Nick Marshall to Auburn:

The former Georgia DB is taking his talents to Cow Town, Alabama. He's had some character issues in the past, and Auburn is a bit close to home. But the kid is an amazing talent, and seems an ideal fit for Malzahn's system. This one will either end very, very good, or very, very bad. And remember, he was slated to be a QB here, except when he wanted to play basketball too (as a top 150 recruit in roundball according to some as a scoring guard), he figured the time needed to excel at QB was too much for a dual sport star, and shifted to corner before ultimately transferring out to JUCO after getting the boot.

College Football: Friday Feast of Football Treats

It’s a slow day for the ‘Lady’, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great stories out there worth spending a click or two on. So, here’s a few nice ones for ya! Larry Dixon of Army is “the most pummeled man” according to the Wall Street Journal; in case you didn’t know, the Army-Navy Game is being played tomorrow. Wisconsin’s AD Barry Alvarez makes a one-night only appearance to help lead the Badgers into the Rose Bowl. Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel is poised to make history as the first Freshman to ever win the Heisman—if he does in fact win. It would seem that Tennessee isn’t the only school having some trouble filling their head coaching position. Former Georgia DB/QB Nick Marshall is getting a look by the Texas Longhorns. Marshall was dismissed from the team last season and spent a year in the JUCO ranks. Tramel Terry is set to officially commit to the Georgia Bulldogs in a ceremony today; Terry will enroll in January. What if government was run like a football program?

Georgia's alarming discipline problem

It is a recurring theme in college sports, but especially, it seems, at the University of Georgia.

An all-star recruiting class signs on to play for the Bulldogs; a solid core of returning upper classmen appears poised to take the program to the next level; expectations are at an all-time high. And then the trouble starts: suspensions, arrests, attitude and attrition problems that sweep through Athens like a cold rain.

The downpour started earlier than normal this year. Starting cornerback Sanders ******* was suspended for the first two games of the 2012 campaign when he pled guilty to simple battery and disturbing the peace after a January fight with his girlfriend on the corner of Broad and Jackson streets in Athens. Alcohol was reportedly involved.

Georgias other starting cornerback, Branden Smith, will be sidelined for at least one game after being pulled over at 11:30 at night in Headland, Ala three weeks ago with a bag of marijuana under the drivers seat of his Dodge Charger.

Mitchell hopes to help Georgia on offense, defense

Malcolm Mitchell doesn't lack confidence that he can star at receiver and cornerback for Georgia.

Two days into spring practice, Mitchell is getting more comfortable in his temporary switch to cornerback despite a considerable language barrier of sorts.

''Terrible,'' Mitchell said with a smile Wednesday night. ''I didn't know what they were saying. It sounded like a different language. They were using words I've never heard before.''

The Bulldogs believe the rising sophomore will figure out his new responsibilities soon enough.

''This spring, (Mitchell is) going to work almost exclusively on defense,'' coach Mark Richt said. ''He may run a route once in a while, but the goal for him is to be as proficient as a cornerback as he can be and to have enough of a working knowledge so that when we start in camp, he'll have a pretty good feel for the position.''

Mitchell was recruited as an ''athlete'' after excelling

Georgia Recruiting: 2013 DB Prospect Vonn Bell Likes The Dawgs

With the losses of Nick Marshall and Chris Sanders—and the uncertainty surrounding what will happen with Sanders Commings—Georgia is looking very thin at the defensive back position; both this season and beyond. Keeping that in mind, the Bulldogs will likely add more than a few defensive backs in next year's recruiting class and they're already off to a good start having offered the versatile Vonn Bell ($).

Bell was a standout defensive player for Ridgeland High School last season, netting 119 tackles, five interceptions, five fumble recoveries (three of which were returned for a touchdown).

His coach, Mark Mariakas, says he's the most talented player to ever come through his program and he's been diligent about getting Bell noticed by every school he can—personally sending out video of the young man in action to "every SEC and ACC" school.

The sales job is obviously working as Bell has already secured offers from not only Georgia and Alabama, but...

"Mark Richt doesn't have to go outside the Peach State often, but North Carolina once again proved to be fertile recruiting ground for an out-of-state program. The nation's No. 2 RB Keith Marshall (Raleigh, N.C.) joined four Georgia natives and No. 5 OT John Theus (Jacksonville, Fla.) to help form the Bulldogs' second consecutive top-10 class. As for those two recruits from Missouri (QB Logan Gray and TE Aron White, teammates from Columbia), they never quite lived up to their billing."

Unfortunately, the rumors that we tweeted about and discussed on this thread last night, are true. Nick Marshall and Sanford Seay have been dismissed from University of Georgia football team.
Update: Chris Sanders was also dismissed from the team

Nick Marshall and Sanford Seay were dismissed after allegedly taking around $500 in money and property, according to an unnamed source. The Athens Banner-Herald's Marc Weiszer also reports that Seay has been dismissed, and that Marshall will be later today.
Marshall is a freshman cornerback from Rochelle, Georgia. He had five tackles and appeared in 13 games for the Bulldogs Seay is a freshman wide receiver from Leesburg, Georgia who did not play in the 2011 season and was redshirted. Both players were highly sought after in recruiting, and part of Georgia's "dream team" signing class of 2011. According to Weiszer, Seay had been the subject of team discipline issues previously.

Georgia Bulldogs: The Dawgs Might Be Taking Two on the Chin

Nothing gets your ire up like bad news after Signing Day.

The Georgia Bulldogs recently capped off a nice 2012 recruiting class, built on "quality not quantity", and filled many of their defensive needs for the coming season and beyond. That said, they also have apparently now lost two defensive players of the future due to bad behavior.
