Antonio Dixon Making Front Office Look Good

This is the only picture of Antonio Dixon as an Eagle. When the Eagles cut quarterback A.J. Feeley, many expected that he would be replaced with a tight end or perhaps a linebacker to compensate for the loss of Stewart Bradley.Instead, the Eagles opted to pick up a little-known rookie defensive tackle out of Miami who had just been waived by a division rival. The Redskins didn't feel as though Antonio Dixon was good enough to make a mediocre roster in Washington, so why would he be able to...

Eagles Rebound, Dunk Redskins

Well that was fun. After one of the worst weekends in recent memory, the Birds rebounded to smoke the Redskins 27-17. The contest really wasn't even that close. The Eagles jumped to an early 17-point lead in the first half on the strength of some big plays from both the offense and defense along with a few Redskins misuces, and they were able to put things on cruise control in the second half. Washington added seven late in the fourth, when the game was basically already decided.&#xD...

Projecting the 2009 Eagles 53 man roster, Ver. 3.0

Now that the Michael Vick saga seems to be settling down, it's time to take another look at the how the Eagles roster is shaping up. With a preseason game under their belts, several players made strong cases for being on the team. This is my third attempt at predicting the Eagles Week One roster. Below my roster projection I have also listed several players who are on the bubble and I gave

Why The Eagles Are Fine Without Stewart Bradley

Football is all about controlling the line of scrimmage. On their own, Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley haven't turned into dominating players who frequently penetrate offensive lines and make plays in the backfield. Together though, they have become one of the best defensive tackle tandems in football, refusing to relent at the point of attack, eating up blockers and allowing their teammates to come up with big stops.

They were arguably the two most valuable players in...

Why the Eagles’ Young Linebackers Are Crucial to the Team’s Success

Defense wins ballgames.
Everyone knows that.
The Eagles have themselves a very good defense. The defensive line is among the best in the game and the secondary is deep and experienced.
With Pro Bowl end Trent Cole and underrated stars Mike Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley anchoring the interior, the line will thrive as always in 2009. With the [...]

The Real Reasons for the Eagles loss to the Cardinals

Living near Philadelphia, every time the Eagles do badly, I always hear some sort of excuse. For the past 8 years, that reason has always seemed to be Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. I am sick and tired about hearing how Andy Reid needs to be fired, and that Donovan McNabb needs to be traded. For ...

Bunkley's House Ransacked

Eagles' offensive tackle Broderick Bunkley discovered that his South Philadelphian home had been broken into and burglarized upon returning home from a pre-season game Saturday. He told police that the assailant stole $7,950 worth of guns, video-game systems and cameras, according to police records.

Police reportedly found "viable evidence" that they hoped would lead to a suspect.

Bunkley lives in the Reserve in Packer Park, a pricey, suburban-styled development on 20th Street near Pattison Avenue. Eagles' offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg also calls the neighborhood home.

Bunkley told police that he left his home around 1 PM on July 24 for Eagles training camp and returned oround 4:30 AM Saturday morning.

Bunkley reported a PlayStation 3, an XBox 360, a Nintendo Wii and a $600 camcorder among his missing items. He also reported stolen his entire collection of firearms, which included: a custom-made .223-caliber rifle, an Armalite rifle, two Desert Eagle .50-caliber handguns, a .45-caliber Glock handgun and ammunition for all of the weapons, according to police records.

Both Bunkley and the Eagles declined to comment.

Eagles may acquire veteran defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson

The Eagles are rumored to acquire another player, and for once its not a receiver. The New York Jets are frantically looking for a team to take defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson off their hands before they have to dole out a 3 million dollar signing bonus, and it appears that the Eagles might be the team that the Jets ending up dealing with. The Eagles would likely have to offer up a few mid-round draft picks, something they have plenty of, but as an article on ProFootballTalk.com speculates...

Eagles Links: All the good stuff

Saving the city of Philadelphia from severe depression, the Eagles made a statement against the Lions by ruthlessly dominating them with the offense we all knew the Eagles were capable of having. The defense did its part the first two games, everyone was just waiting for the explosive Eagles offense that was there in 2004. Will it continue? We shall see on Sunday. Now its time for the Giants in a pivotal NFC East matchup. In order to keep my spirits up about this team, I had to read about all that is the Eagles excellence. Here are the links.
