NFC East breakdown.

I feel like no one believes that the eagles can win the NFC east but I am going to break it down by position, and that will show they are plenty good enough to win the division

QB:
This is where i differ from most, everyone LOVES Romo but his numbers were pedestrian both years. He throws too many pics and does not come up when it counts. If Mcnabb can stay healthy I would put them like this
1.Eagles
2.Cowboys
3.Giants
4.Redskinsl

RB: At the running back position the clear cut best back is westbrook, and with Buckhalter and Booker backing him up the Eagles take the cake at RB. I love the way marion barber runs the ball, but he is very overrated many people watch espn and see barber and go wow this guys great. However, he only had 975 yards, he needs to be the feature back for a full year and put up bigger numbers then that. People also forget how good Portis is and the redskins have betts too so they are in front of the cowboys, and then i put jacobs and the giants at the back of the pack even though that is very good RB corps.
1.Eagles
2.Redskins
3.Cowboys
4. Giants

Wr/TE: This is where the eagles sturggle, they have no number one, can beat double coverage, wide reciever, niether do the redskins, but the giants and cowboys do(Owens and Plaxico). Owens is better then Plaxico and the cowboys also have other option i.e. Witten, and craytons alright too. Then its between the redskins and eagles for three ands four. While I love curtis and the addition of desean jackson they are not great, at least not yet for desean. The redskins do have moss, cooley, and then about 5 number 2/3 wide recievers. so this poistoin goes

1.Cowboys
2.Giants
3.Redskins
4. Eagles

OL: This is an interesting position. the O-lines for all the teams have been streaky but i put them like this
1.eagles
2.cowboys
3. Giants
4. Redskins

DL: At DL this division is stacked names like, Osi and Jayston taylor, and demarcus ware(I know LB but hes a pass rusher), Trent Cole, Justin Tuck, Greg Eliis. They are all very good or great pass rushers. At DT last year Mike patterson was one of the best in the league leading all D-linemen in tackles. I can't really tell yo how good the years were for the otehr teams DTs but i know the D-lines in general and they go like this, but they are all very good.
1.Giants
2.Cowboys
3.Eagles
4.Redskins

LB:I differ here from many people. I know no one knows the eagles linebackers but I think they are going to be playmakerrs all year this year, they are young talented athletic playmakers. The cowboys have very good Lbs, I do not like Zach thomas as much as most, too slow and old, but he is still a geart LB. The Giants have pierce but that is about it ecspecially after losing kawika mitchell, and the redskins have LFB and marcus washington. I rank the LBs, but i think by the end of the season the eagles could have the best corps in the division and for years to come.
1.Cowboys
2.Redskins
3.Eagles
4.Redskins

DB: In my opinion this is the most clear cut, the Eagles have the best with three pro bow caliber corners, then the cowboys with a lot of talent at the position, then the redskins, and then I just dont think the giants are very good in teh secondary.
1.Eagles
2.cowboys
3.Redskins
4. Giants

Then special teams. this will shock everyone but I think the eagles now ahve the best special teams on the division. Desean jackson is a wizard of return and we all know how good david akers can be, and if you've been to leigh you can see Sav Rocca's potential. Then plus the free-agent signings of the free agent specialist it makes for a great unit I rank um like this.
1.Eagles
2.Cowboys
3.Redskins
4.Giants

From thos rankings it is clear that the eagles have the talent to win this division. They just have to put this together on the field. The NFC representitive in the Suber Bowl will be from this division, my opinion I think it will be the Eagles or Cowboys, can not wait to watch those two teams play. As jessica simpson(or Justin timberlake) said at the espys, Romo Romo Wherefor art thouh Romo.

We first learned of the Zorn Star's penchant for abnormal QB drills back in early June during the OTAs. Well, this week he broke them back out in force. Here is Colt Brennan and Jason Campbell playing a little dodgeball during practice on Tuesday (click for much larger image):

Are the Rams Good Enough to Overcome an Impossible Schedule?

With training camp approaching, everyone is getting their rose-colored glasses on straight, I thought I would look at the Rams schedule and see if they have a chance to overcome their schedule and make a charge at the playoffs. Obviously, the teams that we think will be tough teams at this part of the year may not be. Some other teams could surprise everyone and have great years. That is why we love football so much. Here's a rundown of how the schedule looks as training camp opens and my (extremely) uniformed predictions.
Sept. 7 at Philadelphia Eagles – This is the most important game of the year, being the first, and a winnable game during the tough first half of the season. The Eagles started slow last year and only have McNabb, Westbrook and ex-Ram Kevin Curtis on offense. This game being in Philly does not help one bit. This game could go either way and could be a bellwether for the rest of the Rams season. PREDICTION: Win
Sept. 14 NEW YORK GIANTS – Now we have the defending champs at home. No one thinks that the Giants are going to be as good as they were in the 2007 postseason, but they are no cupcakes. This will be another major challenge for the offensive line and blocking schemes. A win here is far from guaranteed, but with a solid run game and good pressure on Eli, the Rams should have a chance. PREDICTION: Loss
Sept. 21 at Seattle Seahawks – The Rams of late have had nothing but trouble with the Seahawks at Qwest Field. The Seahawks are aging, but should be able to defend their home turf against the Rams. PREDICTION: Loss

Sept. 28 BUFFALO BILLS – No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills and all the experts like the Bills as a sleeper for the playoffs. However, the Bills have been streaky, inconsistent and disappointing in years past. PREDICTION: Win
Oct. 5 BYE – Phew.
Oct. 12 at Washington Redskins - With a Bye week to prepare, Haslett and company will find a way to bother Jason Campbell enough and Saunders will figure out how to contain Jason Taylor. PREDICTION: Win
Oct. 19 DALLAS COWBOYS – The 'Boys embarrassed the Rams on National TV last year and look strong enough to win again this year. They probably will have the home-field advantage at the Dome. PREDICTION: Loss
Oct. 26 at New England Patriots – At the Patriots, enough said. PREDICTION: Loss
After the Patriots game, the Rams schedule gets significantly easier. If the Rams can get to this point at 3-4 or better, they should be very happy.
Nov. 2 ARIZONA CARDINALS – The Cardinals are improving, but so are the Rams. PREDICTION: Win.
Nov. 9 at New York Jets – The Jets don't know whether they should be rebuilding or trying to win this year. This should be a close game between two mediocre teams. Being that it is at Giants Stadium, I'll give this one to the Jets. PREDICTION: Loss.
Nov. 16 at San Francisco 49ers – The hated Niners appear twice in the last seven weeks. First, the Rams travel to SFO to battle the Niners who have struggled in past years. The Niners may not have sorted out their QB situation by now, so as long as Frank Gore is contained the Rams can win. PREDICTION: Win.
Nov. 23 CHICAGO BEARS – This will be another home game for the away team at the Dome. The Bears also have not sorted out their QB situation, but have a tough defense and special teams year after year. Special Teams dooms the Rams again. PREDICTION: Loss.
Nov. 30 MIAMI DOLPHINS – The Dolphins are rebuilding for next year and the year after, but they will be instilled with Bill Parcells toughness. PREDICTION: Win.
Dec. 7 at Arizona Cardinals – It is getting tougher to win out in the desert and the Cardinals may have put together a full team this year. PREDICTION: Loss
Dec. 14 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS – I predicted a Rams loss at Seattle and Seattle has barely beat the Rams at home in the past few years. Ex-Seahawk Josh Brown is the difference in the Dome. PREDICTION: Win.
Dec. 21 SAN FRANCISCO – The Rams finish off their NFC West schedule with the Niners at home. The Niners will be tanking for a draft position at this point. PREDICTION: Win.
Dec. 28 at Atlanta Falcons – This is a lost season for Atlanta, but they may be better at the end of the year, provided Matt Ryan stays healthy. He is overrated, but he's better than anyone else they have. PREDICTION: Win.
The Rams could go 8-0 in the back half of their schedule as no team there is unbeatable. But, looking at this estimate, the Rams will be 9-7 and challenging for a playoff spot. I think that is all any Rams fan could hope for. I think I was a little optimistic in the front half of the schedule and pessimistic in the back half. Any wins before November will be very valuable for the stretch run.

Redskins go from Worst to slightly better than worst

This article that was posted has all but congratulated both clubs (Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins) for a job well done. While I see this as a productive move for the Fins, I am hesistant to give any accolades to the Dan Snyder regime. Their free agent signings since 2000 has been disastrous. Their coaching choices (Steve Spurrier-college guru, Joe Gibbs-formerly retired, and Jim Zorn-who has been nothing more than a positions coach) has been more than questionable. And they lack any form of experience at the quarterback position.

This isn't to knock Jason Campbell, who has shown good talent and judgement in limited stints, nor Zorn, who could become a good headcoach, given his 20 years of experience in the game, but this league is largely driven by coaching and quarterback play. And with all the hoopla surrounding this trade, I just don't see how this catapults them over the Superbowl winning Giants, the extremely talented depth of the Cowboys (yes I am a fan), nor any team with Donovan Mcnab on its roster. I realize that the Skins gave up relatively little to make this trade happen. But I question whether Jason Taylor, who has been beaten up mentally by playing with the dismal Fins, will really be concentrated on being that difference maker the team needs with Hollywood calling in a year. I think Redskins fans shouldn't lose perspective becasue the media has nothing to talk about with so much baseball left in the season.

The Difference Between a QB1 and a QB2

To continue the fantasy definition series, we'll take a look at the divisions between fantasy quarterbacks.

After nailing down the difference between running backs, understanding the definition of a QB1 versus a QB2 could make or break your fantasy team.

Every winning fantasy team has at least one QB1 on the roster -- sometimes two. That's pretty much a given. We'll break down the quarterback position into QB1s and QB2s, but sadly, QB3s don't really exist except maybe in Canada or the arena league.

Fantasy Football Quarterbacks - Scrap Pile

With training camp approaching, I figured what better time to take a look at the QBs around the league.

We profiled the Big Dogs, Second Tier QBs, and the Serviceable QBs, now it's time to look at the rest of the signal callers. I know scrap pile may seem a little harsh, but when you consider we already profiled 20 QBs, you catch my drift. These guys will be used on bye weeks and when injuries strike. I'm sure a few of them will turn out to be decent plays. Some will likely lose their starting job. That's the nature of the beast when you deal with the shallow end of the QB pool.

Scrap Pile
Jason Campbell - I actually don't mind Jason Campbell. If he weren't coming off a knee injury I would probably put him in the Serviceable QB group. He made decent strides in his second year. I would just like to see him throw more TDs.

Jeff Garcia - Garcia is a decent play in leagues that penalize for INTs since he seldom throws to the wrong color jersey. He's not going to give you a huge week, but he's a decent fill-in when your starter is on bye. He's in the scrap pile because Tampa has a few decent QBs on hand in case they want to go a different direction.

Tarvaris Jackson - With the acquisition of Benard Berrian, the development of Sidney Rice, the double-headed monster in the backfield, and a little experience gained, and T-Jack has some potential to break out of the scrap pile. He needs to gain confidence and consistency.

Alex Smith - Smith was a pick of mine to breakout last year. He made me look foolish. My expectations are justifiably lower this year. However, he does have Mike Martz to help him along, as well as newly acquired Bryant Johnson and Isaac Bruce. Perhaps this is the year Vernon Davis lives up to his hype as well.

JaMarcus Russell - They will probably be passing a lot since they will be behind in most games. He's got that going for him. As long as Javon Walker can get home for some beauty rest instead of curbside butt whoopings, he's got a legitimate weapon. He's still very inexperienced though, and there will be plenty of bumps along the way. I can see him leading the league in INTs.

Chad Pennington/Kellen Clemens - Let's face it. Neither of these QBs excite you. For good reason. They do have a pair of quality WRs, but I can see split duty out of these two. That's a situation I'll steer clear of.

Trent Edwards/J.P. Losman - Trent is penciled in as the starter, but I'm not sure Buffalo has witnessed the last of Mr. Losman. Neither is going to wow you with statistics, but they may be useful for a game or two this year.

Brodie Croyle/Damon Huard - I 'd like to see Brodie Croyle take the job and run with it. He's got some weapons in Tony Gonzalez and Dwayne Bowe. Still, I know I wouldn't trust him.

Rex Grossman - Yuck. Marty Booker is back. Oh boy. They lost their best deep threat. They are going to need Devin Hester to step up his game if Rexy is going to even be relevant in fantasy circles. Avoid this like the plague.

Kyle Boller/Troy Smith/Joe Flacco - I actually could see all three getting starts this year. Boller get the starting nod and loses it by Week 4. Troy Smith takes over and mans the post until Week 10. The rookie Joe Flacco finishes the season off to get him experience for next season. That's how it plays out in my head.

Josh McCown/John Beck/Chad Henne - I can see the same scenario go down in Miami. McCown early. Beck gets another shot and misses, Henne finishes with eyes towards the future.

Chris Redman/Joey Harrington/Matt Ryan - The question is when, not if, the Matt Ryan era will begin. I don't know why, but I'd like to see Joey have a decent little go of things. I've had a soft spot for him for whatever reason. I think he got a bad shake in Detroit, and was ruined. That said, the sooner they get to Ryan the better.

Where’s He Going to Go?

Presumably, the Packers don't really want Favre back after all that's happened. Essentially, their message is they aren't going to free him to sign with any of the league's other 31 teams — especially not NFC North division rivals Minnesota, Chicago or Detroit — and he won't be given his starting job back if he returns to Green Bay.
The most likely scenario would have Favre petitioning the league for reinstatement and the Packers trading him to an AFC team, or at least an NFC team outside the division. Among the teams that fit that profile are the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.
The Packers' best-case scenario, in which Favre would've simply stayed retired, almost certainly won't happen. The Packers went so far as to send an intermediary down to Mississippi last week to try to talk Favre into staying retired, but their attempt failed.
The Wisconsin State Journal's article puts serious contenders for Favre out there for the first time in a while. But would these really help Brett Favre? He obviously wants to go to a contender and the Minnesota Vikings are rumored to be his top choice (which means he's looking to follow Darren Sharper and Ryan Longwell), but Minnesota most likely isn't going to happen. Do these really give Favre a chance to be a winner though?
The Miami Dolphins were 1-15 last year and are starting from the ground up. They have a new coach in Tony Sparano and a new head man in Bill Parcells. If Favre wants to win, Miami would probably not be the best option. Parcells and Sparano are getting reputations as strictly business, given their run-in with superstar-turned-wanna-be-actor Jason Taylor. A Taylor-for-Favre swap is pretty intriguing, but I don't think that's what Taylor wants and Favre wants a winner, but I don't see the Dolphins turning into playoff contenders right away. Right now, John Beck, Chad Henne, and Josh McCown are the quarterbacks on the roster for the Dolphins. Beck started last year and had a lot of trouble adjusting to the pro-game. He could have been Cam Cameron's quarterback of the future, but with Parcells coming in, his future is up in the air. Parcells used a high draft pick on Henne, who could be Parcells' "guy" while McCown is the veteran in the mix. McCown also happens to be a friend of the Packers family, along with Nathan Poole, for knocking the Vikings out and Packers into the playoffs in (I think) 2003. God, I love opening old wounds. So the Dolphins do not look that likely if Favre wants to win. If he wants to play and end up on MediCare, he can go for it.
The Baltimore Ravens would be the worst situation for me besides an NFC North team. I may be in the Baltimore area, but I do not like the Ravens. Besides the personal anguish this would cost me, the Ravens cannot quite afford Favre. Right now the Packers have 2008 first round pick Joe Flacco, 2006 Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, and bust Kyle Boller. The Ravens are also reeling from the Steve McNair-era where they were at the mercy of an aging quarterback on the downside of his career. I have read many columnists in the Baltimore-area newspapers, and it's clear they do not want Favre. They know that on the heels of a 5-11 season that they need to rebuild and devote time and confidence to either Flacco or Smith, something they did not do with Boller. The only way to get their quarterbacks better and to put themselves in a position to win in the future would be to let Flacco and Smith play and become experienced.
I pretty much covered the Chiefs, one of the most inept franchises in history. But they can still have fantasies. Like this one. And this one. And finally this one.
The Jets are intriguing. Favre is older than head coach Eric Mangini. Kellen Clemens looks like he could be a good quarterback if he is given time to play, which wouldn't happen if Favre joined the team. Chad Pennington is still on the team and he has had some pretty good moments in his time in the Big Apple. I'm no Jets expert, but this scenario is pretty mysterious. Who knows here. I just don't know whether Favre would want to play for a team coming off a losing season.
It seems like every year Sports Illustrated picks the Panthers to win the Super Bowl. But it doesn't happen. They are mired in the .500-ball heave that is the NFC South. The team does not have many offensive weapons outside of Steve Smith and at times last year, it seemed like they could not do anything right. Sure, they played in Super Bowl XXXVIII. But that feels like ancient history. Also, the Panthers seems set with Jake Delhomme as their signal caller.
Tampa Bay is quarterback heaven. Jon Gruden is apparently tight with Favre because of the days of the Holmgren regime. But seriously, how many quarterbacks on the roster? Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, Chris Simms, and rookie Josh Johnson. They've got about every type in there. Let's add aging-gunslinger to that category. The Bucs won the division in 2007, but the fact that they won it at 9-7 leaves no guarantee for them to be a winner in 2008. Not seeing Favre here.
The Redskins are another interesting possibility. They've got plenty of money (aka Dan Snyder) and a young quarterback in Jason Campbell. The Redskins know what they are doing with Campbell by letting him play last year. The only reason a player can get better is by playing. And he got better as the season went on before he got hurt and Todd Collins led the team to the playoffs. The Skins have been down this road before with Mark Brunell. I don't think that worked too well.
So there we have it. I'd say Favre doesn't have any really good options out there. Anywhere he went (Minnesota included) he would get in the way of the development of a team.

Redskins Sign QB Brennan

Finally, the mighty Colt Brennan is officially a Redskin.

According to John Clayton, Brennan signed a four-year, $1.8M contract, and was cleared to take part in Redskins camp. After the former Hawai'i QB's hip surgery, it was much speculated that he would begin the season on the PUP list. Now, he has a good chance to challenge Todd Collins for the #2 QB behind Jason Campbell.

Redskins Sign Colt Brennan

Assuming that Jim Zorn will remain in DC for the forseeable future I really like this. I was actually pretty excited when the 'Skins drafted the Hawaii QB but I had a feeling he would not make the team. Now the Burgundy and Gold have locked him up with a 1.8 million dollar, four year deal. I say that is a steal!

Although the NFL will probably provide stiffer competition than the WAC did, I think Colt could be a solid contributor (and perhaps sleeper) for the Redskins in the years to come.

Think about it: Brennan is known for his poise and accuracy.

What does a West Coast offense need?

Poise and accuracy.

The question is, why is Todd Collins on the team now that Al Saunders is gone? I always had the impression that Collins was sort of a one trick pony that followed Saunders around... I somehow doubt that he will be able to contribute like he did last year in a new offense.

NFL INSIDER: Favre and Thompson: --- Behind the Scenes Glimpse

In exclusive interviews with various flies on the wall, The Frozen Tundra was able to piece together additional information to provide a background to determine how this trade developed. I have reconstructed the timeline of events based on those reports.

March 1, 2008: Favre calls Ted Thompson to tell him he wants Randy Moss to be signed. "If not, I will know you are not trying to get me the personnel I need, and I'm not sure I want to stay in that situation," he declared.

There are no reports out of flies in Green Bay, since at that time of the year it is still too cold and they are dormant. However, it is believed by one fly he could hear Thompson laugh in reply, "Are you serious?! Do you think we would take on that headache long-term just so you will maybe play another year or two? Even the fans wouldn't be on your side with this one–they hate him!" After that, the phone call abruptly

March 4, 2008: After Moss re-signs with New England, Favre calls Thompson several times, always hanging up without speaking about ten seconds later. The last time he calls and says, "call me back and let me know what you will do to entice me to come back, or I'll have to retire by the end of the week." He then hangs up the phone. There are no return calls.

March 6, 2008: Favre announces his retirement, and everyone publicly expresses sorrow that an era is coming to an end. It is reported by a fly in Kiln that Favre later tells his wife, "I know I heard cork pop in Thompson's office."

April 26, 2008: Coach Mike McCarthy tells Thompson, "You better get me somebody else. Aaron is great and all, but he gets hurt at the drop of a feather. I need some insurance if I'm gonna be expected to win a title!" Thompson promptly drafts Brian Brohm.

July 1, 2008: Favre contacts McCarthy, saying "Thompson won't return my calls. I'm sorry I made him mad by retiring, but I thought he needed to know I was serious when I threatened to quit. I didn't know he'd make me follow through on it. Will you talk to him?"

McCarthy replied, "I'll see what I can do, Brett. You know I would like to have you under center, but your return would put us in a difficult place now. We've moved on, and sometimes you can't go back to the way things were."

July 3, 2008: Brett has just seen a History Channel program on guerrilla warfare, and knowing ESPN will just die if they can't talk about Favre, he sends his mother and brother out to do his bidding. Both of them attempt to paint Brett as someone who has kept himself ready to help the Packers and the organization as not wanting the legend who won a championship for them anymore.

July 4, 2008:After not hearing back from either McCarthy or Thompson, Favre is contacted by Roger Goodell, asking how his quest to return is going. "Ted won't return my calls," Brett says.

Goodell says, "since you're the biggest star in the league, it's in our best interests to pay to have the call routed through New York. He'll have to answer it if he thinks it's the league office."

Thompson does answer, but merely promises to call Brett back after he is done with his vacation.

July 7, 2008: Thompson is done with his vacation. Brett stands by the phone, even saying at 8pm, "he just got back. He's probably got a lot of work to do, so he'll be there late." No call.

July 10, 2008: Having still received no call and hearing Packers Vice President in charge of player personnel, Mark Murphy, say that as far as they know Favre is still retired and is not trying to return, he gets on the phone to his agent. "Pull out all the stops," he tells him.

"What do you think it's going to look like if I make a public statement that you want to come back and they won't let you? Maybe they won't get all those sell-outs. Maybe no one's gonna buy your jersey anymore."

July 11, 2008: Mortensen gets a call from Brett's agent stating that Brett wants the team to release him.

I want to thank the flies in Kiln, MS and Green Bay, WI for their contributions. There were also two flies in New York, NY, reporting from the draft and league office. In some cases, it took generations of flies meticulously passing on this information from generation to generation, as it was accumulated over the last four-plus months, which is over 30 fly lifetimes!

On Tuesday, July 15, we will have new accounts as this story, originally broken on Bleacher Report, develops.

Fantasy Football Notes - Washington Redskins

Dan Snyder's baby failed again. Well, depending on what your expectations were. The Washington Redskins finished 2007 with a 9-7 mark, and then quickly forgot to show up in the playoffs, exiting before anyone could notice they were there. Bye bye Joe Gibbs, welcome Jim Zorn. Who? Zorn comes from the Seattle Seahawks, where he resided as quarterbacks' coach for the past several years, and evidently Snyder was impressed enough with the 35 points Seattle dropped on his team to offer Zorn a job.

What was there to like in 2007 fantasy wise from this squad? Not a ton, honestly. Clinton Portis was a great value for where he was taken in many drafts, providing a strong season of 1262 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Perhaps more impressive was the...

Washington's Jim Zorn - Is He The One?

OK, OK...

I have yet to open my burgundy-and-gold lined mouth about new Redskin head coach Jim Zorn. Nelly and Brother Phil went through a spell where they would call my cellphone and say, "Jim Zorn!" They tormented me for weeks. For the longest time, I told myself I was finished with Washington. Washed my hands of the Hogs. I was a free agent fan in search of a new team, because the "Deadskins" had disappointed me for the last time. That was, until I did I little research…and soul searching...

Hail to the Zornskins…

OK, Jim Zorn wasn't anywhere on my radar when Richie Rich was on the market for a Joe Gibbs replacement. I was sure it would be Gregg Williams – fan favorite, player favorite, defensive mastermind.

Nope. Gregg, enjoy your pinkslip.

Jim freaking Zorn?

I'm still amazed that Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder even considered this guy. An ex-QB who had the pleasure to toss the pigskin to Steve Largent in Seattle. Whoop-de-doo. Zorn has bounced around from team to team, from college pro – with as little fanfare as getting an average burger and fries from Jocks and Jill's for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.

The 'Skins have had nothing BUT fanfare the last few seasons, after Norv Turner left. Turner wasn't exactly the excitement capitol of the NFL. I mean, Marty Schottenheimer, Steve Spurrier, Gibbs...Deion Sanders...Al Saunders and Gregg Williams...us 'Skins fans have gotten used to the hype outweighing the performance.

The emotional long-time Hoggette in me is saying, "Death to the Redskins, enjoy mediocrity." The rational side to me, however, is telling me to give the guy a chance. You still have Clinton Portis, Jason Campbell, and Santana Moss. Don't forget Chris Cooley.

I'm having an internal Bay of Pigs. Do I become a hypocrite and back down on my anti-Zorn stance? Do I pull for, say, the Carolina Panthers and cry as the 'Skins make it to the playoffs?

We Have a History...

I've pulled for the 'Skins since 1978. I've met Mark Rypien and the "Diesel" John Riggins. I actually covered a high school football game at Rypien's old high school – Shadle Park High in Spokane, WA. I've seen four Cowboy/Redskin games at RFK Stadium. I saw the 'Skins play the Falcons in Atlanta when James Brown was the halftime entertainment. I've seen 'Skins games in seven different states. I hate the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys with a passion. Can I be anything BUT a 'Skins fan?

I'm hurt. Honestly hurt. As a fan, I am tired of being dead last in the NFC East. I'm tired to losing to NYG, DAL, and PHI on a regular basis. Maybe I'm just a petulant little child, bemoaning the fact my idol – Joe Gibbs – is no longer the coach of the Redskins (again).

I've touched his bust in the NFL Hall of Fame for crying out loud.

While I've talked big and bad about ditching DC, I honestly don't think I can. The draft this year wasn't spectacular, but at least it was solid. Campbell could benefit from Zorn's "I'm not gonna piss anyone off, and I'm going to do everything by the book no matter what" approach. I'm sure Jason could benefit from being coached up a bit – God knows he has the talent already.

Maybe a little less talk will allow for a lot more action. We can hope, right?

One...Last...Chance...

I have one last chance in me...

Zorn – I'm publicly calling you out. I give you one season. ONE season. One chance to earn the respect of this longtime 'Skins fan.

How do you do that, you ask?

Beat the absolute crap out of Dallas twice, win the NFC East, and bring home a Super Bowl ring. If you do that, you're golden. Burgundy-and-gold for life.

No pressure.

I'm not usually this deep, just deep in it.
