Brandon Lloyd was an expensive Taylor Jacobs

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The Redskins finally bit the bullet and dumped dead weight receiver Brandon Lloyd. Now they only have the $7 million dead money hit in 2009.

Washington really should have seen this coming. Lloyd's numbers were never any better than discredited Rod Gardner and last season, he was even out-performed by ex-Redskin Taylor Jacobs.

Rod Gardner and Darius Watts try out for Bears

Not really a vote of confidence for Bernard Berrian. I have high hopes for a rebound year from Muhammed since either Grossman or Griese should have a fair amount more range than Kyle Orton. Picking up a strong second receiver should help out the rest of the offense as well so opposing teams dont crowd the box or double Muhammed. I dont think Rod Gardner or Watts qualify as "strong" second receivers, but both would be an upgrade over Berrian.

Help wanted: Bears work out WRs Gardner/Watts

Former high draft picks Rod Gardner and Darius Watts worked out at Halas Hall along with rookie Greg Lee as general manager Jerry Angelo and coach Lovie Smith got a look at what's out there that might help a roster that has not been able to achieve any consistency at wide receiver since training camp opened. With Charles Rogers not in the group, it's a sign the team does not have interest in the former No. 2 overall pick of the Detroit Lions.
