Packers Jarrett Bush has Managed to Stick Around

Packers CB Jarrett Bush has stuck with the team since 2006.
The pitchforks were out and the torches were lit after the 2009 season. Packers fans wanted cornerback Jarrett Bush off the team.
I admit that I was one of those Packers fans holding a torch high in one hand and a pitchfork in the other. I was sick of seeing Bush stumbling three yards behind a receiver after a double move left him in the dust and led to another touchdown against the Packers.
Ted Thompson has never paid much attention to the pitchfork- and torch-wielding sector of the Packers’ fanbase, and he held true to that philosophy with Bush. Now the undrafted free agent out of Utah St. and claimed by the Packers off waivers from Carolina is one of the longest-tenured Packers, a good special teams player and, dare I say it, somewhat beloved by fans.
I say “somewhat” because if Bush ever ends up playing significantly as a defensive back again, it will probably get ugly and fans will turn on him again. But as long as he ...

Packers Jarrett Bush: 2012 Player Evaluation and Report Card

Jarrett Bush
1) Introduction: There probably isn’t anyone on the Packers roster right now more infuriating to fans than Jarrett Bush. Coming onto the team as an undrafted free agent in 2006, his performance as a cornerback/safety has been frustrating, to say the least. With an uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (and generally doing the wrong thing), Bush was never a welcome sight on the defense. His only redeeming qualities have been a highly improved special teams play and a timely interception against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

It’s time for the Green Bay Packers defense to put up or shut up

Green Bay Packers CB Jarrett Bush was the latest Packers defender to say the team beat themselves
When I heard on ESPN this morning that Green Bay Packers CB Jarrett Bush came out and said “we beat ourselves, they didn’t beat us”, I was furious to say the least. Bush isn’t the first Packers player to make this statement either, Pro Bowl LB Clay Matthews also said the team beat themselves in regards to last years playoff loss vs. the New York Giants. This article isn’t just about Jarrett Bush, it is about an entire Packers defense that needs to learn to keep their mouth shut.
We beat ourselves. They really didn’t beat us, We just have to hunker down and make sure we’re gap sound, and get on the same page. Obviously, small things being miscommunicated on the field become big things, so they exploited us and that’s what happened”

Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush: 49ers “really didn’t beat us”

Monday morning mistakenness continues around the NFL.
First, Brandon Weeden tried to convince us that he wasn’t overwhelmed in his first start against the Eagles. And now, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush is trying to convince us that the San Francisco 49ers didn’t flat out beat the Packers.
But before we get to Bush’s mistakenness, let’s state the facts.
The 49ers put up 30 points and 377 yards on offense. 186 of those yards were on the ground and Alex Smith went 20-26 for 191 yards and two touchdowns. With those numbers in mind, now we allow Bush to make his case.
We beat ourselves. They really didn’t beat us,” offered a defiant but misguided cornerback Jarrett Bush.
“We just have to hunker down and make sure we’re gap sound and get on the same page. Obviously, small things being miscommunicated on the field become big things, so they exploited us and that’s what happened.”

Packers CB Jarrett Bush says the 49ers didn’t beat them

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jarrett Bush sounded a lot like Clay Matthews Jr. after yesterday’s loss to the 49ers.
Bush claims the 49ers didn’t beat them, but they rather beat themselves.
“We beat ourselves. They really didn’t beat us,” said Bush.
“We just have to hunker down and make sure we’re gap sound and get on the same page. Obviously, small things being miscommunicated on the field become big things, so they exploited us and that’s what happened.”
Let’s face it the Packers defense was horrible last season and it looked horrible yesterday. Time for Bush, Matthews and any other defensive player on the Packers to realize if they don’t step things up, they won’t be headed back to a Super Bowl any time soon, after getting rolled over by the 49ers.

Packers 2012 Training Camp Depth Chart: Week 1

Jarrett Bush holds a starting cornerback position though the first week of camp.
As the Green Bay Packers Training Camp unfolds, I am going to do my best to track the players along the depth chart. While things will certainly change over the course of the preseason, this gives us an idea of how the coaches are valuing the players.
Please note that this is not a projection, but rather a snapshot ranking based on observations of training camp practices. Those players seen on the first team units are obviously in the running for starting jobs, while those on second team units are still working their way up the ladder. And as we should all know by now, special teams roles will continue to play a part in how each player is valued.
Notes are provided after each position to help you understand why players were ranked as they are. Most of my information comes from the beat writers who have been watching practice, using their Twitter feeds and articles as references. In deeper positions, the...

CB Bush returning to Packers on 3-year deal

Cornerback and special teams ace Jarrett Bush has agreed to a three-year deal to return to the Green Bay Packers, according to his agent.

Agent Derrick Fox says Bush agreed to return to the Packers after making free agent visits to Arizona and the New York Jets. Fox says Bush wanted to be with the Packers the whole time, and only would have left if he had been offered the chance to start.

Bush has played in 94 regular season games for the Packers since 2006, with seven career starts. He has three career interceptions, including two last season.

Report: Cornerback Bush returns to Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers on Tuesday made their first free-agent move of the offseason, reportedly agreeing to bring back cornerback and special teams gunner Jarrett Bush.

Bush's new deal with Green Bay is for three years, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com. Financial terms of the contract are not yet known.

Prior to re-signing with the Packers, Bush reportedly visited the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.

Bush went undrafted in 2006 and joined Green Bay later that year after being released by the Carolina Panthers in preseason.

Last season, Bush, who will turn 28 in May, primarily played in dime situations on defense as the fourth cornerback. Then, in the Packers' playoff loss to the New York Giants, Bush was in on first and second downs as the nickel back. Due to Bush's strong tackling ability, coach Mike McCarthy preferred him to Sam Shields.

It is likely that Bush will return to his previous role as the dime cornerback in 2012 while specializing in downfield tackles

Jarrett Bush to Re-sign With the Green Bay Packers

Jarrett Bush Re-signs with the Packers
It’s being reported today that cornerback and special teams ace Jarrett Bush has decided the grass is not greener elsewhere and will stay with the Packers. According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, he spoke with a league source familiar with the Bush negotiations. The source told Wilson that Bush has signed a three-year contract with Green Bay after visiting with the Arizona Cardinals and the NY Jets.
Bush was scheduled to visit with the Dallas Cowboys as well, but decided to not bother and just re-upped with the Packers.
Bush has been a favorite whipping boy for many Packers fans, but the last two seasons he has shown steady improvement in the secondary and has elevated his special teams play to be one of the best in the league.
More on this as the story unfolds…

Jarrett Bush: 2011 Green Bay Packers Evaluation and Report Card

Jarrett Bush
1) Introduction: Like any other player on the Green Bay Packers’ secondary, 2011 was not exactly a banner year for Jarrett Bush. Still, he recorded a career high in interceptions (two, but hey it’s still a career high!) and recorded his first NFL sack finishing with one and a half on the season. Known as a special teams ace, Bush once again was a big contributor on an improved special teams unit.

3) Expectations coming into the season: Bush made a big interception of Ben Roethlisberger in Super Bowl XLV and played decent ball with Charles Woodson suffering a broken collarbone. Bush’s expectations for 2011 therefore were to keep improving and be ready to play should Woodson suffer an injury.
4) Player’s highlights/low-lights: As it turned out, Bush started two games during the 2011 season. A big highlight for him came during the regular season finale against the Lions with Woodson and many of ...
