Game Day Preview

I have probably went thru dozens of bottles of Listerine since last season. Trying to get that bad taste that last season left out of my mouth.. After the Chiefs play the Bears a new season will have begun and last year becomes history. The Chiefs have a lot to accomplish in preseason action but right now the Chiefs are undefeated and hope springs eternal. Who would have thought the Giants with all their in fighting and bickering would win the Super Bowl………last August. This team has more questions than answers. It needs to walk away from the preseason with more answers than questions.
Who's out ? These players will not be making the trip to Chicago. LB Donnie Edwards, DT Glenn Dorsey, LT Branden Albert, RB Kolby Smith, DE Trevor Johnson and WR Kevin Robinson are all going to be out with injuries. This is not good for Johnson and Robinson who are both fighting for a job and disappointing for Chiefs fan's who have bought into the rebuilding plan and won't get a chance to see the most expensive 650 pounds of that plan.
Who's the bubble players to watch? These players are in a battling to win a spot on the roster and will probably be running around the field like a chicken with their head cut off to try and make a play or catch a coaches eye. Just to survive to the next cut. Fourth and fifth cornerback this will be decided between Tyron Brackenridge, Dimittri Patterson and Will Poole. Fifth receiver this will come down to Bobby Sippio, Maurice Price or Jabari Aurthur. None of these pass catchers will have any problem going across middle and getting smacked down they are trying to avoid a pink slip.
What the starters must do. The Chiefs from a confidence level need to go out and outscore the Bear's starters. They need to walk away knowing that if they were in for the whole game they would have won. Defensively the Chiefs cannot let the Bears move the ball on them. The Bears have no receivers a rookie RB and Kyle Orton as the QB. The starters must dominate this unit.
Game Conditions: At kickoff it will be perfect football weather 75, sunny with a north, north easterly breeze at 10 mph.

Chiefs News And Notes

Injuries and Larry Johnson's work load during the preseason headline Chiefs News And Notes, courtesy of Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star. Let's begin with…

It is common knowledge among Kansas City Chiefs fans and NFL fans in the know that Larry Johnson did not participate in training camp last year as a holdout. Well Johnson will be in camp this year, with the biggest issue being how much work will Johnson get in during the preseason; according to team head coach Herm Edwards, "He'll have to play in the preseason, get his carries and his runs and his timing with the offensive line. We'll sit down and talk about how many carries he needs to get ready. There's a number in his mind where he probably feels comfortable."
It is for certain that the Chiefs miss the presence of defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey and offensive tackle Branden Albert at training camp; however, there is some good and bad news as far as their return. The good news is that Dorsey could return as soon as next week while the bad news is that Albert could miss the remainder of the preseason.
The following players did not participate in any practices: Running back Kolby Smith (groin), wide receiver Kevin Robinson (knee), offensive lineman Branden Albert (foot), defensive linemen Glenn Dorsey (knee), Trevor Johnson (concussion) and linebacker Donnie Edwards (hamstring). Offensive tackle Damion McIntosh did not work in the morning session.
