history of the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday, beating Simon Khan of England on the fourth playoff hole for his fourth European Tour title.

Manassero, 20 years and 37 days, made amends for letting victory slip away at the event two years ago. The previous youngest winner was Bernhard Gallacher of Scotland at 20 years, 97 days in 1969.

With the win, the Italian qualified for next month's U.S. Open and avoided a 36-hole qualifier Monday at the Walton Heath course.

Marc Warren of Scotland, Manassero and Khan were tied at 10-under 278 after regulation play. Warren was eliminated after the first playoff hole.

Ben Crenshaw feels badly for penalized Tianlang Guan

Ben Crenshaw expressed empathy for 14-year-old golfer Tianlang Guan, who was penalized a stroke for slow play during the second round of the Masters on Friday.
Guan’s threesome that included Crenshaw and Matteo Manassero began being watched for slow play midway through their round. Guan, who set a record for being the youngest player ever at the Masters, was timed on the 12th hole and was warned on the 13th hole for slow play. He was penalized a stroke on the par-4 17th hole for exceeding the 40-second limit “by a considerable margin” on his second shot, according to Augusta National.
Despite shooting par on the hole, Guan was forced to sign for a bogey 5.
Crenshaw felt badly for the teenager.
“This is not going to end pretty. I’m sick for him. I feel terrible. He is 14 years old. I’m so sorry this has happened,” said Crenshaw, via Sky Sports.

Manassero wins in playoff

After already playing 33 holes at the Singapore Open on Sunday, the last thing Matteo Manassero probably wanted was to go back on the course for a playoff hole.

Or two playoff holes. Or three.

The 19-year-old Manassero persevered and holed a 12-foot eagle putt to beat Louis Oosthuizen on the third playoff hole to capture his third European Tour title and by far his biggest paycheck: $1 million.

It was a very long day on the course for both Manassero and Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion. Tropical downpours on the first two days of the event had created a backlog in the schedule, forcing all the golfers to finish their second rounds Saturday afternoon and then rush back out to start the third as the sun was going down.

Manassero only finished three holes in his third round Saturday, meaning he had to return early Sunday morning to play 15 holes, then after a brief 27-minute rest, start his final round. Oosthuizen played 13 holes to finish his third round in the morning.

Manassero takes lead in Singapore

Matteo Manassero shot a 7-under 64 on Sunday to take a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the rain-condensed Singapore Open.

The 19-year-old Italian had four birdies in a row when third-round play resumed Sunday morning and two more on the back nine to reach 11-under 202 overall.

South African Louis Oosthuizen shot a 65 to move into second place at 9 under, one stroke ahead of England's Chris Wood (70) in third. Three-time champion Adam Scott (69) was alone in fourth at 7 under.

Organizers of the $6 million event were forced to complete most of the second round on Saturday due to heavy rains the first two days of the tournament, pushing the start of the third round back to the late afternoon.

Golfers were back on the course to start the final round Sunday immediately after finishing the third.

Overnight leader Thomas Bjorn of Denmark slumped back to a share of fifth place at 6 under after hitting five bogeys to card a 74 in the third round

Manassero motivated by home fans at Sicilian Open

Winning in front of a home crowd is motivating Matteo Manassero at this week's Sicilian Open after missing out on a place in the Masters.

The 18-year-old Manassero was runner-up in Spain and sixth last week in Morocco, where he needed to win to enter the top 50 in the world rankings and secure an 11th-hour place in the field at Augusta National. Instead, his ranking only rose as high as 61st.

''I have extra motivation in front of my own people and I have extra motivation to win, as the last two weeks I got myself in position on the Sunday to win and didn't close it,'' he said on Wednesday.

Manassero will play the first two rounds from Thursday with Raphael Jacquelin, the winner of the inaugural Sicilian Open last year in a Monday finish, and Branden Grace, a two-time winner already this year on the European Tour.

Major winners John Daly and Rich Beem were also in the field at Verdura Golf and Spa Resort.

Beem, who won the 2002 U.S. PGA Championship, has yet to make a cut in three

Manassero shares Hassan II Trophy lead

Matteo Manassero shot a 7-under 65 to share the lead of the Hassan II Trophy after the third round was completed Sunday, keeping alive his hopes of making his professional debut at the Masters next month.

The 18-year old Italian joined 74 other players in resuming their rounds at the Golf du Palais Royal course after strong winds on Friday and poor light on Saturday pushed back play.

He joined Damien McGrane of Ireland (71) at 12 under, one stroke ahead of Jose Manuel Lara of Spain (70).

If the 61st-ranked Manassero is to qualify for the Masters, which starts April 5, he must win the tournament to enter the top 50 in the world rankings. The Italian competed in the 2009 Masters as the British amateur champion.

McGrane is seeking to end a four-year winless run and capture his second European Tour event.

Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey (65), England's Matthew Baldwin (68), Phillip Price of Wales (72) and Joel Sjoholm (70) of Sweden are at 10 under.

Manassero equals course record in Andalucia Open

Italian teenager Matteo Manassero made a brilliant start at the Andalucia Open to his tall task of qualifying for the Masters by tying the course record for a three-shot lead on Thursday.

Manassero carded an 8-under 64 on the Aloha course in Marbella, matching Lee Westwood's second-round score en route to victory in 2007.

Three strokes behind were five players; Niclas Fasth of Sweden, Eduardo de la Riva of Spain, Henni Otto of South Africa and the England pair of Anthony Wall and European Tour newcomer Lloyd Kennedy.

The 18-year-old Manassero was 63rd in the world rankings and needing to be inside the top 50 by the end of the month to ensure a return to next month's Masters, where he made his debut in 2010 as the British Amateur champion.

In order to close the gap, he needs to win this week and finish no worse than runner-up in next week's Hassan II Trophy in Morocco.

''Of course, Augusta is on my mind as I would love to be going back to compete in the Masters,'' he said. &#39

Italian teenager Matteo Manassero boosted his hopes of qualifying for next month's Masters with a 64 that equaled the course record on Thursday's opening day of the Andalucian Open.

Manassero birdied his closing two holes for a total of nine birdies and just one bogey in fine scoring conditions on the undulating Aloha course near Marbella.

It is the 18-year-old golfer's second lowest round after recording an 8 under 62 during the 2010 Hong Kong Open.

The Italian said ''It was a very good round and I played very solid.'' He added that he ''made about 90 percent of my birdie chances I had and that was the key.''
