Lipscomb 76, Northern Kentucky 58

Deonte Alexander scored 22 points, hitting six 3-pointers, as Lipscomb cruised to a 76-58 win over Northern Kentucky on Friday night, snapping a three-game skid and splitting the season series.

The Bisons (9-14, 4-8 Atlantic Sun Conference) never trailed while avenging a 67-53 loss to the Norse (8-12, 6-6) on Jan. 11. They took a 45-26 rebounding advantage and a 21-0 edge in second-chance points.

Lipscomb led by 17 before Northern Kentucky closed the first half with eight straight points.

After the Norse, who came in riding a four-game winning streak, got within seven early in the second, the Bisons used a 10-3 spurt to pull away.

Alexander finished 6 of 9 from long range.

Malcolm Smith and Martin Smith scored 11 points apiece for Lipscomb, while Stephen Hurt added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Eshaunte Jones scored 15 points, surpassing 900 points for his career, to pace Northern Kentucky.

Deonte Alexander scored a career-high 29 points and Lipscomb scored the first 11 points of overtime to upset Florida Gulf Coast 87-78 Thursday night in Atlantic Sun Conference action.

Alexander's 29 points came on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor, including six 3-pointers in 11 attempts.

Florida Gulf Coast led by 13 points in the first half before Lipscomb went on a 15-2 run to tie it at 56-56. The teams were still tied at 70-70 in the last 43 seconds of regulation. But Sherwood Brown (20 points, 10 rebounds) missed a 3-point shot for the Eagles and Alexander's layup rimmed out as time expired.

Lipscomb's 11 opening points in overtime clinched it.

Stephen Hurt and Malcolm Smith scored 16 points apiece for Lipscomb. Chase Fieler also had 20 for the Eagles.
