Nic Wise Is The Best Pure Point Guard in the Pac-10

With a 74-72 double overtime loss to UNLV last night - setting its record at 3-3 - it’s an understatement to say that Arizona is not run by flash and big names this year. With Lute Olson thrice removed and the Encinitas Enigma, (coined by yours truly; shirt orders to my Twitter…) Chase Budinger, and [...]

Mac Court (Eugene, Oregon) Road Trip

McArthur Court (aka "Mac Court", aka "The Pit") in Eugene, Oregon, has been the home of the Oregon Ducks basketball program since it opened in 1926, and is one of the most distinctive basketball venues in the country. This is likely to be the last full season of Oregon basketball at Mac Court, as the new Matthew Knight Arena (named for the late son of Nike founder/Oregon alum Phil Knight) is scheduled to open in December, 2010.We took our first trip to Mac Court in February...

I hate to say ‘I told you so’ on Budinger/Olson

A little more than a year ago, I wrote a piece here on Fanster.com criticizing the venerable Lute Olson( and got criticized by U of A fans for it) for what I perceived to be pressure through the media being placed on Arizona forward Chase Budinger.
Budinger, at the time, was unsure whether he would [...]

Arizona State sophomore James Harden, the Pac-10 player of the year, will hire an agent and enter the NBA draft. Also leaving early and hiring an agent is Arizona junior forward Chase Budinger. By hiring an agent, Budinger and Harden will not be able to return to Arizona or ASU next year.

Arizona's Quest for 25 Still Alive

Arizona's Quest for 25 Still Alive

Just under a month ago, Arizona was coming off of a heartbreaker at USC, and a demoralizer against UCLA. Things looked bleak for the Kitty Kits. They were 11-7 and 2-4 in Pac-10 Play. The following Thursday the Cats lost to in-state rival Arizona State at Home taking them to 11-8 (2-5). Not only were there doubts about Arizona making it to their 25th straight NCAA Tournament, there were doubts they would even get invitations to other postseason pla...

Was Penders Right?

Tom Penders' buddy at ESPN, Norby, has finally returned Penders' calls and it turns out, maybe Penders wasn't as crazy as we all thought. In a radio interview recently Penders accused ESPN of doctoring the video and adding X-Ray vision. Here is the clip in question:ESPN does add a spot shadow to show Aubrey looking down, which as I mentioned in a Previous Post is debatable. The intention is there nonetheless. Plus the ESPN announcer says, "He wasn't looking down at him, b...

Tom Penders is a Dirtbag

Earlier this week Tom Penders had the gall to stand up for what Aubrey Coleman did to Chase Budinger's face last Saturday saying that ESPN doctored the video and added the x-ray vision piece to make Aubrey look bad. What really made Aubrey look bad was stepping on Chase Budinger's face and shoulder. That made him look much worse than adding a little x-ray vision graphic.Whether or not Coleman looked down to Chase there is indisputable evidence that he knew Chase was on the ground, bas...

Stomp to the Fayce!

I'm sure most of you Frumpsters out there have seen this already. If not, think Albert Haynesworth.

Make the jump for the video. I realize Chase Budinger's head o' hair looks like one of those golf shoe cleaners outside the pro shop, but come on. That makes Laettner's stomp look pedestrian. And his teammates are absolutely thrilled. Awful.
Houston must still be upset about 1983. Understandable.

A personal thank you to Lute Olson

Dear Lute,

As a University of Arizona graduate, I wanted to send you a thank you letter. I'm not writing to thank you for strong-arming Chase Budinger back, although that will make the team more bearable to watch. Nor am I writing you to thank you for getting rid of Kevin O'Neill or Miles Simon, because all those comments should be directed to Jim Livengood, right?

Welcome Back Chase

As The BearDown reported earlier, Chase Budinger will be returning to Tucson for his Junior Season. According to sources close to the situation the fax came in around 2:00 PM Mountain Standard Time announcing his return for the 2008-2009 season. Also we should note that Chase's dad Duncan Budinger wanted Chase to stay in the NBA badly. It's nice to see the young man make a logical desicion even in the face of that kind of opposition, here's hoping that happens on the court next ye...

Don't stand next to Lute Olson at a bus stop

Fresh off of worrying about Chase Budinger's marketability, Lute Olson is at it again. The Hall of Fame coach granted an hour-long interview to Anthony Gimino of the Tucson Citizen, and Gimino asked a lot of pertinent questions that people want answers to.

Lute spared nobody:
