Do the Philadelphia Eagles Really Need a Blocking Tight End?

Apart from the clamor that comes up every season for a No. 1
receiver here in Philly, the other need on everyone’s list was a
blocking tight end.
But is it necessary? Is a blocking tight end an absolute need?
Quite simply, no.
While they are definitely a breed of tight end more suited for teams
like Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Baltimore, etc., they are by no means a
necessity.
Take a team like Tennessee for example. Bo Scaife and Alge Crumpler
are both primarily receiving tight ends. Not ...

Have the Titans solved their red zone woes?

One of last season's most frustrating recurring themes was the Titans' inability to score touchdowns in the red zone. The Titans ranked dead-last in the league in red zone touchdown efficiency in 2007, crossing the goal line on only 20 of their 55 possessions inside their opponents' twenty-yard line.

Will the 2008 Tennessee Titan offense produce in the red zone?

Back To Work 1.0

Hey Guys I just noticed that my original Back To Work blog did not post completely. Here is the part that was cut off. Enjoy.

Finally I am back in Atlanta and I can definitely say that I have missed this city. Even though I have only been a part of the dirty bird franchise for a year now ( March 2nd to be exact) I am really starting to view Atlanta as my home.

I have been doing a lot of traveling since the season ended. I started with a weekend get away in Las Vegas then I stopped in Phoenix for the Superbowl which is a great experience every year ( it will be even better when I am playing in the game and not just watching). After the Superbowl, I flew to Hawaii to hang ten during the Pro-Bowl. After I got all of my fun out of the way it was back to business when I headed to Northern California to attend a business entrepreneurial program presented by the NFL at Standford University. From Standford I spent a week in Charleston at Moms house ( everyone know you cant stay away from home for too long before Moms is on the phone complaining.) After my much needed visit home I had the great pleasure and honor to speak at Columbia University as the keynote Speaker for the Sports Philanthropy Project. I was extremely nervous however I was told I did a great job (thanks everyone for all the support and motivation).

Now if you are exhausted reading the above paragraph, just imagine how tired I am from going through it. A lot has changed football wise since the season has ended. We have a entire new staff, including a great new GM from New England, our new head coach from the Jaguars, offensive coordinator courtesy of the Steelers and lastly my running back coach who we call Shaft. As far as I am concerned our whole staff is a bunch of Bad Mother (shut yo' mouth).

There were many causalities of war from the regime change. The one that hit me the most was when Alge Crumpler was released. Coming from Baltimore, Crump reminded me a lot of pro-bowl TE Todd Heap except he had a better tan. The reason Crump and I became so tight was because he was just an all around great person. He was always joking and laughing and cared about his teammates as individuals not just football player. I am very confident that he is going to do his thing with the Titans. I will be sure to pour out a little Gatorade next time I am on the field.

Titans Grab Another TE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)?The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a contract with tight end Dwayne Blakley, an unrestricted free agent from the Atlanta Falcons.

The 28-year-old Blakley played in 59 games and made nine starts in four years with Atlanta. He had 21 receptions for 189 yards and one touchdown.

Blakley originally was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a rookie free agent in 2002, spending most of the season on their practice squad. In 2003, he played for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe and spent time on the practice squads of the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins.

Blakley is the second former Falcons tight end to join the Titans this offseason. Alge Crumpler agreed to terms with the team March 3.

Falcons Cut Crumpler

Crumpler has been released by the Falcons. He was signed through 2010, and due to earn $3.4 million in base salary in 2008.
You can't say this is surprising. In the salary cap era, any player on the wrong side of 30 is susceptible. Crumpler, like the whole Falcon team, had an unimpressive year and his open criticism of then coach Bobby Petrino probably didn't help his case come the offseason.

Crumpler should attract some serious attention at a position where LJ Smith and Dallas C...

Week 9 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the Week 9 fantasy injuries and my commentary.

Cardinals:
QB Kurt Warner is probable with a left elbow. He had light practice on Monday. He will start on Sunday.

Falcons:
TE Alge Crumpler is questionable with a knee injury. He missed practice on Wednesday but did some drills on the side.

QB Bryon Leftwich is listed as out for Sunday with an ankle injury.

Check out my blog for more injuries
