Comment on The SPREADing regression of the Quarterback by Charlie

"White impressed at the Combine when he worked out as a quarterback, but at just 6 feet tall, he’s a little undersized to see over the heads of NFL offensive linemen."

The same could have been said for Pat White this year. The point still rings true. Quarterbacks that seem to play in this system exclusively is just underdeveloped to play the position in the pros. Michael Robinson, like Troy and Pat was a difference maker with his feet at Penn State, but when you're in the pro...

Tim Tebow Calls Out Mel Kiper Jr. About His Pro Future

One of the best questions of the college football season is how Tim Tebow will fit in the pro game. Lots of successful, running quarterbacks in college often have to switch positions in the NFL to find a job. Take a look at Matt Jones, Michael Robinson, and Brad Smith to name a [...]

It's time for 49ers to get rid of "interim" from Singletary's coaching title

Well, I've seen enough evidence to make a call.

It's time for the 49ers to strip the interim tag from Mike Singletary's title, give him a long-term contract and make him their official coach.

Am I right or am I right? Surely John, Jed and Denise-DeBartolo York, the 49ers' deciders, are having similar thoughts after watching the 49ers beat the Jets 24-14 on Sunday at Candlestick Park.

Under Singletary, the 49ers are 3-3 after back-to-back wins over the Bills and Jets. ...

Rams Get Blown Out Again 35-16

A
I don't know what to say.
The Rams do not seem to care. They do not execute on offense. They do not tackle or cover on defense. So, I'm not sure where to begin with this recap.
But, there is always somewhere to start with the Rams: the run defense. The Rams were run over again by the opposing offense, this time in the form of Frank Gore, Deshaun Foster and Michael Robinson. Next, the pass defense. The Rams made Shaun Hill look like he should be enshrined to Canton and even had the announcers singing Hill's praises. The pass rush generated some pressure, but Hill was always able to slide away from the pressure and find the open man. Will Witherspoon, one of the Rams best players on defense had his worst game as a Ram.
The game was never in doubt as the 49ers scored 28 points in the second quarter and scored touchdowns on five straight drives over the first and second quarter. This was the return of the same old Rams as the game went towards the Niners, the Rams were unable to get the momentum back and collapsed on themselves as they have been doing for the past two years. Sadly, this is the same team under Jim Haslett as it was under Scott Linehan. The 49ers are not a good team, so the Rams do not even have that excuse for rolling over. There can be no excuses for this type of performance, only players/coaches and executives held accountable.
To add injury to insult (literally), the Rams lost Orlando Pace and Ron Bartell to injury during the game. Orlando's injury looks fairly serious as his knee bent a way that is never should bend and was seen at the end of the game on the sidelines in street clothes.
The Rams don't care, so I'm not sure why we as fans should care.

Arizona Cardinals’ mascot Big Red just . . .

Watched San Francisco 49ers' Allen Rossum, left, celebrate with Michael Robinson after Rossum scored on the game-opening kickoff against the Arizona Cardinals yesterday.
Laughed because the Cardinals won 29-24.
Became confused because for a split second, he thought he was watching another Obama celebration.
Found it amusing that he and the 49ers wear the same colored leggings.
Said, "You [...]

Alex Smith Doubtful for Today

Alex Smith is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals as he is battling another problem with his surgically-repaired right shoulder.
Smith will consult with Dr. James Andrews, the renowned surgeon who worked on Smith's right shoulder last December.
This is obviously bad news for the former No. 1 overall pick, who hasn't been able to get his career back on-track since ex-offensive coordinator Norv Turner left to become the Chargers' head coach between the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Running back Michael Robinson, who played quarterback at Penn State, will be the emergency quarterback for the Niners on Sunday.

49ers QB Alex Smith Injures His Surgically Repaired Shoulder - GridironFans.com

49ers backup QB Alex Smith injured his surgically repaired right shoulder this week and is doubtful for tomorrow's game. That means Shaun Hill will be the back-up and that Michael Robinson would be the emergency back-up. Here's a quote from Mike Nolan: "Yesterday Alex Smith sustained a non-contact injury to his surgically repaired right shoulder. He will be consulting with his surgeon in Birmingham for treatment recommendations. At this time there are no specifics to the injury or a timetable."

The 49?ers players have selected four captains for this upcoming 2008 season: center Eric Heitmann by the offense, linebacker Patrick Willis by the offense, Michael Robinson by the special teams and player representative Walt Harris. The team last season had a captain at every position, but coach Mike Nolan said not all the choices were "mature enough to handle the job." He called it a one-year experiment that failed.
