      <title>Sacred Heart 66, St. Francis (NY) 65</title>
      <description>Shane Gibson scored a game-high 28 points, including the game-clinching free throws, as Sacred Heart beat St. Francis (N.Y.) 66-65 Saturday in a Northeast Conference showdown.

Justin Swidowski added 14 points, and Phil Gaetano chipped in 11 points and nine assists for Sacred Heart (4-9, 2-0).

Following Ben Mockford's 3-pointer that put the Terriers ahead 65-62 at the 2:37 left to play, Gibson's layup with 1:09 remaining cut the lead to just one, 65-64.

Fouled by Akeem Johnson with only 5 seconds left to play, Gibson knocked down two free throws to give Sacred Heart the win.

Ahead 33-28 at halftime, St. Francis (5-8, 1-1) pushed the lead to 46-35 on Jalen Cannon's layup with 16:05 remaining.

Sacred Heart answered with a 12-1 run to tie the game at 47. Swidowski scored 10 points during the stretch, including seven straight.

Cannon led the Terriers with 20 points and 16 rebounds.</description>

After the not-so-surprising move of the &#8220;Catholic Seven&#8221; declaring their independence from the Big East, rumors circulated about the possible future for these schools &#8211; and possibly other schools.
Depaul, Georgetown, St. John&#8217;s, Villanova, Providence, Seton Hall, and Marquette compose the now notorious &#8220;Catholic Seven,&#8221; and are now leaving the Big East because of the lack of emphasis on the basketball program.
They have lost their identity amidst the sea of football revenue, and they have finally decided to walk away from the conference. For the Catholic Seven, who lack football programs, basketball is a major part of their universities, and without their identity, they are just another university.

Tied at 58, Cannon's jump shot with 1:12 left in the second half put St. Francis (2-2) on top 60-58.

Cedric Kuakumensah answered for Brown (2-3), making a layup with 33 seconds left to tie it up at 60. Brent Jones missed the potential winning jumper, sending the game into overtime.

Brown jumped out to a 64-63 lead halfway through overtime, but St. Francis would respond with an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to take the lead 71-64.

Ben Mockford finished with 14 points, including eight in overtime, while Kevin Douglas scored six in the overtime period for the Terriers, and totaled 17 points for the game.

Sean McGonagill led Brown with 23 points, but recorded six turnovers.</description>

Garvey Young finished with 14 points to pace Quinnipiac (15-11, 8-7), while Ike Azotam turned in 12 points and 15 rebounds. The Bobcats had their season-high four-game winning streak snapped.</description>
