Scrap the Game-by-Game Preview…

…I don't have all that much time on my hands. Maybe I do, but maybe I don't either. But anyway, I have decided to condense that doomed series into one blog: the three keys to the success of the Packers in 2008.
Aaron Rodgers
Yes, we all knew this one was coming. Rodgers has the hopes and dreams

Bengals game, Olympics

Hey there yard...been a crazy 48 hours with the whole olympics and the swimming and us playing the bengals tonight. I felt really good about our performance and man if we would have kept our 1st string in, we would had killed them. but so yea me and tramon got the nod to start this game because al harris and wood sat out this one out. but it was alot of fun teaching some of the young guys about game time things and just little technique things. if you guys didnt know, we lost 17 to 20 but it also showed alot of progress we made and things we need to clean up on. Araron looked good after a shaky first drive but then came thru big time so that showed a lot of promise. And we shut down chad johnson. i dont think he caught any balls tonight that i know of...and we felt pretty good about the secondary.

The olympic swimming relay was nuts. if you didnt see it, you surely did miss a historic moment with the french, very exciting, gave me goosebumps to see an underdog come thru like they did.. congrats to the us swim team...i admire you and your guys will to win and heart!

It's Go time for Training Camp

Training camp is well for me, right now me and tramon williams are battling it out for the nickel spot so its going to be a good fight but all good fun competition and will only make us better in the future and especially right now. So alot of things have been going around about brett farve, and its a complicated situation and for the most part we are letting the front office deal with the problems and situaton with farve, because even though if he is or not with us we still have to be able to win games and so therefore, we can't let us get distracted with the all the issues in the media right now. So i can't wait for the intersquad scrimmage for family comes i ready to play under the lights and the crowd. So i gotta get some sleep guys so I can recover from these double days. We finally have 2moro off so i am going to enjoy that later guys!!

Last week prep for camp!!

Its go time!! 3 and half weeks my own butt kicking trying to do everything i can to be ready for this years season. As most of you probably know that i've been playing a lot of positions now. Corner, Safety, Dime, and Nickel back, So i have a lot on my plate this year. Gotta go into training camp to battle everyday during these two a days. I think we got a training camp short too, because i think we only have like 6 two a days this camp because our preseason is so hectic. I hope you guys are ready for a young packers team to continue to be a force to be reckoned with, because we aren't slowing down anytime soon.

Again watch my girlfriend in the Olympics, Jacquelyn johnson.. BEAST!! heptathlon

Hey yard!

Sorry i've been in missing in action but i promise i am back..and will be on constantly for now on. So now about the farve controversy, I know alot of people of heard about alot of things about him retiring and then him coming back. But i think we are going in a different direction. And goin to keep Aaron Rodgers as our starting qb... i think it is time for A Rod to step into the spotlight..dont you?..

So my girlfriend i told you guys about ...that ran traqck for arizona state made the olympic team for beijing..she does the heptathalon. And she finally got the internet so she can get on here and do some blogs for you guys as well so that is very exciting..and so proud of her. Unfortunately i cant go to Beijing with her..but she knows if i could i would. The reason i cant go is because we will be in the middle of training camp. So i can do is watch it on tv and try and get updates as she competes. So you guys try to watch for her and let me know also if you see and im going to try and watch most of it..but sometimes might be sleeping getting ready for two a days. catch you guts later

Meet the Draft Picks: Patrick Lee

Patrick Lee

Many of us felt this pick was coming at #30 during the NFL Draft. But that got traded to the New York Jets. Then we thought it was coming at #36. Jordy Nelson came instead. #56? Sounds good to me. Wait, nevermind. Then it finally came at #60, 30 picks later than we thought: the Packers drafted a cornerback. Al Harris is going to be 34 this season. Charles Woodson is going to be 32. Harris was absolutely destroyed by Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants during the NFC Championship Game (which prompted me to push for the drafting of James Hardy). It was the general feeling that the Packers were drafting a cornerback at #30, whether Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Aqib Talib, Mike Jenkins, or Antoine Cason dropped to the Packers or the Packers picked Brandon Flowers. None of the happened. The Packers went with Nelson at #36. Packers fans and analysts were left waiting until #56 to see which cornerback the Packers were going to choose. The Packers threw a curveball by selecting Brian Brohm (I'm still scratching my head). This left #60, where the inevitable happened: the Packers picked a cornerback, the tenth defensive back taken in the draft, Patrick Lee, from Auburn University.
From what has been said about Lee, he seems to be the perfect pick for the Packers system. At 6?0?, 200 pounds, he has decent size for a corner and is big enough to imitate the physical style played by Packer starters Woodson and Harris. There is a lot of youth in the secondary currently, with Will Blackmon, Jarrett Bush, and Tramon Williams all with three or less years of experience competing for the nickel back slot next to Woodson and Harris. Williams played there the last few games of 2007 and did a decent job.
In his senior season at Auburn, Lee had 55 tackles (40 solo), four interceptions, and 10 passes broken up. Lee can also throw his name into the kick return competition if he so pleases, as he averaged 25.8-yards per kickoff return as a senior. GM Ted Thompson said Lee was a "real good value pick" for #60. I agree with that sentiment as this draft was saturated with cornerbacks, and we definitely do not want an Ahmad Carroll repeat. Thompson also said:
"He's a tough guy. He likes to play bump-and-run. We think he's going to fit well with what we do on defense in terms of putting these guys in lockdown situations."
I think I'll pick Lee to win the competition for the third cornerback slot. If he doesn't win it, I expect him to have it sometime during the season.

Hey what's good Yard!?

Hey yard.. just wanted to let you guys know that OTA's is going really well, been playing and offseason workouts been definitely helping out. All the running I did and stuff during the off season working with my old db coach from college. Actually, matter of fact, he actually has an internship here with the Packers...who would of thought, right? But yea my girl jacquelyn johnson the track star is coming to visit me this weekend..so i am very amped about that. I know you guys have a lot of questions about Aaron Rodgers... asking if he is going to be ready and all. And you know what, I have all the confidence in the world in him. I definitely think we will not be missing too much of a beat coming in to this season. We have 2 and a half more weeks of OTA's and then our mini camp. So we still have a ways to go but like i said things are goin well... and running with a fire in the chest..because i want it so bad! i'll keep u updated about the rest of the week..you guys take it easy!

Hey Yard!

Hey yard .. Just came on to say whats up...just trying to get in better shape than I was last year. I have been doing spin classes and yoga to keep up my flexibility and conditioning. We have like 2 more weeks until we actually start playing football and i'm so excited because we have some good competition coming in at the receivers and cant wait to get first crack at them. Also i went to Arizona this past weekend to watch one of my friends run in the pac 10 championship. Her name is Jacquelyn Johnson and she does the heptathalon and i watched her break like 4 records when i was there. She is 6 time national champion and like a 9 time all american. I'm going to try and see if I can get her on the yard to write some blogs...and see if i can pull a few strings. She is very succesful at what she does a great person and loves to compete. i think she broke the meet record, the stadium record and the pac 10 record, for the heptahalon for points. She might be able to beat me in a race. And even more crazy is that her coach after she is done running she wants to go pro. She will def'ly be at the summer olympics in beijing. I tried to see if i could go but we will be in the middle of the football season. So you're watching TV and you see the olympic trials or the nationals meet...keep your eyes peeled for this girl...she is a force to be reckoned with.

Green Bay's Draft

So we first started off drafting a WR, but I think we might move him to tight end because we need one. Jordy Nelson is 6'2 220 lbs. I don't know, that's pretty big, but if he stays at WR then we will be a pretty physical team at that position. We also picked up Brian Brohm from Louisville, so I will have many opportunities to be a living hell being around the ball trying to pick off his balls. And we ended up picking a corner in the final 2nd round... but let it be known he better be ready to compete... Patrick Lee from Auburn, let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!

Things Goin' Smooth

Hey yard ! just came on to say whats up and say the few things that were on my mind. We start last week which is called IPW's basically standing for Individual player Workouts. And what we do is that we have meeting and stuff about scheming other teams, and review coverages that we did during the season and correct some mistakes that we know now and that we did wrong during the season. We also look at some technique things that we do not do now..but what we did in the past to learn from it. I was good to see that stuff to let you know what not to do anymore. And i think i can speak for all the defensive backs that were in the room with me... that we have come a long way. So after meeting we do a walk thru in the gym. after that we lift weights for about an hour and half then we go to the field and we run some drills. Specifically for your position, because thats what these workouts are for, to improve what you need to work as a player. Because some players have different weaknesses and also different strengths.

Other than that i was Santa Barbera this past weekend hanging out with some friends and i had a great time running along the beach looking at the ocean, i was even lucky enough to have dolphins swimming the direction i was running, so i thought that was a treat to see and sun was setting at the same time. Unbelievable!!

So this weekend i was picked to be at the draft party this weekend so that should be fun..but at the same kinda weird because they might draft a corner, so we'll eventually battle for a spot so yea..just wanted to say whats up.. stay true and compete in anything you do!!

Reality in the Making of a Dream!!

So its the second week of the off season program. And alot of the workouts in utah and cali have been paying off quite a bit. Even the snowboarding haha for those who have been keeping up with my blogs. The workouts are so much easier than my own personal workouts by myself in utah. I will be going to florida to train with chad johnson and marquand manuel again to get an edge on some of the other corners will be competing against. Which was a lot of fun because training really early in the morning and the treat to go to south beach to enjoy the rest of the day was freakin amazing. But the hard work must come first. So yea yo can definitely tell who was working out and who wasn't working out. Some players were throwing up and others like me were cruising thru the workouts. And we compete for what is called the performer of the week...and i got it last year on the first week! and basically it just looks good for the coaches to see what kind of hard work you have been doing during the off season conditioning program. We also do this program, its like muscle movement deviations, where its a screening test to where its shows you how efficient your body works and things of that nature. So just keeping up with the feet work and working on some little things to help me get better as the off season comes along.
So, I have been working out my best friend who plays here for an arena 2 team called the green bay blizzard and i guess he was chosen out of a random 8 people to be followed around in a reality tv show, and basically it just shows how someone at that level. And shows the struggle that goes along with the level of football they are playing at. Also the income is not that great at all at the arena 2 level and it just shows u the dedication that they have to have to keep and pursue there dreams to make it to the NFL. And so the camera guy wanted to watch one of the workouts we do on our own after his practices because he took 5 years off so I'm helping him with the fundamentals of playing cornerback. And what was pretty cool was that when I was working him out the camera guy asked if I could where a microphone because i was coaching him up on his mistakes and things to that nature. So yea i do not know when the show will air. I guess it is in the process making of being pitched to ESPN or BET. So I thought that was pretty cool.

Recovering from What should have been ours!

Well let me first start off by saying that I'm still feeling the loss against the giants. That was a definitely a game that hurt the most, almost surreal. But at the same time we have t tip our hats off to the giants beating the 18-0 Patriots. It was funny because almost the whole team stayed that following wee after we lost because we did not want to believe that we lost. And i just felt that everyone in America that night wanted us to win that game and we had home field advantage, so it was even in our favor. So finally getting passed that its time to move from that loss look forward to the new season coming up.

So now we are in the off season been hitting it pretty hard at the gym. And people still bring up the giants game. And i sort of have to block it out because people keep bringing it up at the gym or at my old high school or even my junior college. But its OK I just have to keep pushing and not think about it

So in my off time i have been visiting my high school talking to kids about hard work and dedication. I was very rewarding considering I was sitting in there shoes and there desks not too long ago. So i think i actually some of the students because when the bell rung, the student wouldn't leave they had some many questions to ask me. Like what I did to get where I'm at now ? and what little things did i do to be good at what I do? I may have talked about one question for like an hour. So some of the students we so shocked that they finally met me and shook my hand for literally for like 2 minutes straight..haha and he couldn't look me in the eye. I got to my grade school tomorrow and talk to 5 and 6 graders so we will see how that goes.
