Wainwright for Carpenter, Carpenter for Wainwright, Somebody for DeJesus

At the P-D they're taking good advantage of the Cardinals' dual Cy Young candidates, as they've gotten both Wainwright and Carpenter on record as being Spartacus. (I would have liked one more, maybe PINEIRO: Why Joel Pineiro should win the Cy Young.)
For my money Wainwright's take on Carpenter is more interesting:

But we should talk about this year. This year he just out-executed everybody. If he wouldn't have lost that time because of inj...

Rays Family Tree: Dead Trade Strings of 1999

Steve Slowinski wrote a piece a week ago about the importance of developing trade strings, particularly for the teams in small to mid-markets. I'll let Steve explain:

To lead off this series (no pun intended), I want to look at a concept that has always fascinated me: trade strings. I'm pretty sure I just made that phrase up, so let me explain what I mean. "Trade strings" are trades that eventually result in future trades. And then those trad...

Welcome to St Louis, Mr Greene

This picture makes him look like the (unfairly maligned) Cyborg Juan Encarnacion. It's nice that one robot could replace another on the payroll. Love that fire, K!Now, learn how to take a walk and forget last year ever happened.

Top 7 :: Worst Trades of the Decade

With two huge deals in the National League Central this past week, the trade deadline has gotten some much earlier hype than it usually does. Both the Sabathia and the Harden trades have a possibility to become horrible for any of the teams involved?the Brewers miss the playoffs, Sabathia walks after the season, and Matt LaPorta dominates for years; Harden snaps his arm in half this Sunday. But the thing about most every trade that is made is that you really don't know how good or bad t...

Someone Take That Glue Away From Kevin Wheeler

I guess it's fair to at least play the "where will A-Rod end up going" game a little early - hopefully we really get to start playing when the Yankees miss the playoffs *crossing fingers* - but this is just a bit insane. Or maybe inane is the accurate word. I mean, at least be realistic if you're going to paint the scenario.
