The Rise And Fall Of Koy

On this day in 2002 Koy rose up above the doubters and the strange, neck bearded skinny boy from San Antonio tore apart the San Fransisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. Not having the strongest of arms, Koy relied on his great knowledge of the West Coast Offense, and killed the 49ers with accuracy.

Battle at Lambeau

Or should I say blowout? I'm having trouble deciding. Here's why...
The Vikings will be riding on the back of rookie sensation, Adrian Peterson. When the Vikings first met Green Bay this year, he broke 100 yards rushing on just 12 carries making him the only player to rush for over 100 yards on Green Bay this season. If he did that on just 12, Green Bay might have their hands full in keeping him contained. Fortunately for the Packers the Vikings lack a legitimate passing game. The Minnesota Vikings' combined completion percentage hardly surpasses 50% and has only thrown for 5 TDs. If the numbers don't impress you surely the signing of QB Koy Detmer will. For those of you who don't remember Detmer is a 34 year old quarterback who hasn't thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2005 and finished the season with a less than stellar 45.1 passer rating. Ouch. Maybe there's a reason the Eagles let him go.

The Packers will put on quite the offensive show. They will be running a spread offense against Minnesota, kryptonite to a struggling Vikings secondary. (Antoine Winfield will likely miss Sunday's game with an injury.) Brett Favre will be looking for Donald Driver throughout the game, but let's not forget about their highly praised defence. All these ingredients will make Green Bay the favorite over Minnesota.
Minnesota needs big game on the defensive side of the ball in order to give Adrian Peterson a chance to carry this team to a rare win.

Final Score.
Packers 34, Vikings 21

Jeff Garcia: Demoted to 3rd String because of Special Teams?

Apparently newly acquired Eagles QB Jeff Garcia has separated himself all that much from last year's backup Koy Detmer or this story might not have surfaced.

"The problem is Garcia either is not good at or has never been a very good holder for field goals, while Detmer has held for Akers for years now. Per NFL rules, if your third string QB comes onto the field to play your 1st and 2nd QBs are done. They can no longer play. So if Detmer is their #3 and they need him to hold for field goals both McNabb and Garcia would not be allowed to reenter the game. So now, Garcia finds himself possibly ending up the Eagles #3.!"

I'm not sure if this is totally accurate because I think if the 3rd stringer comes in, only the 1st string QB is done. Either way, it doesn't help Garcia's situation. One would think someone else would be able to handle 'holding' duties, but if Garcia hasn't looked any better than Detmer in camp, which is possible, than this added ability as stupid as it sounds could be the difference.
