Bush is like Faulk? Well ...

Back when Reggie Bush was a USC freshman, I remember watching the Rose Bowl and thinking to myself, immediately, "Marshall Faulk". Two national titles and a Heisman later, my feeling on that was cemented. But now it's changed. When...

Another Possible Ron Turner Replacement

My plan was to have this post up on Thursday, but after another tough loss, with another bunch of questionable calls by Ron Turner, and after seeing the regression of a Pro Bowl quarterback, I had to chime in early. The Bears offense is in desperate need of a coach that can coach.
Last week I speculated the Bears could hire Charlie Weis as offensive coordinator if the Fighting Irish let him go. After losing again this weekend that possibility is gaining momentum. I ho...

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson was his usual dominant self in the team's near upset of the undefeated New Orleans Saints last week, rushing for 131 yards on 26 carries and scoring his second touchdown in two weeks. There's no love-loss for Marshall Faulk here. Faulk was a pouty, vindictive, malcontent player for the Indianapolis Colts who always seemed to put himself above the team and the team's accomplishments. I, for one, was happy to see the me-first prick shipped out of town, replaced by the equally great (yes, I said it...

Faulk potentially part of an ownership group? Does Checketts really have the money?

With Rush Limbaugh out of the potential group of buyers for the St. Louis Rams, Dave Checketts is scrambling to replace Rush and the money he brought to the group assembled by Checketts.
Now the rumor mill says former Rams RB Marshall Faulk could be in the mix.
To me, it's starting to look like Checketts doesn't have the money to be a serious bidder on the Rams. Remember, his group is not the only potential buyer to have made an offer. Now it looks like he's scrambling to ge...

Michael Irvin Joins NFL Network

NFL Network announced today that it has added Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin to their broadcasting talent roster. Irvin, a five-time Pro Bowler, joins Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, Warren Sapp and Steve Mariucci as part of the Network’s all-encompassing Sunday coverage dubbed NFL GameDay beginning Sunday, September 13.
In addition, Stacey Dales joins the NFL GameDay lineup as co-host of NFL GameDay Morning with Spero Dedes, reporting the latest news and information to kick off each football Sunday. NFL GameDay Morning, the first NFL pregame show on the air Sunday mornings, expands this season to four hours from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM ET.
Irvin will join Faulk, Mariucci, Sapp, Dales, Dedes and insider Jason La Canfora on NFL GameDay Morning. Following the afternoon games, he will recap and analyze the action on NFL GameDay Highlights with Sanders and host Rich Eisen at 7:30 PM ET.
“Michael is a proven NFL analyst,” said NFL Network executive producer Eric Weinberger. “His personality, work ethic and football IQ fit right into our great team here at NFL Network.”
Irvin has served as a guest analyst on the NFL Network coverage of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction ceremony for the past two years. Previously, Irvin served as an NFL analyst for ESPN (2003-2007).
A 2007 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Irvin spent his entire 10-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys where he won three Super Bowl rings and tallied 750 receptions for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns.
Dales joins NFL Network after seven years as an analyst and reporter for ESPN and ABC, where she covered a variety of sports including college football, men and women’s college basketball and the NBA. Prior to her broadcasting career, Dales played five seasons in the WNBA and was a member of the Canadian team for the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Wade Phillips ... The Opposite of Plaxico Burress

I am not exactly sure how this happened, but Yardbarker was the only "Sports" press at the John Travolta/Marshall Faulk Saturday night Super Bowl party. NBC, Maxim, Extra and a number of other non-sports news outlets were all there to cover the event. It was actually embarrassing listening to the chatter of reporters behind Jeff and I as they tried to figure out who each athlete was as they walked the red carpet. When Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips entered the room we heard someone say that they were management for the Cardinals. I am not a Dallas fan, but that's just wrong.

Marshall Faulk co-sponsored the event and some of the reporters didn't know who he was! Are you kidding me! Do your homework! The guy had 19,000+ total yards from scrimmage and is a lock for the Hall of Fame. And reporters have the audacity to criticize bloggers? I think they have quite a few lessons to learn. I was truly in shock. Reporters should take this as a warning that there is a revolution coming and bloggers are going to eat your lunch.

Since we were the only sports press at the party that meant we got 1st dibs on Dallas Cowboy's head coach Wade Phillips when he entered the room. Wade's a great guy but pretty reserved in the interview. May be he should coach Plaxico Burress on keeping his mouth shut when it comes to prediction time.

This King From Queens is a Steelers Fan?

Last night John Travolta and Marshall Faulk hosted the A-lister "Saturday Night Spectacular" here in Scottsdale. Tickets were going for $1500+. Jeff and I were able to skip the cover charge and were invited to report from the red carpet, probably based on our ability to quote Battlefield Earth, Face-Off, and Broken Arrow at will. [Thank you years of TBS.]

When Travolta and Faulk get together for an event (and before you ask, I don't know if Faulk is a Scientologist), you can only imagine the diverse group of celebs that would be walking the carpet. Evander Holyfield, Chris Collinsworth, Michael Bay, Jerry Jones, Wade Philips, Cirque de Soleil, Deal Or No Deal Girls (cases 2,4,6,8,15 etc.,) were all in the house. Even the Mayor of Phoenix chose this event to be seen at.

But when Darryl McDaniels (DMC of RunDMC) walked into the room, I knew this was a party. Sure the entire press core that was there didn't really know who this Rap Hall of Famer was. Their loss and Yardbarker's gain. Before DMC showed the world how to Walk This Way down the red carpet of the Super Bowl event, he stopped by to chat with us about athletes moonlighting as rappers, the glory years for the Steelers and his Super Bowl XLII predictions.
