The contribution Bill Parcells made, especially those in 2003, were just as vital as were the moves made by former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson in the early 90's.

Chris Canty Takes Tender

Chris Canty finally signed his $2 million tender with the Dallas Cowboys. But he hasn't missed a practice and his good attitude hopefully will be rewarded with some playing time and success at defensive end.
Canty may have gotten a long-term deal if there weren't so many high-profile players that needed a lock first. However, if [...]

Cowboys DE Chris Canty Will Sign His Tender - GridironFans.com

The Cowboys tendered DE Chris Canty at the first-round level back in February, which had a one-year, $2.017 million offer attached to it. With the first-round pick set as compensation, there's no realistic scenario for the defensive end to solicit real offers from other teams, so he's planning on signing it after the April 18 deadline to negotiate an offer sheet with another club comes and goes. "I have full intentions of signing the tender," Canty said, and there's no stronger evidence of that than his participation in the offseason program that kicked off last Monday.

Intriguing Cowboys who could be involved in Pacman trade

According to recent media reports, the Titans could be acquiring an unnamed Dallas player alongside a conditional draft pick in return for the services of controversial cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones.
Obviously, Terrell Owens, Marion Barber, or Jason Witten won't be involved in the rumored Pacman trade. However, there are several talented Cowboys who may be available that could fill positions of need in Tennessee.
Let's take a look at some of the candidates:

Clarence "I'm Right More Than I Am Wrong" Hill Is At It Again

KFFL has these weird quick notes that state our one and only super-journalist Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram reports the Dallas Cowboys are looking to sign four star players to long-term deals. Here is what the weird quick notes say, without links:
Cowboys | Team looking to sign Ware long-term

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys are looking to sign DL Chris Canty to a long-term deal. Cowboys | Team looking to sign Barber long-term
Tue, 11 Mar 2008 18:14:50 -0700

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys are looking to sign restricted free-agent RB Marion Barber III to a long-term deal.

Well, how much credibility does any of this have? Hill is the same journalist who reported to us all that Marion Barber was only getting a 1st round pick tender, which scared the living crap out of most of us.

This time, I think the Super Journalist might be on to something. If Jerry Jones signs long-term deals for these four guys, he might be able to free up some more cap room. I am not sure because the whole cap crap is confusing and tedious. But if Jerry Jones can free up more cap room, it is another piece of evidence that he will be moving up in the draft, almost certainly giving away the two first-round picks, to draft Darren McFadden.

You know, I bet Jerry Jones traded that pick to Cleveland last year with the plan that if he had two first-round picks, he has more trading power to get McFadden. I wouldn't doubt JJ told McFadden last year he would be a Cowboy at almost any cost.

But where is our cornerback for the future? Who will be our wide receiver for the future (seriously guys, cut the crap on this Stanback stuff, because it's just pie in the sky right now)? Who will be our safety for the future?

The Cowboys may have been 13-3 last year, but that doesn't mean there weren't flaws that could be fixed with those two first-round picks. I am losing sleep over this damn stuff!

Look for Barber to stay in Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys placed the highest possible tender on Marion Barber today. The offer is a 1-year $2.562 million deal, not quite what Barber is looking for and not quite the deal the Cowboys want either. Cowboys obviously want to lock up Barber long term, and Barber well he definitely wants a huge signing bonus with a boat load of guaranteed money.

Under the radar free agents that could help the Titans

As much as we dream of having a Randy Moss or even an Alge Crumpler in a Titans' uniform next season, their will also be lesser known free agents available that are more than capable of providing a positive impact on the Titans' 2008 season.

Here is my list of under the radar free agents that could help the Titans next year.

Is Jerry Jones Shopping Marion Barber?

I am surprised a bunch of "Dallas is trading Marion Barber" stories didn't appear on blogs all over the country. I say this because the Cowboys gave the 1st and 3rd round draft pick tender to defensive lineman Chris Canty because he is a restricted free agent. What this means is any team that wants Canty must give the Cowboys their 1st and 3rd round picks in this draft.

Rarely does a team pick a tendered restricted free agent. I cannot think of any recent ones.

Marion Barber is a restricted free agent. There are many of us in Dallas land wondering why the heck he has not gotten the 1st-3rd tender.

Canty first? Fine. He's a decent defensive player, and the Cowboys can use him because Marcus Spears isn't playing like a first-round pick. But why wait so long to offer the same payscale to Barber?

Is Jerry Jones shopping Marion Barber? He keeps on saying he is not. But it just doesn't make sense that he is waiting until the last minute to give Barber a tender.

I said this before and I will say it again: the rumors and speculation won't end until Jerry Jones makes the move on Barber. Until then, we Cowboys fans are wondering if he is coming back. Do I hold off on buying my authentic Barber jersey?

Please, Jerry, get this over with and make a decision.

Scoring the 2005 NFL Draft - Dallas Cowboys

After every NFL draft is completed, pundits come out and assign letter grades for each team. Somewhere in the article you read " . . but of course the true winners and losers of this draft will not be determined until several years have passed . .".

Draft Tek (www.drafttek.com) has taken it upon themselves to review the drafts of previous years, and assign each team a score. Currently, they're about 70% complete with the 2005 draft. The scoring system is unique, but certain to elicit a few naysayers. If you are one, you can still impress your friends with plenty of "Whatever happened to . . . " trivia from their research.

Draft Tek's scoring system attempts to measure how successful a given team is at evaluating (and drafting) talent. Anybody can find starter quality players in the first round. Right Lions?? It is for this reason Draft Tek rewards teams for drafting serviceable players in the later rounds moreso than the day 1 elite. A team that consistently gets 4 or 5 contributors from each draft is in much better financial shape than those teams that annually play free agent roulette. In theory, this leads to long term competitiveness.

The 2005 Dallas Cowboys draft class was reviewed most recently. Of the 20 teams scored to date, the Cowboys rate highest. They're getting production from six (6) draftees from 2005. First round pick DeMarcus Ware is a Pro-Bowler. And 7th rounder Jay Ratliff is a key cog on the Defensive front.
